Shout out to you, Oak, for always just being so kind and thoughtful to say what u said at the end of your reaction. Holidays can be a really hard time for some folks where they can find themselves sinking even further into loneliness, depression, etc. And you know sometimes even just the offering of even what may appear as simple as a conversation, a meal, a place to go and simply be amongst other ppl could help hold back their despair.❤💞❤️ Edit: forgot to mention that this was the dog , max, first ever movie ,& he wasn't even a movie trained dog . He was rescued from a pound bout 3 months prior to shooting so he was getting all training while they filmed. It made for alot of outtakes 😂

It feels like a not real story since the dog acted so well it felt like a real actor classically trained instead of a random one from a shelter. But in either case the dog is hugely talented and I hope it lives a lap of luxury.
@@BlueRoseWolfie I'm not sure about this story either cause it's my first time hearing it, but some dogs are just easy to train, so I wouldn't rule it out entirely.
Making this movie was absolutely horrible for Jim Carrey because of the prosthetics and makeup procedures he would have to endure for hours a day. The suit itself was so constricting and claustrophobic that he would have panic attacks. There are interviews where he explains that he had someone from the CIA come in to train him on how to endure torture in order to be able to get through the shoot.

I can’t BELIEVE you guys hadn’t seen this version! I watch it every year and now my son does too. And we laugh each time. One of my favorite parts of this movie is when Cindy’s dad stood up for her in front of everyone. Moments like that are core memories for children.
I recently learned after watching The Pink Popcast's reaction to this movie that there is a party scene in the flashback for the Grinch's upbringing where it implies that the adults are at a swinger's party (a "key" party, specifically, where all the men leave their keys in a bowl and the ladies grab a random key to determine who they uhh... go home with). I had no clue that was a thing and never would have noticed but it makes this movie even funnier to me. 😂
I’m always so shocked when reactors haven’t seen some of what I consider ”classics”. But, it makes great content & almost feels like I’m experiencing it for the first time when watching along! Grateful for reactors 💕
One of my favorite personal theories about the phone book... Grinch goes through it alphabetically and says "LOATHE ENITIRELY" to a specific name. And his nemesis just happens to be named "Augustus May Who."
Jim Carrey completely transformed in a way I’ve never seen in a role before. He just became Grinch. While the prosthetics and the body suit and the yack hair ( or what ever they covered him with idk) certainly helped, I loved that he was still able to have complete control over his face and from what I’ve seen he can move pretty fluidly. He is a master at physical comedy and his face is so expressive that it HAD to be done this way or no way. A live action Grinch just would not have worked without Jim being able to do his thing, he sold it perfectly and his grouchy attitude is ironically what gives me joy every Christmas. I actually haven’t watched the original content all the way through I’ve seen clips on TH-cam of the cartoon and I read the book associated as a kid but when I think of the Grinch this is what I immediately picture. Hope you guys had a great holiday. 😄

When you are young, the thought of being without those people never crosses your mind. I would give anything to have one last Christmas with my Grandfather.
I absolutely adore this movie. Cindy Lou's actress is actually a punk rock singer now, you should check out her band! Fun fact, I've cosplayed this version of Cindy Lou for a handful of years now and it's one of my favorite wigs I've made!
Fun fact: when Martha May was putting up the Christmas lights near the start (8:53), they didn’t have the technology to do that light “canon,” so they used the devise to take the lights down and played it in reverse for the movie to have the illusion of the lights being shot up from the “canon.”
I think baby Grinch is absolutely adorable, too, Oak! 😂 Also, Taylor Momsen (Cindy Lou) is now the lead singer of a rock band, The Pretty Reckless. Way different vibe than her "Where are you Christmas?" rendition 😂😂
As always, Oak, thanks for putting positive messages out there. Having moved a lot, I've spent several Christmases alone both in and out of the military, and it's thoughtful of you to remind people to think of those who are alone during the holidays.
This is the greatest live-action Grinch imaginable. Like most true Christmas classics, this version of The Grinch totally grows on you. It seems to get better every year.
Sad fun fact: The Whoville set was entirely built out of Styrofoam and available to viewed at Universal Studios Hollywood in the Backlot Tram Tour. But due to weather and years of wear and tear, it was demolished during 2020's pandemic.
