This popped up in my feed and I clicked it because I'm below a novice at soldering and it would do me some good to watch someone with experience. Even as a novice repairing electronics, at least I've never considered taking an angle grinder to a pcb! Great explanation on why you charge what you do. You don't charge for your time, you charge for your experience and skills.
I don’t understand why people do things like this. On what planet do you take a dremel and burn off the board down to the ground plane?! I know a lot about electronics (especially the digital EE side), but I have to go slow and work carefully because, unlike Alex, I don’t do this professionally day-in and day-out. It’s impressive how much SMT skill is on display, but when he reworks a pad or lays down a bodge trace, he knows by sight and repetition exactly how to do it. I have to go and watch a video for reference to ensure I don’t do something stupid, and even then I still make dumb mistakes (I’ve lifted-off more pads than a helicopter pilot). Take the time to do it as carefully as possible, and make sure you have the right tools and parts - then you won’t have to see your borked up attempt getting roasted by Alex and the comments section.
9:23 he is saying the right thing, you don't pay the price of repair, you pay the price for the experience, bcz he has so many years of experience, he can repair these consoles in 10 mins which other repair shop takes hours to do. In any business, time is money, the time you invested in your early days will return you with a lot of money later.
Another smaller thing to consider is the cost of the equipment, tools, and supplies. It may have only taken me 5 minutes to fix your stuff, but I needed tools and equipment that cost over $2,000.
11:17 It only makes sense if the customer consents to being charged more if the service is quicker. If there's an unknown amount of turnaround time they aren't explicitly consenting to faster service.
Another PS5 rescued going down the drain. That PS5 shorted grinded traces was a perfect example of how not to do things if you dont know how to do it right. Good work Alex!
"This was easy, can you do something hard?" Making it look easy is the name of the game man... I tried changing a V520B in a SNES controller and the traces were lifting left and right, bending the jump wire would tear the traces, soldering the jumping wire would unsolder the other end... It was hell, i failed... In theory. Grind the mask, jump wire. In practice, it's something else...

The micro probes you sell are excellent for spreading super thin layers of solder mask on the board. I find it to be much more precise than using tweezers or a razor blade. Give it a shot.

I have seen another TH-cam channel that seems to pride itself on doing massively time-consuming video GPU reballing whilst throwing shade on channels that don't. The chemistry of UV mask and heat is simple, heat makes chemical reactions happen faster. However, you do not always want chemical reactions to happen faster, some chemicals can get explosive when they are hot :D
Hey Alex! Please explain to me something. My daily job is mounting move sensors in home alarm security system. Why on thoose ground is marked as COM and other wire is DATA? Why instead GND and +? This is confusing. Please tell me why? It is much simplier in my way...

Hello Alex, I was wondering have you ever been working on car multimedia? I've got Citroen/Peugeot navigation NG4, and the screen is flickering. The thing is that it flickers when it starts, and then no image. When I press night mode button twice, image shows but for a few seconds only. Any clue or idea?

At 14:56 some solder fills in the grounded circle pad, would that cause issues if it touches any metal on the case? Or is it way to small to do anything?
