Probably not their first. The amount of heat you have to inject in that board for even a single joint to melt would have made a disaster if they weren't at least moderately skilled (or at least honest enough to recognize their level). It looks like they flooded the area with flux, tried to use low-melt, it didn't work so they just cut the connector's legs.
THe problem is we watch you do these jobs and some of us can convince ourselves it is something that can be easily repeated by a novice. It's because you are so good that we are so bad, lol. Thank you for all the hard work!
Thank you. This company rocks you mail, it, you fix it, you bill it and ship it back. The correspondence is good. Just wanna say thank you for having a decent business in the good old USA.
I appreciate your knowledge, and especially appreciated your wisdom on focusing on what makes you unique. I don't lack passion, I lack direction. It's one thing to inform people on what the repair process is, it's even greater when you share what truly matters, being unique, and making yourself valuable. Bucking conformity is difficult, sometimes very difficult, but in the end the reward will be greater.
Every human being is Unique and has futurs like no others , we are all special in our own ways , thats why you should always aim at being original NOT A COPY ... Do your own thing .... . .. .. . . i really like it , thank you
Up to now, I always keep watching your video story of you when you were starting out - that iphone 4, 4s? Screen that you cracked several times, I love that story.
Alex, you ARE amazing. I learn more technique and tricks watching you. Yeah, that plunger on the sucker will knock out an LED or even crack a lens. Amazing products, too. You sold me on a sucker and I need some more wick and solder. Maybe something else, too.
Thank you for all ur great videos. You have got myself back into doing this work and also teaching my sons how to do this trade aswell. You are the best out here.
For as many 4090's you repair Alex. I think you deserve a kick back from the companies that make these boards and for the connector manufacturer. I'd like to know who bright idea it was to make gpu's with only one power connector. Your fired! 😅😅 God bless Alex and HELLO!! to Big Boss, your father, mother, sister, wife and kiddos❤🖐🖐
Alex, love you videos. Used to have my own electric repair appliance shop. many times a customer would bring in a job they had started and got into trouble If the Hiroshima was too bad I would not work on it... too many problems ... Man ( customer) has to know his limitations
If I can repair something, I will. But if I don't have the skill or expertise to repair it, I'll leave it to the pros. It can definitely save money in the long run.
NorthridgeFix : I think Nvidia should 100 % recall all of the 4080-s preemptively and most definitely all of the 4090-s. This connector is mechanically and electrically too weak for the 641 Watts of quite regular peak power and continuous 530-580 Watts of power consumption that the 4090 draws.
I will bet you that Nvidia will change the connector on the 5000 series in some way and if they do that, people will then know this connector was wack.
Yay!!! 🎉 Another NorthridgeFix video!! I know they take you time to record/edit/upload, Alex, but could we PLEASE get videos a bit more frequently? Maybe something like 2 per week, at LEAST, would be nice 👌 Thanks for ALL you do, bud 😃✌️❤️
On thick circuit boards , I lay the area of the board on a small heat plate to pre-heat the area of the board I work on, the heat plate gets up to 500 deg F, or 250 Deg C. it's helps when removing components.
Its kinda unsettling how many people continue to try to do jobs like this with little to zero experience on such a pricy device. I have seen a huge influx of people also wanting to do the rog ally and steam deck ram upgrade. I then ask them to see what equipment they are going to try it with and I kid you not the last guy shows me a soldering iron kit he got on amazon for 40$... im not even joking. The guy thinks you can do bga soldering with a soldering iron..... I have seen it all, so many people just hear soldering, and think because they can solder two wires together on a broken dryer cord they can do the same thing on a 2000$ device at a microscopic level. Please guys have a bit more diligence when it comes to researching the procedures and equipment needed! Equipment alone on some of these devices your going to be spending close or more than the device is worth to do it properly and anything less and your going to ruin said device entirely and end up costing you more than it would to just send it to the experts. I myself have a reflow station and a decent amount of equipment but id never in my wildest dreams attempt bga work or esp a power connector on a 2000$ gpu. I would rather spend the few hundred bucks for the peice of mind that its not only done right, but theres a warranty on the work itself being done.
I think it's your fault for the motivation that people get, they watch your videos like me now and get inspired and think they know and can do it themselves 😃 joke aside, great job!
I low-key wanted to hear Alex joke about how shiny the solder balls were and how one can use them to put on makeup, use them as a security mirror, etc...😂
You are the number one board man,if you had of come and seen me 60 years ago l could of taught you a lot. I to old now so take care of this place for a old AU Digger😅😅
I'm going to buy the tools and start fixing shit around, didn't have the balls to fix my wife's macbook but will do it for the the future repairs, hopefully i don't have to 🤞
Possible suggestion for you. When we used to solder suck boards and were limited with space, we used a small piece of silicon tube on the sucker. It allows to mate to a flat surface but maintains a seal and its heat resistant
How would you recommend people learn to solder more complicated or technically challenging components? I see all the time people sending you their failed repairs on these types of parts. Buy non-working boards and practice?
The cold table is worse than dirty lungs, d'you know?! It's not that I don't remember what waa 34-35 cm, but, Quick ain't Varenne and I don't care if a girl of 160 cm thinks she can move my car without servo-assisted steering. Namastè.
Long Live Nvidia. If there is no Nvidia you would go bankrupt 😁. I have a feeling that you will have to fix every RTX 4090 out there. I am joking. Good work man.
Big fan of Alex! Not many repair people like him. You can throw anything and he will fix it... If there's a chance! While others will just say "buy a new one". I hope one day I can reach his level and be part of the legacy. I'm a perfectionist and try to be honest and fair allllll the time... Even if life tells me to be another way! But at the end of the day, Pride can't be bought. And you can only have pride if everything you did was for the good. Another day, another lesson. Thank you Alex! 🙂
Respekt for the man who got da balls to try his first soldier job on a 4090 😅
Have to agree with that one. Even though he failed his first attempt, I hope he keeps going and improves his skills.
@@stretchable4647not bad actually, but that guy know when to stop
@@maklogetrich2378 I'm guessing he decided to stop when that connector pulled away from the board without any legs attached and a piece melted off
Yeah, and luckily he also understood when to stop when it didn't work out. I was a small wonder no components were missing from the board.
Probably not their first. I think he said exactly that in one of his videos 😂
Funny, watching these jobs makes me feel the exact opposite.