I really appreciate what Oak says about remaking the story. I've been rejecting the idea watching the new animated Grinch that came out a few years ago with Benedict Cumberbatch voice acting. But what you said about positive stories being repackaged into something fun and new made me rethink.
I have seen the newest version, it seems, a million times. With a seven year old, watching it over and over for weeks in a row, it had to be good. I think the Jim Carrey version was geared more towards adults The Benedict Cumberbatch version is more for kids. But, it's really good. Give it a try...you might like it. 😊
So many things people love are remakes, reboots or adaptations of other works to begin with. There are so many classic films that fall into those categories, a lot of people just don't realize it.
@@troikas3353 That's so true. I love watching all the Jane Austen and Shakespeare adaptations. I wonder if it was because Jim Carrey's Grinch gets a lot of criticism, I've been stubborn out of some misguided sense of "loyalty".🥴

I watched this on 5/22/2024, but when Oak said what he said about being by yourself over the holidays (having stage 4 bone cancer plus other health problems) made me spend the 2023 holiday season by myself and had I heard his words even then (they meant SO much to me hearing them now) was all I wanted. I didn't care about presents, food, etc. I just wanted to spend the day with any one that would have had me. THANK YOU Mr. Oak! xo
It's so nice to see people liking this movie, it gets such a bad rep from so many "critics" but it's one of my Christmas staples 😍 So happy to see you guys react to this!
This movie was the 1st time Taylor Momsen sung & now she's an international rock star. Not exactly Cindy Lou-Who vibes, but the pretty reckless are a decent band! This is in my top5 Xmas movies. We watched it in Dec in a beer hall, on beanbags, with a few adult beverages & a few hundred people. it was great.
I grew up with the Chuck Jones version and saw this one in theater; I love both. I quote a lot of lines (the phone book scene, his list of things to do, messing with the mail...just to name a few) I'm excited to see what you guys think 😊
It's not only my #1 go-to Christmas movie but it's also in my top 10 favorite movies ever. When I think of what the spirit of Christmas is, this movie's the first to pop in my head
I heard they hired a CIA agent specializing in training people on how to handle torture for Jim Carrey. As much as I feel bad for what he had to deal with, I am so grateful for this movie, its one of my top favorites. Cindy Lou Who actress actually went on to create a punk rock band that is very popular. She has done really well for herself! Every year I would add this movie to my list to watch. BTW I love Oak calling the Grinch baby cute, he is! I lost a dear friend and one of my pets this xmas month, so it was tough season this year for me. Your reactions were something to look forward to. For our boys coughing, wishing you a speedy recovery!
Today just got a lot better with this reaction! Gonna make an event out of it; hot cocoa, cozy blanket, put it on an HD TV 🙌 Aaaa, thanks for giving us a good one 😄
20:22 he was actually supposed to take the tablecloth, and it was supposed to mess up everything on the table, but Jim Carrey actually did that on accident and in Jim Carrey fashion had to come back over there and mess everything up which makes that scene even more funny
Even back then I got the joke about the baby looking like the mom's boss, but I never knew about the keys in the jar thing at the party. I thought it was just because they were getting hammered and it was so they wouldn't drive. 😂
OMG the fact you 3 haven't seen this (until now) is crazy. This is an INSANELY funny movie, and Jim Carrey knocked it out of the park. Absolute insanity.
love when oak just casually redrew the deathly hallows logo on his whiteboard to be a christmas tree, very cute idea = ) love seeing you guys react and i hope you had a wonderful holidays !!
The actress who played Cindy Lou Who is Taylor Momsen, who is the lead singer in the rock band The Pretty Reckless. She kills everything she does, it’s really impressive.
Such a good movie! I love it so much! The changes they made/things they added made sense and worked super well! Jim Carrey killed it as the Grinch. I don't think anybody else could pull off the Grinch in this movie. PERIOD. No one else could that character to life and make it compelling. I love this movie! HATE THE NEWER CG ONE! WOULDN'T RECOMMEND!
