Again I must ask: If the life counter is "wrong" as soon as you get an extra life anyway, what is the value of the intentional deaths at the start of Normal and Expert?
In that case, every time he gets extra lives he should intentionally die to reset it.

@@shankararhuddlan270 you’re right, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t bother me either - in fact this never crossed my mind until I read OP’s comment. But in his defense it’s logically inconsistent and as a viewer it’s hard to follow, because his life counter in the game isn’t his actual life count.
Well, tbh, nothing about one grown man watching another play video games ever "matters." But that's no excuse for tolerating wasted effort and inefficiency. Life is short. 🤪

If I were you I would start with the super expert and go descendingly better than ascendingly, get rid of the hard first so that if you die and lose the run fast u don't waste your time playing tons of levels to end up losing in the end
Just finish super expert first remember your lives, go to expert finish it, remember your lives, go to normal then easy and congrats, once u finish super expert and expert the run is yours and u waste way less time and effort if u lost early than late
While that would be more efficient, it's not as good for content creation.

100 lives over all difficulties is hard to be sure, but not impossible.
Ryukahr did it, and he makes it even harder: On the first Easy level, he deliberately reduces his life counter to 1, relying purely on earning 1-ups for a safety net.
the rules Dave used made it so that 1ups didn't count... for whatever reason I don't really get

One of these players managed to beat all four difficulties.

Dave is good in the game because he plays it a lot, but he never claimed to be a top player.
It is not fair to compare them.
Dave would need more practican 100 Mario SMM1 challenges

On the chomp level, all he had to do was wait in the safe crack in the wall until the three comps were out of the way, but he just kept heading for the left vertical slot and always got pushed out by the springs into the chomps... I wanted to scream.
Fun Fact: (since he killed them both in one hit) in SMM1 if you give a big goomba a key you only need to split it to get it, not kill it.
Part 2. In both games, Boo Rings with keiare like pink coins, you need to kill all seven for the key. You were unlucky though since there were multiple rings and still only got it from the last one.
I guess we all agree that lfes should count, that's what I think at least.
The last level pick a pipe nonsense was heartbreaking. Let's be real, the run was over at this point anyway, but could've been a different story if lifes count.^^
Solid run Dave, you'll get the 100 challenge one of these days. And for the record, I for one don't mind a little taint here and there 😜

The taint isn't a big deal to me considering you ran out of lives anyway. I don't see why there has to be a limit on skips for this challenge or why it has to be that 1-ups don't count.

Maybe four skips would be the thing to do, that’s like a skip for each difficulty…except you can use them whenever.

Is it just me or did anyone else notice that the clown car in experticus turned into a princess car at first and Bowser jr turned into a luigi riding a mario/yoshi hybrid? Then so did hammer bro with a red hat and then princess was riding bowser.

What a bunch of bullshit final levels, my man, you have my respect. Also, before they shut down SMM1, make sure you give a try to Nikki's Puzzling Pictures by Kiavik, I am sure you will love it and that it will restore the faith in humanity you lost during the last levels of that run.

The super expert levels in this are such trash😭
I still think this is a dumb idea without allowing 1-ups. You should try ryukahrs version where he starts easy with 1 life and gets as many 1-ups as he can
Or you can let him create his own content and spin on challenges. People don't have to do everything the same. That would be boring watching every streamer new the exact same
