Story 2 - "My BF wants to take a loan out in my name for-" Stop. Nope. No. Don't need to hear the story. Don't need the details. The above sentence is full stop, right there. To all concerned, never, EVER take a loan out in your own name for someone else. You can SPEND the money for another's sake, like medical bills or emergency repairs, but NEVER let another control it, because they will screw you over, 100%.
Story 1: OP's wife in the background watching all this madness unfold and eating popcorn...she clearly has been around the Reddit block a few times. Story 2: Lol, I can barely get by...oh I'll get a Spiderman costume! What a doofus...
Story 1 "How dare you make a simple joke that seemingly referenced a specific event in my husband's past that nobody knows about and made him angry with me?"
In the first story the drama was used as a distraction for the true guilty party. A man CHEATED and yet Emma was blamed for ruining the marriage because...what, she NOTICED? That is textbook shooting the messenger. Emma should have been praised for exposing a cheater, not blamed for breaking up a marriage, the cheating husband did that.
In the first story op gets that info from his former roommate and because she's already lied to op and lied about a secret affair between her and op anything she said should be taken with a grain of salt. She's a liar and because of that her claiming that her husband cheated is not something that should be treated as fact considering the lies she's told already about op. She basically attempted to ruin ops marriage in the process because since college she was playing the "nice girl act" in hopes op would get with her. She pretended to be his friend because she had ulterior motives. Based on that fact it would be reasonable to assume that she in fact is not being truthful.
The thing is to get a nice custom made costume you need to order 3 months in advance. Doesn't excuse the boyfriend but it was the last moment to get it. You can't just save up and buy it on October 26th or something.
Ruiner story - Emma couldn't keep her mouth shut because like most villains they are narcissistic and are compelled to reveal their evil plot so that everyone can be in shock and awe of it. But, also like most villains, they don't realize in running their mouths they allow the protagonist to escape or plot their revenge.
Morning!!!!! I get these at 7am, and I tried to watch the sunrise while listening to it, but it is currently 35 degrees out so I marched my ass right back to snuggle in my three blankets 😂😅
Holy crap… this went absolutely insane really, really fast! It went from a joke that I thought was HILARIOUS… to an angry husband for justifiable reasons… blowing up a marriage and causing collateral damage… to apparently she and her husband are truly truly toxic individuals… to her CONFESSING SHE HAD FEELINGS FOR OP FOR 15 YEARS AND LYING TO THEIR FRIENDS AND SAYING THEY WERE AFFAIR PARTNERS!? I’m so so glad that OP cut that toxic insane woman out of their lives… because WTAF!? She and her husband deserve each other even if he is cheating. They are both absolutely unhinged. Edit to Add: You know what… after hearing the second update… although I did say that Emma’s husband was just as toxic as she is… I was absolutely believing that the reason was because she was telling the truth since it appeared that’s what she was doing, however, I will concede from what we are hearing from OP now… she very well could be the only toxic person they know. She could have lied about her soon-to-be ex husband in an attempt to make him look bad and herself better by comparison. Still though… this story has far more twists than I initially thought it would.
That last one is just... WOW! I am Autistic, ADHD, suffering from depression and anxiety along with Diabetes, PCOS, Hypermobile EDS, and so many other issues yet my top priority is housing and my pets! This man's disabilities aren't an excuse and I am so glad OP left him!