I remember seeing this in theaters at 9 years old and it scared the crap out of me seeing Jim Carrey as the Grinch lol as time went on it didn’t scare me anymore and it has become one of my go to Christmas movies every year to watch and I can imitate this version of the Grinch very well and my family always requests I reenact parts of the movie around the holiday. My go to Christmas movies each year are always, It’s A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol with George C Scott, this iteration of the Grinch and Home Alone 1 and 2
The song at the end was in the cartoon version. I read that the girl who played Cindy Lou was too young to wear the nose prosthetic that’s why she didn’t have one and they added the line about her not growing into her nose yet.
The scene with The Grinch trying to do the table trick was indeed improv. Also fun fact about myself when I was young I would crunch my face up and I apparently looked like Chucky.
Jim Carrey was PHENOMENAL for us all to enjoy! He literally had to go through Military torture training because of how agonizing it was to be in The Grinch costume! He was taught torture-resistant techniques by a CIA agent for this role! Also, this and Krampus (The Toni Collette version) are my FAVORITE holiday/ Christmas movies of all time lol
Fun Fact - Taylor Momsen (Cindy Lou Who) is a lead singer for a rock band now. The Pretty Reckless... and they're right up your alley, I think. I really like their music myself
In one Norton Graham Shows, Jim talks about how horrendous being in the suit, makeup, and prosthetics were. He basically said that it felt like being buried alive. Jim almost quit because he was extremely uncomfortable in the grinch suit. So one of the producers that Jim mentioned hired a guy that trained CIA agents how to get endure torture, and that’s how he got through filming the grinch
Universal Studios had the whole set created on a lot, so everything was practical. The initial grin the Grinch did at the beginning was all Jim Carrey and no effects. Plus, the Grinch reading off his schedule was ab libbed lol.
8:30 oddly this scene has one of my dads fav line “can I borrow your finger for a second” idk but it cracks him up also “it’s because I’m green isn’t it” 😂
Yeah the cloth on the table was suppose to make all the stuff fall on the floor but he pulled it off really quickly making it stick on top so he went back and pushed it all off 😂
The smile the grinch does in the beginning use to scare me so bad I couldn’t even look at it lol it’s my favorite Christmas movie but I’d always look away from the part 😂
Fun Fact: the Grinch smile Jim Carey did at the beginning wasn't CGI he can actually smile like that! there is a video of him on a talk show showing off the smile.
I did my hair like Cindy Lou Who for wacky hair day in elementary school. My mom helped me - she used a bowl to get the bump on top. They took my picture for the yearbook! The only problem...we forgot my class had a field trip to the theater to watch a play. People in the row behind me complained, and I got so embarrassed I took my hair down.

Oak! xo
Yes!! Always ready willing and able to watch anything Christmas with y'all!! Let's go!! See what I did there?! 😂❤️
It's so nice to see people liking this movie, it gets such a bad rep from so many "critics" but it's one of my Christmas staples 😍
So happy to see you guys react to this!
My favorite part of this movie is that the actress who plays Cindy Lou Who, is the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless
This is such a perfect Christmas movie. It's got the drama, the comedy, the fun, the aesthetics, the nostalgia, everything.
This and elf are the two movies I watch on Christmas Eve every year since I was a kid
I cant belive you have not watched this, my most important christmas tradition🎅 amazing to watch your first impressions
Love how Oak didn’t know what a key party was lol he’s so innocent
I grew up with the Chuck Jones version and saw this one in theater; I love both. I quote a lot of lines (the phone book scene, his list of things to do, messing with the mail...just to name a few) I'm excited to see what you guys think 😊
Martha May is so thirsty for the Grinch its hilarious 😂
The "owie!" line is from Liar Liar, when he's kicking his own ass in the bathroom 🤣🤣🤣
Do you miiiind!😂
Today just got a lot better with this reaction! Gonna make an event out of it; hot cocoa, cozy blanket, put it on an HD TV 🙌 Aaaa, thanks for giving us a good one 😄
20:22 he was actually supposed to take the tablecloth, and it was supposed to mess up everything on the table, but Jim Carrey actually did that on accident and in Jim Carrey fashion had to come back over there and mess everything up which makes that scene even more funny
Jim Carey is my childhood, this movie has become a family classic! 💚❤️
I remember him in Once Bitten, too. Growing up in the 80's was great.
