Alex said *"Time is more expensive than money."*
He is a wise man.
Facts!
@@gilbertrodriguez6053 olaf scholz need some advice from alex.
Sure he is. I will remember this. Don't waste time.
not so fast if u charge as much as a new ps5 then u create waste .
Some times it takes a little bit longer depending...
When somebody with construction experience works on precision electronics.
more like DEstruction 😂💥
@HazeAnderson Yeah, no kidding. My guy used a jack hammer.
☠️
@@charanko2971Now come on, that’s a bit hyperbolic. He just used a belt sander.
Looks like the customer outta stick with coloring with crayons 🖍️
Good news for the customer. Since it took longer to fix because of the blown fuses, they get charged less. Amazing! =)
Big boss is so good he could have got windows installed on that PS5 if he wanted to
😂true
😂😂
Not If he Inserts it like shown the wrong way :D
@@t4rif4rino, he can do it either way and both ways at the same time
simp
I come here for the philosophical outlook on life, and stayed for the ps5 board repair.
This popped up in my feed and I clicked it because I'm below a novice at soldering and it would do me some good to watch someone with experience.
Even as a novice repairing electronics, at least I've never considered taking an angle grinder to a pcb!
Great explanation on why you charge what you do. You don't charge for your time, you charge for your experience and skills.
Alex, when you said about time "one second closer to death". That's how I view my birthdays "one year closer to death". 😂. I'll be 52 in April 2024.
Many more years to come sir
I just turned 58 a couple of months ago and for the life of me I can't figure out where the last 25 to 30 years went. Do you feel the same?
Thanks and Happy new years to you and your family ..
Make every second count! Good job, greetings from UK to you and Big Boss.
I don’t understand why people do things like this. On what planet do you take a dremel and burn off the board down to the ground plane?! I know a lot about electronics (especially the digital EE side), but I have to go slow and work carefully because, unlike Alex, I don’t do this professionally day-in and day-out. It’s impressive how much SMT skill is on display, but when he reworks a pad or lays down a bodge trace, he knows by sight and repetition exactly how to do it. I have to go and watch a video for reference to ensure I don’t do something stupid, and even then I still make dumb mistakes (I’ve lifted-off more pads than a helicopter pilot). Take the time to do it as carefully as possible, and make sure you have the right tools and parts - then you won’t have to see your borked up attempt getting roasted by Alex and the comments section.
That repair was not better than factory 😢
My PS5 still running like a champ!
Thank you, Alex. 😊
Can't forget about the Boss
yourknowlege is incredible!!! thank you for all your videos
9:23 he is saying the right thing, you don't pay the price of repair, you pay the price for the experience, bcz he has so many years of experience, he can repair these consoles in 10 mins which other repair shop takes hours to do. In any business, time is money, the time you invested in your early days will return you with a lot of money later.
Another smaller thing to consider is the cost of the equipment, tools, and supplies. It may have only taken me 5 minutes to fix your stuff, but I needed tools and equipment that cost over $2,000.
first time I see someone soldering to internal pcb layers. amazing job as usual
Thank you, teacher
thank you for insight on business pretty cool never thought of it that way
The micro probes you sell are excellent for spreading super thin layers of solder mask on the board. I find it to be much more precise than using tweezers or a razor blade. Give it a shot.
Congrats Alex. Your techinic is awesome. I’m learning a lot with your content. Tks from Brazil 🇧🇷.
thats exactly what the PS5 owner thought and tried to apply all that "knowledge" into fixing his console.
Same for me. I´m learning a lot how to emprove my soldering skills and techniques.
@@garryarganis5801 bro it's ok to learn 😅 but not on something expensive though
11:17 It only makes sense if the customer consents to being charged more if the service is quicker. If there's an unknown amount of turnaround time they aren't explicitly consenting to faster service.
Basically they get charged more if it takes less time for the same flat rate
maybe you missed that part.
That is still outrageous, If it is a simple fix you get charged mode but a more complicated fix is not? That doesn't make sense to me.