Emma sounds like the White Lotus character you see in a lot of K-Dramas and serials. The friend who looks like she's well meaning on the outside, but is actually plotting your demise behind the scenes. But it's in real life! That's so bonkers. As for what happened, I think she realized things were wildly out of her control and the best way for her to regain some of that control was to feed OP a very tailored "true" version of events that paints her in the best light while continuing to wrap him around her finger with sympathy. That's why she ended her story with "your texts really made me stop and realize that I value our friendship." She wanted to make it appear as though OP had had an impact on her in a positive way and use that as a lure to keep him close to her (she clearly wants in his pants so bad). What she failed to take into account was that OP isn't a simple minded person, he actually thought about what she told him, what he'd seen, and put the pieces together (with a bit of help from the internet). He realized she was weaving this whole web of lies around him and he decided to get out. I hope for OP's sake that Emma ends things here, but for his wife sake, I hope she brings a bit more drama XD
Story 2 reminds me of an ex roommate. I work, but he was on SSI, so we agreed that I would pay the rent, if he would cover utilities and food, since I made more. He would pay the bills, then set aside $50 for food for the entire month, then blow the rest on video games. One day, we got a disconnect bill from the water company, because he decided to put off paying the water bill for 3 months, because "it wasn't a lot, and didn't think they would care". It wasn't the 1st time either, and both times his plan was to sell his PS4 to pay the bill, then buy another one the following month. So I told him I'd pay the $60 water bill, and then he could just give me the PS4. He was still allowed to use it, but it would be coming with me once we stopped rooming together. He agreed, and I got a gently used PS4 out of it
Yeah, I bought a replica of Princess Leia’s dress from ANH that I could wear if I joined the fam group Rebel Legion and it cost me $400-$450 back in 2017. That seems like a crazy amount of money for a costume.
Story 2: imagine feeling so entitled to someone else's money that you tell them "$1500 is not much money for you" when you're talking about an unnecessary expense for yourself.
*First OP:* Tag yourself. I'm OP's wife 😂 Poor OP; he was trying to squash the issue only to find out it was more chaotic than he thought. Best of luck to OP and Dave, and I hope Emma gets the help she desperately needs. *Second OP:* I'm glad OP broke up with her boyfriend. Before I read the update, I was thinking he needs to get some clothing material and watch a tutorial on how to make a costume. $1500?!
Last story: I feel kind of bad because I'm in the same place right now as OP's boyfriend, though I have family helping me and I'm able to buy groceries AND pay rent. I understand him, but I also could never see myself in a relationship because I fear it would be one sided, like with OP. I can't imagine how his carers and family could have gone so wrong with him. Did he never get therapy or counselling? Does he have any support a all? He's going to end up homeless at this rate. That's 100 percent NOT on OP. That's on him. I just can't imagine how the people that supported him have failed him so badly. We're not all that impulsive and irresponsible! We can learn to budget and live independently too! OP's now ex boyfriend is my worst nightmare for myself.
In regards to the Halloween story, I feel the need to add some context. I, too, am autistic with adhd and major depressive disorder. The sad truth is that around 70% of autistic people are unable to maintain employment (I'm part of the lucky 30% who has a job). Disability payments are insanely small and we can be bad with money. On the flip side, however, asking for a loan of $1500 is unreasonable. He should be sat down and explained to that asking for that much money is not appropriate. He might genuinely not understand why it's not right to ask for so much money.
Oh my god, first story should be turned into some kind of 10 minute film; like, dude, this is literally novel-material, not great material, mind you- but this is still some insane crap. They really aren't kidding when they say, "Reality is stranger than fiction"
Story 1: wow, I listen to enough words stories to know when something incredibly insignificant causes such an issue It’s because of somebody else told. But still, I’m confused to what the endgame was supposed to be for this.
I don't think its his fault for having autism, more so his family's for not getting him proper help when he was younger to be able to cope with it. Sometimes you just don't have the ability to help yourself, everyone needs help. But yeah he was not in a situation where he could have a stable relationship.
So found the costume I think from the last story. It's a custom Raimi Movie Symbiote suit for $1.5K. Fyi this is just base cost not including S&H and tax. I mean it looks nice but I'm not dropping that much on a costume personally. Also the ordering in July makes perfect sense when you factor in creation time and shipping time. That said there are plenty of great costumes like that out there that are more affordable
Story 1 when he got back to the house after she told him everything he should have said to his wife "hey I didn't know this but it turns out I've been cheating on you for a while now"
I relate to the last story so much. My brother also has autism and he's also incapable of managing his finances because of it, so my parents have full control over his account and it's expected I'll take over from them when they pass
The last story: Yes, 100%. If you as a person are barely able to take care of yourself, you should not be getting into a relationship. Your partner is not your babysitter or your parent.
Story 1: OP is a cartoon character who kicked the side of a building and it instantly collapsed into a pile of rubble.
Lol yea
Didn’t even kick the side of the building, he kicked a rock down the road near the building and it accidentally tapped the building
Yes. A cartoon character indeed. As in, fiction. Not real. Made up. And badly at that.
