I run both of these motors on my trailer. I run my vanguard 95 percent of the time. I have zero complaints on my vanguard. I have my Honda as a backup have yet to need it as a backup and have used both on larger jobs. Love all the content you put out. Thanks for all the knowledge and advice you give e. Much appreciated.

You can't use a honda as a backup. If the motor sets for more than 2 weeks or so, it won't start, due to the pilot jet being clogged with bad fuel.

I recently received an update on my Southeast trailer build informing me about the Honda supply shortage. I'll be the first to admit, when I hear replacing a Honda with Briggs style motor, I was immediately concerned. I did alot of research and digging into to the specs of these motors and given the timing of availability, I went with the vanguard. Even though I studied up on these, I do appreciate this post. Not only did it ease my remaining concerns but it speaks for it self when it comes to Southeast on how professional you guys are.
You saw a potential concern, knew there were many customers waiting on their builds with the same mindset I had... yet, you took the time and effort to do your best to make your customers feel comfortable.. Thank you, can't wait to see our new build!

I have just subscribed to your channel in hopes to get you closer to that mark that you were looking for in subscribers. Truly enjoy all the content. I have learned a lot over the time watching your videos and look forward to getting my soft wash/pressure wash business running here in the Northeast this spring.

I do like the vanguards. I had a gx390 Honda that ate its rings at 460hrs and burned a massive amount of oil so replaced with a 18hp V twin thats up to 2400hrs with only the key switch getting replaced. I put a new set of rings in the honda with the cylinder still like new so not sure what happened there. At the time they didnt have the 14hp single cylinder so that will replace the v twin that is a little overkill for a 3" water pump

Cocl video. Honda has such a monopoly on 1 cylinder engines that eventually evryone else just made compatible engines because so many tools are set up for Honda engines form factor from the factory. Nice to see they added some quality of life improvements to differentiate themselves.
Hondas probably more likely to have parts stocked at the local pressure washing store, but these things rarely go down.

Thank you for your videos. I've been watching and learning for almost a year. I want to get started soft washing, but still can't afford to. If you want another plus for the Vanguard motor. I live in California. Thanks to all the epa restraints I can't buy a pressure washer with a honda motor delivered legally in California. The Vanguard motors are carb compliant and are readily and legally delivered in California.

They're Honda clones, they will run well anyway since they are typically based off of the Honda GX platform. I know this because I have at least two Honda clone engines. One is a large MTD Powermore 420cc on a Cub Cadet snow blower, another 13 hp is on a Chinese import 5.5 kW generator and the last one is based off of the GX200 at 208cc not powering anything at the moment, but still runs really well.

I thought belt drive is a need for a buffer tank?

    • @southeastsoftwash4020
      @southeastsoftwash4020  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You thought wrong LOL
The belt itself has no magic ability to pull water
It’s the reduction of RPM that is accomplished with the belt pulley system that allows the pump to create a better suction and prime itself from a tank source.
This same effect can be accomplished via a gear box system.
Belt drive pressure washers have been around Longer than the gearbox style units, so that is why a lot of guys only know about belt drive.

I like Kohler's Command Pro line. I've had a couple older Command engines. One on an old New Holland garden tractor that I sold and another on one of my current Cub Cadet Series 2000 tractor. It runs without much issue unlike the Vanguard on my other Series 2000. My brother also has one on a go cart that we spent time having to re-assemble because the previous owner was...well, I don't know what they were trying to do but it required the purchase of a lot of fasteners (bolt and nuts) to get all of the covers back on. The engine runs like a top.

Well, looking at engine age, I have had Honda G and GX engines that have always started first pull, and some (like the Honda flat head G engines) are older than me, roughly 40 or more years old. I've had Briggs engines all along and they seem to require more maintenance or attention than the Hondas. Even the Daihatsu of Toyota Group-made Briggs Vanguard on one of my riders seems temperamental. Last year I added two Honda GX160 class engines to my fleet of equipment, one that came on a Honda HRC216HXC lawn mower and the other as a replacement engine on a Toro 21" snow blower. I would rather go Kohler Command Pro than Vanguard. That would be the American engine of choice for me, not Briggs.

Will never purchase another Honda power product. The carbs are horribly prone to clogging from bad fuel. If you fire the thing up every day, there is a chance it will keep running. If you go a week or more, you will be buying a new carb, since cleaning the old one to make it run right, again, is nearly impossible. The Briggs products don't have this issue.
