  • 2007 Gibson Hummingbird acoustic 6 string guitar -it needs a string change and a setup check. I found a loose output jack which needed fixing but otherwise, this guitar is setup well and plays very nicely. Enjoy the video and please remember to Like & Subscribe for more content. Thanks!

      Are you located right in Manotick?
      My wife and I have a small handful of guitars and definitely wanna give any future work to you partly because we've learned a ton from watching you work!
      (also, I asked you about reshaping the baseball bat neck of a PRS s2, a couple months ago, but fortunately I was able to sell it and buy the Hummingbird but thank you for your kind response, that would've made a great video had I kept it)

    Nice job. In addition to that pick in the body I think I saw a capo in there too.

    I’ve been benging your videos! So I re string my guitar pretty much the same way you do it, but the guy who taught me many years ago showed me this and I use it to this day and it seems to work great.
    Insert the string into the post and pull it tightly.
    From the nut pull back the string about 1 and a half frets. Do this method for the Low E A and D string for the high strings do the same thing but pull the string from the nut 2 and a half frets. Then Start your wraps.
    I’m always left with about 3 wraps on the bass strings and like 5 or 6 on the high strings. I hopes this make sense thank you for the good content

    Hello, I have a question. What type of output Jack did you buy to replace the old one? I have a 2005 Gibson Hummingbird and the Jack is shorting and sometime the cable isn’t plugging into the Jack. Thinking need to replace the output Jack but don’t know what to buy. Thank you for any recommendations.

      Hi, Mark. I didn't replace the output jack, just tightened it up. I hope you have subscribed to my channel?

    Sorry Bud but I don't set up an appointment to play my guitar. It's there all the time and I play it throughout the day. That is what I bought it for, not as a thing to be brought out of the safe on special occasion and shown off, then taken to a luthier so he can make a little money on its "service".

    I enjoyed the video! I just picked up this guitar used for a great price. Appears to not even ever really played. However, the pick guard is coming up in a couple places on the corners. Do you have suggestions on how to adhere the corners down?

    • @ManotickGuitarTech
      @ManotickGuitarTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Timothy, CA glue works well but be careful where you apply it... just a small amount and mask off the guitar around the pickguard. I hope you are subscribed to my channel?

    Hi, when you changed the strings I noticed you weren’t pulling up when you seated the pin. What is the correct way of doing it. On my last string change I seated the pin 3/4s of the way in, then gave a gentle tug on the string while pushing the pin the rest of the way in. Is that ok. I’m a newbie to guitar and have been slightly traumatised when during my first ever string change on my first guitar one of them snapped when tuning up and exploded the bridge plate rendering the guitar unplayable. It was a cheap Yanaha 310 though and when I took a pic of the bridge plate it looked flimsy and not fit for purpose.

      Paul, I bend the ball end of the string and then use the bridge pin to push it down into the hole. Then when I tighten the string, I make sure the pin doesn't pop out periodically. Never have an issue that way.
