These are easily my favorite DGR videos. Whenever he does a no skip run. But this one was the best so far, because we got levels from every difficulty and so much variety. More of this.

FYI the blonde-haired girl costume is Chitoge Kirisaki (pronounced chee-toe-gay key-ree-sah-key) from the series Nisekoi (knee-say-koh-ee). It's a series that was published in Shonen Jump (in Japan and internationally), and Nintendo has partnered with Shueisha in the past for things (like the Famicom Mini).💖
Yeah, I was sort of wondering why Dave was using all his skips on expert. I know he wanted to conserve lives, but we all know that there are many super expert levels that aren’t possible for the vast majority of us, even if we had a million lives.

I really miss the amibos, and the fact you could unlock most of them on MM1 without having the amibo figures themselves was a really cool concept, definitely the main thing i wish they had in MM2.

Ryu played that spinning bomb level before. There's something wrong with the level. There's supposed to be another bomb that spawns, but for some reason it doesn't. It only works in the editor.

Ryu got that bomb level recently, as well. It's a janky timing issue. There's supposed to be a bomb in the spike pit. I don't honestly remember how he got around it.

I missed the 100 mario challenge when I played SMM2. It's much more thrilling to get to the final level with your last live and persevere. But with infinite lifes and much more 1Up availability you just end up "Oh, I made it to level X before I got bored"
Except you've clearly never played endless because you don't get infinite lives, in fact you start with much less. The greater 1up availability is also just individual level creators being more generous. In exchange the levels end up being much harder on a general basis.
You use the Konami code or something? How'd you get infinite lives?

I remember the “Spinning on Bombs 2” level…Ryu failed to beat it in one of his videos. As soon as I saw that you were up against it too, I lost hope…

Love, love, love the SMM1 content! Ryu started back into it and it’s really been superior. I’d love it if you could layer in SMM1 a little more often.
Funny, I stopped watching Ryu because of all the SMM1 content. Looks like he's been drifting back to SMM2 though, this kinda video really shows why SMM2 is better content all around, all the levels were bad, the mechanics were terrible and people just didn't know how to build levels. Plus endless >>> 100 man

It's either the same level or a copy. I knew Dave's run was over once I saw that setup with ice block and a shelf.
Yeah, he did. He discovered in the editor that there's another bomb that supposed to be there that doesn't spawn correctly.

I swore there was already a video of Dave playing this level and then finding the missing bomb in the editor? I've definitely seen it and never watched Ryu before I've seen a handful of Panga so could've been him but I swore it was Dave. I feel like the entire video was just that level so maybe Chris did a short preview video to get it out faster?
Oh man this reminds me of the days when I discovered Dave! Pre-MM2 when he’d do this super expert challenge. Been a great road with DGR ❤
I love how he said "Japanese level, no touching", but setting the controller down made him spin. Could have messed the auto level up.
Ok, gotta ask. What's the point if dying before each challenge to get the lives down to show many lives he had left? Every One-Up he got will have messed up 5he count anyway. All he needed to do was keep track of deaths!
Small suggestion if you ever try this challenge again: Instead of starting with four skips, you start with one and then earn another one for every difficulty that you clear.

The fact that someone in the Twitch chat said “And he says he has 171 IQ” or whatever on the bomb level. Please, I’d love to see them play it an beat it lol. I honestly can’t see how you’d beat that level, I’d be interested to know if has been cleared or if there was an update to MM1 at some point that changed the render distance so the level just can’t be beaten because the bomb despawns, etc.

Panga or Thab played that bomb level (I think it was Panga). There are two bombs that spawn on the upper level that are jank because of scrolling. I think he waited or scrolled the screen up from underneath

Seeing mario maker 1 is so strange. It’s like it’s both missing and having more content than the second one at the same time. Man I miss how you could use different sprites like a playable goomba. As well as the mini games and stuff. Mario maker 2 had more content but it felt like it had less without all the Easter eggs and sprites you can unlock

I really miss the completion from SMM1. Endless is like if your lover made you wear a chastity cage. Gets annoying after a while. I doubt it will happen, but you could find a pacifist style troll level on easy.
Wasting the last skip on that extremely easy level (the one before the bombs) angered me so much 😭😭

Because they're an exploit that was never nintended to be an actual thing, so consistent behavior between MM games is not guaranteed.
Every MarioTuber ever: such a janky level for not allowing me to one shot it.
I like this concept. But, here's a better take on it.
1: Start on Easy and complete a full page.
2: You start with 1 skip, per usual.
3: Every single 1-up you pick up in a level counts as an additional skip. It only counts when you progress the level. Even when you exceed the allowed 3 additional lives. Say you find a bonus room with 5 1-up's. You are only allowed to stockpile those 5. Should you revisit that room again, it doesn't stockpile additional skips.
4: Every 1-up you finish the level with is 1 look at the level viewer. They only work on the next level or if you skip it. Example, if you finish the level with 2 1-up's, you can only use the level viewer twice on the next level, or twice on the first level skipped (aka, the second upcoming level).
5: If the level has a slice of cheese, whether gouda or cheddah, subtracts 1 skip and 1 peek at level viewer. The only exception, is when it's unintentionally discovered (you commit and skip part of the level). Intentional is when you know you cheese it after seeing the cheese.

Mario Maker 1 gets redundant so quickly. 1 and 2 are both full of garbage, but going back to 1, it comes off as so bare bones.