How do you know what fuses/capacitors/resistors to use? I don't imagine you have schematics for everything you repair?
That's the best advise I got in my current situation. If it takes to much of my time.... then skip. Thank you
Tks Alex.
Absolut right! Time is most important!
Sums it up, work smarter, not harder. NorthridgeFix is the man!
Love All your videos. As a studying student, (EET), it is important to continue in practicing the application skills.
~ may the New Year bring the prosperity you justly deserve. Thank you.
As a locksmith I can tell you, people will almost always go the cheaper route.
Another PS5 rescued going down the drain. That PS5 shorted grinded traces was a perfect example of how not to do things if you dont know how to do it right. Good work Alex!
We had a Series X come in for HDMI. A previous repair shop worked on it and it was like a tornado ripped through. 16 out of the 19 pads were ripped off. There were new wires placed wayyyyy longer than needed and too short in places. We told the customer we are not doing this repair and advised the customer to go to the original repair shot to have them deal with their mess.
Previous repair shop? You mean someone who watched a video..right?
Love this channel!
Dude is awesome and funny as well. Keep up the good content 🙂
Amazing fix and troubleshooting, better than factory
Alex good job bro pay my respect to your Boss of all bosses God bless you and your team ❤❤❤
Inspiring!
Brasil...muito bom seu trabalho .
Great content Alex. Your videos are so educative and inspiring. However I just want to know if you repair GPUs on laptops cuz i have a 2020 acer predator helios 300 with a gpu problem and it may be a bad vram or something else. I used to have error code 43 on GPU in device manager and now the GPU has dissapeared from the device manager and can only be seen from the bios. I need to know before mailing it because i haven't seen any video where you replace vrams.
This is much more than client says "oh was just a wire, you do nothing special" .
I’ll never understand why people that have no clue what they are doing would ever even attempt to fix it.
Love to watch a master go back and fix a complete mess at a Better Than Factory (BTF) level.
That was far from factory, looked like an abstract painting. But it works, that’s the main thing. Good job.
Nice work man !! you were givin a hack job and make it work again.
Even gives money making advice, very wise.
Time is the most valuable thing to give. you never get it back.
it just keeps going with or without you.
Easy? They never did this job! It's unbelievable how you repair those tiny things.
You forgot to warn us to wear our UV glasses!
Id be embarrassed to send that in. Some people just dont get it. But hey..these idiots keep you in business
What primary advise would you give if someone wants to handle graphics cards or something to avoid damage?
بارك الله فيك
idk wtf im looking at but i always watch all your videos, maybe one day ill start learning how to do repairs
Alex, What's up with the Hot Tweezers? Did you find a good set to sell to us yet?
Hey Alex! Please explain to me something. My daily job is mounting move sensors in home alarm security system.
Why on thoose ground is marked as COM and other wire is DATA? Why instead GND and +? This is confusing. Please tell me why? It is much simplier in my way...
greetings from Portugal
I remember when you was working on a system years ago that had dog or cat piss on it and you ways saying this piss is getting out of control it smells like burnt peanuts 🥜 lmao 🤣 made me laugh so much classic
Gostaria de saber qual máscara uv é essa que você usa sem precisar da luz uv com secagem rápida?
Haha nice analogy 👍
Hello Alex, I was wondering have you ever been working on car multimedia? I've got Citroen/Peugeot navigation NG4, and the screen is flickering. The thing is that it flickers when it starts, and then no image. When I press night mode button twice, image shows but for a few seconds only. Any clue or idea?
He was just doing his best 😢
No user serviceable parts inside.
He prepared those 2 middle pins well enough lol
No the user was making more damages. It's stupid to attempt a repair without the proper knowledge and tools. 😅
lol he should of educated himself a bit before going in and doing it. He’s lucky he didn’t cause too much damage
I feel it’s okay bcz that’s how I learnt after spoiling many expensive gadgets who knows how old the client is anyway, there’s a chance that even Alex before he became as magnificent as he is today spoilt some. Just saying
A job well done as always, love from Pakistan.