Story 1 had me cackling with how much glee rslash (and the rest of us) is probably getting from this story. OP's wife is all of us.
Lol
Definitely us!
I guess sometimes in real life there really can be an audience insert character, lol.

So much tea has been spilled I'm seeing a second Boston tea party
First story: OP's wife sipping tea and watching the whole drama unfold is the most hilarious thing ever. That woman couldn't WAIT for the updates.
Story 1
"How dare you make a simple joke that seemingly referenced a specific event in my husband's past that nobody knows about and made him angry with me?"
I imagine the wife peeing her pants trying to hold back her laughter.
9:45 "Not The Sharpest Tool In The Shed" refers to someone being Strikingly Solid, yet dense like a Hammer ⚒️. You can't make this up
You mean like? They're a good person, just a dumb good person
"it's not a lot of money"...yeah...for you..because you know you won't pay it back.
Here for the Daily reminder that I'm not as bad as these people.
We don't know who's actually lying about that though...
Lol, the whole point of that story is that we have no idea who was telling the truth or lying ffs.
Did you listen to the whole story before commenting? Or are you one of those " believe all women " types?
Considering Emma lied about, well, everything to the OP and her husband, you actually think she's any kind of reliable person to listen to?
In the first story op gets that info from his former roommate and because she's already lied to op and lied about a secret affair between her and op anything she said should be taken with a grain of salt. She's a liar and because of that her claiming that her husband cheated is not something that should be treated as fact considering the lies she's told already about op. She basically attempted to ruin ops marriage in the process because since college she was playing the "nice girl act" in hopes op would get with her. She pretended to be his friend because she had ulterior motives. Based on that fact it would be reasonable to assume that she in fact is not being truthful.
Anyone else feel a slight dopamine rush whenever you hear the words, “And then OP posted an update?”
Hell yeah! That phrase triggers some fine brain chemicals.
You're giving Emma way too much credit with that "Machiavellian" comment. It's more likely that shes just a pathological liar.
Story 2: dude is clearly living beyond his means and expecting his free ATM and doormat of a girlfriend to keep bailing him out.
Story 1: She's probably borderline, I knew one and she spilled her whole manipulation plan after we broke up.
Let Smosh know about the update ending of the first story. They posted an AITA video titled "Celebrations", and this was the last story.
Everyone else was expecting the $1500 costume to be a fur suit, too, right?
yeah it reminded me of a fursuit lmao
The thing is to get a nice custom made costume you need to order 3 months in advance.
Doesn't excuse the boyfriend but it was the last moment to get it. You can't just save up and buy it on October 26th or something.
For real.
Some of these comments are pissing me because "$1500" is too expensive for a custom made costume. It makes me so angry 🙈
We need to find the wife in the first story 😂
What great woman 😂
“My wife and Dave were having an affair the whole time….. just kidding ”
I gasped so hard op is such a troll
It must be his wife’s influence 😂
For the costume story: if the costume is custom made then it needs to be ordered early on
Holy crap… this went absolutely insane really, really fast!
Story 2.. I would really just have asked "Okay, how are you going to pay the loan back?"
Story 1 feels like someone asked ChatGPT to write a modern Shakespeare play. The drama is insane.
Watched my TH-cam recap today. Apparently I've listened to 4.5 full days of Rslash this year 😂😂😂❤❤❤ Thanks for the great time this year, Slasher
That last one is just... WOW! I am Autistic, ADHD, suffering from depression and anxiety along with Diabetes, PCOS, Hypermobile EDS, and so many other issues yet my top priority is housing and my pets! This man's disabilities aren't an excuse and I am so glad OP left him!
op's wife in story 1 has me feeling called out. i love a good cup of tea myself.
He agreed, and I got a gently used PS4 out of it
S1 What an incredibly stupid thing to get angry about.
*Ah, yeah, that all makes perfect sense...
A custom-made costume might cost $500 max, I'm basing this on a cosplay I bought for a convention a few years ago(adjusted for inflation).
Yeah, I bought a replica of Princess Leia’s dress from ANH that I could wear if I joined the fam group Rebel Legion and it cost me $400-$450 back in 2017.