Even back then I got the joke about the baby looking like the mom's boss, but I never knew about the keys in the jar thing at the party. I thought it was just because they were getting hammered and it was so they wouldn't drive. 😂
"She'll be scarred for life if we're lucky." 😂
Thank you guys for this video!
The little girl who played Cindy Lou who, acted for a while and now has a really good rock band called “the pretty reckless”
Oh wow , that's her ? I just saw them when they opened for AC/DC 😮
This will always be the best one. There's nothing better than snuggling, hot cocoa, and fluffy snow outside, while watching this movie.
The actress who played Cindy Lou Who is Taylor Momsen, who is the lead singer in the rock band The Pretty Reckless. She kills everything she does, it’s really impressive.
And she’s in gossip girl 😌
Such a good movie! I love it so much! The changes they made/things they added made sense and worked super well! Jim Carrey killed it as the Grinch. I don't think anybody else could pull off the Grinch in this movie. PERIOD. No one else could that character to life and make it compelling. I love this movie!
HATE THE NEWER CG ONE! WOULDN'T RECOMMEND!
Highly recommend The Grinch (2018). Saw it in theaters and it’s been part of my family’s Christmas movie rotation ever since. Great voice cast.
I can't imagine anyone else other then Jim Carrey to play the grinch. My personal favorite kid friendly xmas movie haha.
Fun Fact, the actress who played Cindy Loo is a singer/musician in a metal band called The Pretty Reckless
My go to Christmas movies each year are always, It’s A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol with George C Scott, this iteration of the Grinch and Home Alone 1 and 2
This is the definitive Grinch movie. Nothing else compares.
When he pulled the table cloth he actually and accidentally did the table cloth truck then came back and knocked everything down
"How DARE you enter... the Grinch's lair! The impudence!!
The audacity!!! The unmitigated gall!!!!"
Thanks for the unexpected birthday gift guys!
That actress who played Cindy-Lou Who is the lead singer of Pretty Wreckless and she's a bombshell!! ♥️♥️♥️
This is the best Christmas movie. The message about how Christmas isn't about the materialism but about family and who you spend it with
Some of my favorite react moments are when Oak finally gets to see a meme scene xD appreciate the upload boys!
Universal Studios had the whole set created on a lot, so everything was practical. The initial grin the Grinch did at the beginning was all Jim Carrey and no effects. Plus, the Grinch reading off his schedule was ab libbed lol.
8:30 oddly this scene has one of my dads fav line “can I borrow your finger for a second” idk but it cracks him up also “it’s because I’m green isn’t it” 😂
One of my favorite Christmas movies!! Jim Carey played the Grinch so well
10:01 This is one song that makes me cry sometimes. Can't explain it.
how have you guys not seen this one yet!? its one of the better Christmas comedies (one of few tolerable ones lol)
thanks for your message at the end Oak to those who don’t celebrate or celebrate alone ❤ happy new year you all 🎉
Yeah the cloth on the table was suppose to make all the stuff fall on the floor but he pulled it off really quickly making it stick on top so he went back and pushed it all off 😂
The smile the grinch does in the beginning use to scare me so bad I couldn’t even look at it lol it’s my favorite Christmas movie but I’d always look away from the part 😂
His rant to the Who’s about their gifts being tossed… always checking the trash.. where did Max come from?
Fun Fact: the Grinch smile Jim Carey did at the beginning wasn't CGI he can actually smile like that!
there is a video of him on a talk show showing off the smile.
I did my hair like Cindy Lou Who for wacky hair day in elementary school. My mom helped me - she used a bowl to get the bump on top. They took my picture for the yearbook!
The only problem...we forgot my class had a field trip to the theater to watch a play. People in the row behind me complained, and I got so embarrassed I took my hair down.
Your school could've planned that a lot better.
Wacky hair day during a field trip isn't the best idea. :'D
My aunt worked on the Grinch set! I loved going and looking at all the set stuff and props, It was one of my favorite memories!
The actress that plays Cindy is Taylor Momsen and she was a show called Gossip Girl. Shes has a band called the Pretty Reckless
And now Cindy Lou Who is lead singer of The Pretty Reckless.
grew up watching it and love it
