    Was at a Walmart a senior was trying to paid with a 50 dollar bill. Walmart manager refused to accept it because it was worn. I walked over asked to see the bill. I then after taking a good look pull a 10 and two 20’s out and gave them to the man. The manager (a young pup). Said the bill was too old. I looked at him and replied “you need a reality check”. Walked out. Went to my bank and exchange it for a new 50 dollar bill

    I have a basic three step approach to determining if we have been hit with an EMP. 1. The lights go out unexpectedly: 2. Check your phone, If it's not working; 3. Check if your vehicles start. If they do not, there's a very good chance there was an EMP given all of these electrical/electronic devices have suddenly and simultaneously stopped working.

      EMP will not affect your vehicle. It takes a long antenna to accept an EMP. The electrical grid is for sure at risk, but small appliances, vehicles, and the like will not burn out from an EMP.

    • @tpokmedia7828
      @tpokmedia7828 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most vehicles are safe from an EMP, most not all but most. If the electronic device you are relying upon has an LCD or a UI to be able to access modes and functionality you better make sure it is un a faraday cage. Small appliances like a CPAP machine are relatively safe because they do not have a UI to them or are still using analog switches. Things like a solar generator that have the digital display and are reliant upon a small processor to track voltage regulation and such are definitely not. Faraday cage easy to make, test and find info or instructions@@insideoutsideupsidedown2218

    With regards to getting home and/or evacuating - I have ordanance survey maps and a compass in my car. If the sat nav fails, I have a backup navigation method. I have also gone for drives to areas I have never been to, and then worked back home using the maps to practice. This is worth doing; as before I got the maps - I have gotten into situations where the roads I know have been unexpectedly closed and I have found myself diverted down back roads in the countryside with no GPS or phone signal at dusk with not much petrol in the tank. Horrible feeling being lost - do yourself a favour and don't let it happen to you.

    For chest freezers, placing 2 or 3 folded blankets on top of the freezer, covering the entire surface within a couple hours of the power going out can increase the time before things start to melt. We managed to keep the contents of our very full freezer frozen for 4.5 days without power during a September snowstorm in 2014. While it may not help with a major EMP, it can certainly help with shorter emergencies.

I wrote it down, not for myself, but for my future housemates (children, grandchildren). When I take them in, they have to be thorougly instructed and trained. I had a certified plumber come out to our house yesterday to install a back flow valve in our sewage clean out pipe so that no sewage would enter our house if the situation got that bad. Since we live on a hill, he was honest and said that although he'd love to charge me $1,800.00 to install it, we really didn't need one. He said the houses at the bottom of the hill need one. He looked at our street and said the sewage will force the lid off the manhole cover and will flow downhill towards the houses down there. There really wasn't any way it would ever flow back into our house. I also asked him about the inflatable ball that can be inserted in the sewage clean out pipe and he said by the time you realize you need it, it will be too late and sewage will already be in your house. I absolutely loved this video and got so much useful information from it. THANK YOU!!!

    • @diypreppertv
      @diypreppertv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      It’s possible, but would probably depend on several factors. A worst case scenario would be a house right under the EMP with bad wiring inside the house and poorly maintained utility equipment outside. If it’s dry outside, that wouldn’t help either of sparks start dropping from lines or transformers onto dead grass.

    It seems to me that the best thing to do post EMP is to organize local neighborhoods and help each other survive. Living in a post electronic world will seem tough, but doable if we stay calm and work together, pooling our resources and abilities. Neighborhood associations will have a whole new meaning.

    If your children are at school, their first plan , in an emergency is to put the children on school busses and take them to a central location for parents to pick them up. With no bus transport available, I suspect that they will hold the children at the school until someone picks them up. A friend of mine has told his daughter to "escape" and make her way to a pre chosen safe waypoint.

    We are currently still without power and Upstate, South Carolina. They don’t expect power back in my area until Friday at the minimum. With that being said there isn’t too many rich people in my area out of about 50 houses only to have generators and you could hear them running at night and they are the only houses that have lights on. Now I’m not gonna rob nobody and I’m not on drugs and I have all that I need for me and my children. But a lot of the people in my area will steal your gas can just because and I’ve caught many of them doing that just to me even when the lights were on during normal occasions. theft has skyrocketed in the past few days and I’m surprised them rich. Haven’t lost their generators yet.

    It should be said (I missed it if it was) no one really knows what an EMP will do to everything, of course the grid or parts of it will likely go down, but there is no telling what it will do to modern cell phones, cars, generators and other medium to small electronics like fridges. For all we know they will be completely unharmed, or everything with the simplest circuit board could be fried, we just don't know for sure. But these are some good steps regardless.

Put the lid on the pot, pot inside the cardboard box with the pillows below, around and on top of the pot. Place close fitting cardboard lid on the box. End result is a complete cooked meal.

    For long-term food security, pressure canning. You can preserve non-acid foods like meat and vegetables for a year or two. You can preserve fully finished meals like chili, curries, and soups. For bugging out, you can save money by storing meal replacement powders/bars instead of investing in MREs or other emergency rations which can be costly. We use a vegan protein powder as it has more nutrients than regular protein powders, and more protein than regular meal replacement powders.