At 14:56 some solder fills in the grounded circle pad, would that cause issues if it touches any metal on the case? Or is it way to small to do anything?
How much ground? All of it!!!
far too small to touch anything. this is magnified by a ton remember
I wish Ali Hussain was my boss for being no-nonsense.
ماشالله , الله يقويك.
0:25 Woah! 🫨That's a crime scene, boss. Call 911!
Magician 🧙♂️. Amazing job
6:50 You forgot to warn me about the UV light. 😂🤣😂 Anyway Happy Whatever Days.
How much you charge to fix backlight in 65 inch insignia fire tv? I was ps5 gaming on it and it went black..Everything else still works..
We don't work on Tv's, but even If we do, the repair is neither practical nor economical considering it's a $350 unit. Shipping both ways is also expensive for that size box.
احسنت لقد اسفت منك جيدا ليس بمجال التصليح فقط بل في مجال الحياه انت الافضل
Not me I expect quick and fast to get job done. But not pay arm and a leg. Some places say job according to book is 4 hours. Some jobs take under 30 min not 4 hours
It's so good to see a pro at his craft. Doing things the proper way and officially to standards.
Old school windows 7 😅 great job brother
I liked analogy of locksmith service costing more the faster it can be done. That’s very fitting for any technical repair work.
"This was easy, can you do something hard?"
Making it look easy is the name of the game man...
I tried changing a V520B in a SNES controller and the traces were lifting left and right, bending the jump wire would tear the traces, soldering the jumping wire would unsolder the other end...
It was hell, i failed...
In theory. Grind the mask, jump wire. In practice, it's something else...
In our country it's ok they can wait as long as you charge less
As a locksmith, this is somewhat true lol
But people like to waste our time, getting quotes from others and "call back"
6:33 Secret in America perhaps
can u tel me the type of the multimetre
Love watching your videos brother. Would be cool to hang out with you i think.
Disc was inserted backwards but i get it was just a drive functional test
i love your work may Allah protect you / your dad / the kids and the big boss
i love your videos
13:19 - OL = open line. :)
May I propose a correction in the title? "Happened" instead of "Happed".
Awesome video, keep it up!
Fixed. Thanks
U are great brother. R u an electronic engineer? Or just got vocational training.Just curious.
Você é muito bom cara, parabéns, com as ferramentas certas conseguimos fazer qualquer reparo com sucesso!
Alex fixing devices and giving life lessons. Time is your most precious good on this earth. you can buy anything. but not time. so dont waste it. i mean sure Alex can fix fix a difficult device. but when he charges the time in a hourly rate. its just better to buy new one or go to a hobbyist.
عنجد عجيب كيف هالفيش انملع؟ سلاماتي لكم وللبيغ بوس!
Good job bro amazing
Seems like the customer watched a video long enough to purchase a grinder and missed all the implementation.
That business is a well oiled machine for sure.
Solder mask? I’ve been trying to get the name since
as a customer I would expect a higher pricetag on a more difficult repair job
Got to get into electronics some how 😅
I had a great time watching this video , may Allah bless you.
I was less excited until I saw the issue was complicated further from.....(spoiler)...such intricacies fuel our passion of discovery every day. Regards to pops and uncle. They are hardworking and smart if you want to emphasize the better work model. Young men should be inspired by their diligence.
guy who tride this repair needs sell up that bloody mess
Perfect example of...... “A little knowledge is DANGEROUS”
TH-cam makes people think that what you do is EASY..... but it’s truly an art form and takes tonnes of skill and thousands of hours of practice
👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍
A little knowledge without much experience is dangerous
Monalisa 😮nice
I assume that's a UV resin. Similar to what you get for 3d printing.
Solder mask. Similar but less stinky
Time is more expensive than money correct - less time spend more - I get it
Mans took an angle grinder to that board lol
HELLO !!!
people sure do drop a lot of electronics.
Give a cookie to this Leonardo da Vinci. 🤣
The chemistry of UV mask and heat is simple, heat makes chemical reactions happen faster. However, you do not always want chemical reactions to happen faster, some chemicals can get explosive when they are hot :D
