After loving my time with the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, I was keen to see what a GTS version of the 911 992 would be like. As I'd heard its the sweet spot of the 911 range.
After driving the 911 GT3 Touring recently, where would the GTS sit in terms of driver appeal verses usability between that great car and the base Carrera? So lets find out...
Many thanks to Porsche GB for the loan of the 911 Carrera 4 GTS for this video.

thats cool. Porsche's 911 cars are always my dream with manual. I've been searching for 2023 and up models with both manual and awd but its hard to find. I am wandering if Porsche discontinued the Manual+AWD on 911s.

If you add PASM (13:23) you will remove de dual springs that makes the GTS a GTS! You can check it in porsche's configurator. Just click the exclamation close to the PASM option, you will see the alert in the bottom. I've almost click that option when ordering mine, because its free... Don't make that mistake!
Normally, if Porsche's give you a free option is because you're giving-up something better!! Be aware about that.

GTS already comes 10mm lowered, for a much stiffer ride but you can deselect that which will raise it up 10mm like what you get with the S model. I personally like the lowest settings even if I get a stiffer ride

    • @mcunhabr
      @mcunhabr 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@kwakufordjour9568 isn’t that… in gts if you don’t select PASM it will come with gts’s specific suspension(called as GTS PASM (also 10mm lower), tat uses dual coils. But if you select PASM (and it’s free to gts) you will give up from this especial gts suspension and get the same PASM from lower versions (like S or standard). You can’t make the gts the same high of an S removing the PASM

Thanks for a very relevant thoughts on the GTS. To me, this particular 992 911 GTS really does not fully provide for the two primary segments of the Porsche buyers: one a casual sports car drivers and the other a hardcore high-rev, stick shifting heal-toe drivers. The “S” version of the Carreras are extremely capable cars and offers more performance than 99% of the buyers’ can ever fully deploy. It does that while keeping a daily drivable ride and characteristics. GTS on the other hand does not inherit the NA engine from the GT3 so it just cannot offer what a GT3 car can offer in terms of sensory satisfaction. While its cornering capabilities are quite more pronounced in GTS over a Carrera model, it does at a damning cost of ride quality and very annoying road noise which renders it quite unpleasant to drive around most of the time. So, it definitely isn’t going to be a GT3 and it provides you the level of performance that you really won’t need, all at the cost of usable comfort. So, anyone looking to get in to their first 911, my recommendation is a Carrera S or 4S. They are amazing cars to own, if it is your one Porsche. I like my 718 Spyder over anything else for a Sunday drive through the canyons and the Turbo S for putzing around town, just for its muscle. I am no longer running around the tracks so I have no need for a GT3. But if I had to pick one sports car to reward myself, it would be the 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. It is a great device for anyone who loves spirited driving, ready to go any time, any place.

@@karlhurn that’s my problem with Porsche. They’re using the double-wishbone setup to make their Halo car more special; and they shouldn’t. All 911’s are six figure sports cars. Even a Mazda Miata and Honda Accord have a double-wishbone front setup. There really is no excuse for Porsche. They’ve been skating by with struts for decades and taking advantage of the fact that very few call them out on it.

The GTS is basically a GT3 but with a more comfortable better (non track) road feel in addition to more creature comforts.
There are numerous special things about the 992 GTS that only true Porsche aficionados would get:
1 -You can option it with a wing the same as a GT3. (Even though no one orders it, which is a resale mistake)
2 -You can option it with the Turbo Wheels.
3 -You can option it with 4 wheel drive as a Carrera 4 variant.
4 -You can option it with the custom bespoke interiors of which several of them only are available on the GTS.
5 -You can option it with a 7 speed manual which you would be surprised to hear how rare it is in the Porsche Lineup and even on other manufacturers cars.
The GT3 and 911 s/t offer a manual but they are different; while both of those cars are overpriced and don't have as good of a road feel.
6 -Whether it matters or not you get slightly more power than the base or s versions without going into hyper car territory with the turbo series.
7 -You can option the GTS as the most loaded model variant in Porsche's lineup which would be a 992 911 -> Targa -> 4 -> GTS.
