    I have been driving my new Niro EV for a few weeks now. Just like the previous version it is one of the best EVs for its size / price on the market. The new version is a bit more refined, has better kit and has better styling. Yes the charging speed could be better but otherwise not much to complain about. The residual value if it follows the pattern of the previous model should be good and running costs are low.

    Thomas, I keep wondering, whenever you make a review of an EV, you drive it on the autobahn and then you share the consumption in city driving and according to the manufacturer. Please share with us the consumption with higher speed ( 140 km / h ). No one is sharing that info, why? I really liked the Bmw X1 review that you made but there was also no consumption. How can I make educated decision on which car to buy if I dont have all the info? I ordered Bmw X1 plug in hybrid 30e. And I ordered it in the dark, I was wondering if the ix1 would be better but I dont know that highway/autobahn 140 km/h consumption. Please do share that info for every EV.

    really don't like the rear turning indicators hidden down where reversing and fog lights live. makes it a lot harder to see i m really surprised that their positioning is legal. maybe the read is designed for a US market where blinking side rear (red) light is a.so a valid form of indicating- as those lights are at a sensible level

    @Autogefühl Have you considered adding a conclusion section at the end where you give your opinion on if it is something that you would buy? A lot of people respect your opinion, so it would be great to know if a product you testing is a place where you put your own money.

      the Android Automotive in the Renault Megane is cool, however if you use Carplay anyway who cares, the overall integration of the systems and the drive is better in the Kia Niro, feels more premium. Although the Renault is really good as well

    Though not exactly an EV that sparks a 'desire' to own it, the fact that the Kia Niro is just such a well-rounded, competent, everyday-reliable kinda car shows just why it's predecessor was the second highest selling EV in the UK last year, just behind the Tesla Model 3.
    If I was needing to run an electric SUV, this is the one I'd choose, for sure 👍

Interesting to see the high speed test on the autobahn, I took it on the motorway here in the UK and it performed flawlessly but I was curious how it would handle at higher speeds. I test drove the model 2 as that was the dealers demonstrator, really nice to see what the higher specification offers.

      I don't get this argument at all. They are two different style cars operating in different markets. The Niro is a compact SUV style. The EV6 us a sporty low slung hatch and is far too big for many people. Most people who buy a Niro would just see an EV6 as being not the type of car that suits them. The price is irrelevant. Plus, on the one hand you get fast charging. To many people, that is of no importance. And on the other hand, choosing the base spec 'air', you lose virtually all the toys.

    I have always found it bit funny, the "animal free" interior stuff. Quite usually it means a lot of plastic :D Altough i dont think that environment is that much thought of when making EV and the batterys.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. Please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: th-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/w-d-xo.html
      In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which exact body part you would be murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
      The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination.
      If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: th-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/w-d-xo.html
      Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
      For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex or Desertex or Miriam). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. By ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) %. So it is the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable.
      In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And if you want the slick look or something to wipe clean easier, that is possible with animal free leatherette, even in ventilated options.
      And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: th-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/w-d-xo.html
      More and more natural materials are rising: th-cam.com/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/yG3z7m6UqNg/w-d-xo.html
      Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

      @evokki0075 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@autogefuehl Thank you very much! A lot of good and valid information.
      And yes, I must say, Im not personaly in anyways against the change from the animal skin usage to more sustainable options. The consern for the animals wellbeing, climatchange and the animal rights is very real. It just feels that it all just fades away too often in hands of a marketing divisions of companys, as the money making comes (usually) first for the big companys. Words and "how sustainable it sounds" in too many cases is sounding better than the reality is. Maybe im too skeptic about the companys, as so many really do what they say and promise, i dont know 🤷‍♂️
      But really thanks for all of the infomation, i did learn a lot.
      And yeah, I really hope we can find more sustainable way to produce those batterys for the electric cars, as they seem to be somewhat popular in the comming decade too.
      I must add here at the end, that I am quite happy with my fabric seats, although my car is 25 years old mercedes coupe :D I quess its someways good that i drive it as long as it lasts 👍