We appreciate you, Alex! I do give props to the user who attempted the repair!
Had to fix Yamaha Silent Violin preamp with battery corrosion on it, and you make it look so easy to fix micro components!

God bless that man who tries it and God bless you Alex who repairs it thanks for sharing your knowledge dear ❤❤❤❤
You are an artist when it comes to soldering! Great Job!
You are definitely amazing Northridge. One of my favorite channels,
THIS IS ART. A BEAUTIFUL JOB
Alex, you ARE amazing. I learn more technique and tricks watching you.

Some can and many cannot, thats life. Great vid once again👍
You continue to amaze the world mate
I really hope you find a company to help with Northridge Fix hot tweezers. It would be a game changer.
Your a Saint for dealing with all these idiots...

Nice, watching from Down Under! 👍
Alex brooooo, hope ur house is treating you good man!!! I am the No1 fan of ur skillful vidoes

Rather than destroy a good board, clip all of the leads off of the bad connector and remove them one at a time.
You did an amazing job !
and you're right; we're all amazing in our ways. I'm an amazing viewer. 🥳
just from watching youtube doesnt mean you're an expert now
“Or maybe is just me” said one of the best in the world 🤣
It seems so easy... Well done Alex !
i wanted to know how many 4080,4090 you have done, love this channel !
"And we almost all ways ship out next day" Needs to be a T shirt id wear it!😁

A very expensive GPU but with a very weak power connector.
Nvidia didn't care because they knew their loyal fans will purchase their product.
More like people don't have options, I know AMD is there and then Intel but for certain works Nvidia GPUs are the best.
6:59 *Looks like pin number 3 wanna play games." 🤣
Looking at your soldering experience...it is really awesome...many failed...
Another great job, well done!
Was that a Wal-Mart ONN monitor? Nice.
Look at this Hiroshima, don't hold anything back, lol!
I still have my "NF Solder Sucker" from the 1970's.
Alex, the only exception is Air Jordans. It will definitely make you play better basketball 😆
You Alex are not amazing but you are created with limits.
God bless you and your family, how is your new house coming along?
You ARE amazing 😁
Serious suction. LOL Great work Alex.:)

Thank you Alex👍🙏🏻
I used to solder and make cables during school and IT work... But, I never imagined repairing expensive GPUs 😢
my god what the heck did that guy think he was doing! to his ~$2,000 graphics card OMG!!! D:
Better to use the NF Sucker instead of copper to absorb, save costs.
Came in for repair.
Better than factory, amazing work as usual.
YOU ARE THE BEST !!!!!!~~~~~~
Masterful!
"Tell me that I am not amazing..." now that got me laughing 😂
Why not using glue on the connector, would it not break again?
connector is faulty itself
I find you videos educational thank you
You are absolutly amazing🎉
We all have to start somewhere.
Nvidia can make money because ..all this people are conned ..
I'm going to buy the tools and start fixing shit around, didn't have the balls to fix my wife's macbook but will do it for the the future repairs, hopefully i don't have to 🤞

He is right, better than factory.

Better than Factory Best Speed Repair business 😊
8:30 Could you have just sucked the pin with the solder?
Amazing you are amazing!
What is that green liquid for that you used in the end? It looks like it was for repairing the scratches on the board.
Amazing 😮
Its like a doctor so careful 😮😮
How would you recommend people learn to solder more complicated or technically challenging components? I see all the time people sending you their failed repairs on these types of parts. Buy non-working boards and practice?
I just wonder why he did that….. I have asus Rog rtx4080 and they give you 3 year warrantee on the card
If you could ask customer it would solve my curiosity!!! Thank you sir
Maybe he watercooled it and broke the warranty seal?
Wooo good answer,, I thin your correct sir 😮
I have same design gpu in 4080!!! It is dope card!! Runs gta v in max setting at 62c and pretty quiet
ouch.
Does the NF.Sucker beat an ENGINEER SS-02?
You ARE amazing Alex !!!
Amount of 4090 sent to repair is staggering.
You get down, my dude.
shoil make a coilwine repair on a gpu and se if u can get it to go away
Excellent 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Somebody has to come up with a double decker socket for this card.

have you ever try to repair a pc psu? i don't know if you have a video on that subjet?
Nvidia makes trillions and use cheap connectors .....it's time they use metal connectors
