And then 9 years later, he regains as the all-time leader in passing touchdowns in a season when he pass 55 touchdowns passing Tom Brady’s record of 50 in 2007.
The Colts really had the perfect offense. I think if Manning hadn't been pulled in some of those games, he could have had 8-10 TD passes in a game. When you can get 6 in a half, you are on fire. Look at those weapons. Harrison, Wayne, Stokely, Clark, Pollard and James. That is a Madden lineup right there.
I remember this season, that offense was electrifying. Between Harrison, stokley, Clark, james, pollard, and wayne. And they truly made it look easy. Could only imagine how much fun it was being a fan during a home game.
What's crazy about his 2004 season is his 9.9% TD percentage. He got pulled early a lot of these games. Dungy should have let him break the single game record as well.
49 touchdowns in only 14 games. He was on pace for 56. I'm a Bears fan but I've always considered him the goat. Not just his career passer rating but even his qbr numbers are significantly higher than Rodgers, Brees and even Brady.
@@MichaelMurphy-kj3xf Typo. Regardless, throwing a TD every 10 passes, that season is neck and neck with Marino's 84 campaign for greatest regular season performance.
The ultimate field general. Even when he broke the record he was only worried about winning the game (telling the crowd to quiet down so he could call the play).
Was at the Jacksonville home game when I was a kid, it truly was an amazing experience it would get so quiet when the offense was on the field such an great team
I swear the colts must've put a computer chip in Peyton's brain and gave him a robotic right arm, cause he looks like a QB machine in these clips. Perfect reads and throws. His record is doubly impressive considering this was before todays pass friendly rules and modern sophisticated offenses
Can you do a video on any of our players best season with the team? Like a career high season. Would love to see more Dallas Clark and Jacob Tamme highlights along with more offensive line highlights. We gotta praise our O-Line and give them love too. Also, throw in a a few horrible games, make us fans remain humble! Love the content. Im a fan of the team since 1998 born and raised in California.
I marvel not only at Peyton and the Colts offense, but at the transition underway in broadcast technology at this time. Look at the difference between the SD and HD games! We forget how amazing HD looked back then.
The most efficient season ever (2004 - 1 TD pass every 10 attempts, threw for a 1st down on 45.5% of his attempts) & the most prolific season ever (Most Points in a Single Season - 606, Most TD Passes in a Single Season - 55, Most Passing Yards in a Single Season - 5477) with two different teams in the same career. Was very easily arguable, the best QB in the NFL for all but 2 seasons (2007, 2010) from 2003-2013. His teams had a 77.5% winning %* in games he started in that stretch. * - excludes games his team rested starters for seeding & played a different QB
@@P0RKINS2he was injured in 2011, but either way I don’t think he would have been better than Rodgers in 2011. But I agree he had the best prime ever he should have been 1st team all pro 2006 instead of Brees. So he should have 8 First Team All Pros.
Manning is the closest NFL QB to ever throw a touchdown every 10 passes. That statline alone is wild. In a standard good season, 4000 yards, 30 TD's, you probably throw about 550-600 attempts, or about 5-5.5% of all passes go for TD's. He threw the ball 497 times all year, which is extremely low for a QB, but the efficiency was wild. Truly a wonder how this team got figured out, props to New England for doing so.
If you really look at the time he takes to find his man and throw the football when he receives it, it's about 3 seconds, compared to these new quarterbacks it's about 12 to 15 seconds, Peyton Manning was that dawg
Outside of rodgers 2011 season this is probably the best qb season In my opinion. Even better than 2013. Because he is in his physical prime throwing lasers all over the field
Considering that the Peyton Manning owned Denver back in these days as the Wild Card Round proved, I wonder how many he would have thrown had the Colts not decided to bench their starters in week 17.
I’ve seemed to stumble back here again and just wanted to say that no one will ever convince me Peyton Manning isn’t the greatest QB ever. If manning would’ve spent his entire career with the Pats he would’ve won like 10+ Super Bowls
lets not forget Peyton took a knee at the end of that Ravens game in week 15? he could’ve and would’ve scored in the red zone, but respectfully took a knee for Ray Lewis and that D.
Manning was on Top of Greatness by himself with Kurt Warner! Brady was just coming up. One thing Manning showed is you don't need best offensive line. A Qb who has his great awareness and anticipation and timing because he snaps back and quickly releases ball timing with WR where they need to be. Of course in order to pull this off you better be pinpoint accurate. I'm pretty most people can master the timing of drop back and releasing ball which offsets bad offensive line, as you see most of passes are thrown on route quick decision making, but most people are not that accurate or pinpoint like manning was. He didn't have strongest arm as you can see. When his arm got weaker he got better more control of ball with broncos. Kurt Warner, Tom Brady and Peyton manning are greatest Qb's to ever play! But Peyton was King of HIll by himself for long time because warner was injured and Brady was up and coming and Peyton the Great manning he had resurgence at end of his career.
Thank you for ALL the Colts uploads. COLTS fans are lucky to have you. Watching Peyton in a Colts uniform never gets old.