That seems like a crazy amount of money for a costume.
Story1: Shout out to OP's wife for being an agent of chaos
"It's not a lot of money for you."
Sure is easy to spend money when it isn't yours, huh dude?
Good morning everyone, send luck my way for the 7 assignments and 4 exams i have in the next 2.5 weeks😭
R/slash will be binged this month😂
The Emma story: Had my mouth open the entire time, when the OP said his own wife confessed to cheating, I yelled GURL WHET! 😂😂😂😂
But the joke didn't ruin the marriage. This is an old story.
he probably doesn't remember
to be fair he reads like thousands of stories so reading the same story again is possible
This is the best of... so yeesss it's been said before
@@AngelaTimmons-m2hit's a good story though. OPs friend is psychotic
@@AngelaTimmons-m2hbestof is short for best of redditor updates, it’s a specific subreddit, not rslashs best
He records these well in advance, so he's usually a bit later than most.
Story 2: imagine feeling so entitled to someone else's money that you tell them "$1500 is not much money for you" when you're talking about an unnecessary expense for yourself.
Oof, I almost fell for the "turns out my wife is cheating" gag. You'd think after yesterday's episode I'd have been a little more prepared.
You know the story is going to be good when it's most of the epidsode. 🔥🔥🔥
I wasn’t even expecting a second story
*First OP:* Tag yourself. I'm OP's wife 😂
Poor OP; he was trying to squash the issue only to find out it was more chaotic than he thought. Best of luck to OP and Dave, and I hope Emma gets the help she desperately needs.
*Second OP:* I'm glad OP broke up with her boyfriend. Before I read the update, I was thinking he needs to get some clothing material and watch a tutorial on how to make a costume. $1500?!
👎
First story: OP’s wife saw him poke a building which started to collapse onto him and grabbed popcorn to watch
First OP caught me off-guard with the wife joke. I was shocked 😂
"Divorcing Emma" sounds like a romantic dramedy spin-off to "Chasing Amy."
Story 1: Bro, that custody battles is going to be AWFUL.
Everyone on Reddit: DON'T DO IT OP!
OPs wife: *sips tea* 😈
Oh my god, first story should be turned into some kind of 10 minute film; like, dude, this is literally novel-material, not great material, mind you- but this is still some insane crap.
They really aren't kidding when they say, "Reality is stranger than fiction"
Story 1: wow, I listen to enough words stories to know when something incredibly insignificant causes such an issue It’s because of somebody else told. But still, I’m confused to what the endgame was supposed to be for this.
Story 1- what in the telenovela did I listen too?!
I don't think its his fault for having autism, more so his family's for not getting him proper help when he was younger to be able to cope with it. Sometimes you just don't have the ability to help yourself, everyone needs help. But yeah he was not in a situation where he could have a stable relationship.
Damn first OP really got me with the "my wife has been having an affair... j/k"
Story 1: I used to know an ‘Emma’. They're a special kind of people, to say it kindly
13:09 I just had a WHAT THE FUCK moment for like 2 minutes until I unpaused and listened lmao
i have watched this channel for years and have heard a lot of stories the first story in this video is one of the most unhinged i think ive ever heard
Wife in story 1: “Finally! A front row seat!”
Story 1: OP didn't ruin it, Emma did. This joke was just the last straw that exploded everything
Story 1 when he got back to the house after she told him everything he should have said to his wife "hey I didn't know this but it turns out I've been cheating on you for a while now"
Your my number 1 most listened to podcast on youtube. Came out on youtube wrapped😁always here for daily content
I relate to the last story so much. My brother also has autism and he's also incapable of managing his finances because of it, so my parents have full control over his account and it's expected I'll take over from them when they pass
rslash, i listened to you for 19,000 minutes this year. 😮
Last story: bf aint gonna use that money for a dang halloween costume 😂
1st run bro, her head is in highschool
The last story: Yes, 100%. If you as a person are barely able to take care of yourself, you should not be getting into a relationship. Your partner is not your babysitter or your parent.
How come RSlash doesn’t give a butthole score on BestOfRedditorUpdates when R/AITA shows up? He used to.
