Same thing happened to me, which is why I am looking for something else with a manual backup... but I have so many codes I need to be able to have a folder structure.
I've been encountering a serious trouble with MS Authenticator for three weeks, I can no longer sign in my MS Professional account and I can't even get access to OneDrive Business where I'm storing my personal files. Can anybody help me?
@@2FAS It has nothing to do with 2FA codes loss, I just type my business email address and the password, when I hit 'connect' a new page pops up showing me two different options : 1- Approve a request on my MS Authenticator app. 2- Use a verification code I click on the first option but it says 'request denied'. then I go back to choose the second option 'use a verification code', but it doesn't send me the code to my phone whatsoever. If you have a contact email, I will send you some screenshots of my issue so you can figure that out more precisely.
@@taoufikelmiri It looks like a problem that is specifically related to the Microsoft account. The best way to solve it will be to contact Microsoft, as we cannot help in this situation. Sorry to hear that it happened to you :(
@@2FAS I've contacted Microsoft so many times, but they couldn't help me. I even told them to give my Business email address and my password so they can somehow disable 2FA of MS Authenticator but they refused due to privacy policies, they don't have account access tools.
@@taoufikelmiri Have you ever set up 2FA on your Microsoft account? If not, and Microsoft requires you to provide a 2FA code, it looks like your account has been taken over. Try to contact Microsoft saying your account was taken over by an unknown person who set up 2FA on your account. Only do this if you did not set up 2FA on your account.
I'm very confused by your use of the word tokens...? It sounds as if it's a replacement for the word "account"? Or maybe i totally misunderstood. And could you tell me why specifically is it not so private or safe using that app? Maybe i just didn't catch it. I don't mean any of that in a sarcastic or adversarial way, I truly don't understand...?
As explained within the video, the whole problem around security resides with the need to have a Microsoft account to be able to use everything. And this account can be hacked easily (especially if the hackers go through your browser). As for the tokens and accounts, they aren't the same thing, but they are connected. You use the tokens to log into the account, and they show up when you connect the account to the app, so it's not a replacement, just two closely connected entities. Hope that explained a bit, but if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask! 😊✌️
Thank you, that's much appreciated! Who offers the tokens though? That part still has me a bit stumped. I really do appreciate your response though, because I know how time consuming and overwhelming answering a lot of questions can be when one has a channel. But definitely not on my channel lol No one even knows I have one. Its basically just a free way to back up my video files lol
The tokens are generated by the app every 30 seconds. They are completely random and governed by the secret key. Thanks to those tokens the hacker has 30 seconds to figure out 6-digit password, which is nearly impossible.
@@sl4983 We have about 500+ employees, with a huge file management system, including a LOT of CAD files. Then we literally switched overnight to the cloud-based Sharepoint system, and it has not been seamless. I would not even attempt to list all the problems we have had since the transition. In fact, I personally don’t even know the extent. Our IT techs only tell me that they are constantly hearing problems and complaints. Previously simple and quick tasks now take many more steps to do. As it grows, it seems the problems evolve. We are now being told to eliminate all “unnecessary” files, which would be a GARGANTUAN task. I wish so much we’d go back to dedicated local servers.
Sorry to hear it. How many accounts were "lost"? Because it's still possible to take back control of them. You have to contact the support teams of these services. They should provide you with a restoration option.

I'm using 2fa authenticator since 2020, honestly, it's a great 2-factor app with a good interface and also it has a very easy backup option which is helping me a lot. Today I prefer one of my IT incharge sir to use this app, 1st he told me for google 2fa but lastly, he used it. Hey, could you help me? I lost access to my 2fas on the phone because I reset it from the factory and I wanted to regain access to my facebook account. Could you talk to me on another site if you help me?
If you haven't enabled backup before reset, then the only thing you can do is write directly to the support of Facebook and ask them to turn 2FA off on your account. And for the future, please turn the backup on. It makes everything easier!
I agree the moment I added my account to Microsoft authenticator app the all got hacked not a week later not a month not a day not a million years it was like half an hour later I tried to log into my account and all of them was hacked I'm never downloading Microsoft authenticator app again and I hate the interface absolutely hate it it stinks Google Authenticator is worse but at least my accounts did not get hacked
Microsoft Authenticator was good until backup option stopped worked without any previous notice, really a disappointing step from a tech giant company
Hope that you'll have a better experience with our app!

How to secure 2fas using a biometric lock other than a PIN?
Just go to settings, app security, and an option to enable Biometric authentication will be there.
And when you want to move from Android to iOS or back, you will be really surprised with the so-called "backup" feature of Microsoft Authenticator.
We tried to design our backup and export as user-friendly as possible to avoid any "unpleasant" situations for our users.
