I just never understand what any designer is thinking when using gloss black. It is going to have micro scratches all over within minutes and will always show every fingerprint and fleck of dust.
I recently got my EV6. For me, I do prefer the rear design of the 2025, I think the front will slowly grow on people. But what I do really like is the lack of piano black. I am very careful with my things, especially when I get something new, but man that piano black can scratch and smudge so easily.
Any car interior designer that puts piano black anywhere should be fired the same day. Unbelievable that it still exists when absolutely no one likes it.
Wonderful presentation, thanks for the comparativa images, and also thanks for the laughs about how easy it is to get in the luggage space (¿?) and at minute 04:00 when the presenter claims to be inside the driver's seat 🙂
You missed the most important difference (at least for me); The new version comes with wireless carplay/android auto which was inexplicably absent in the previous generation.
Looks a lot better! All the finish improvements inside make a big difference. Looks much more upscale inside and the front doesn't look unbalanced anymore. Good minor update.
Front never looked good because of its bulbous hood design and it’s even worst now. The whole car is looks like it’s been oversized by a 1.1 - 1.2x factor. I was never a fan of it even when I was considering getting one back in 2021.
Great video on the updates! My first time watching Motorgraph World with Mari and gotta say its been very informative, no nonsense. Subscribed :) Cheers from Hungary
First vid i see from this channel.. and first time seeing the EV6 facelift.. 😂 i kinda like it.. looks pretty nice.. and i also like how perfectly she speaks english 😂 … greetings from germany 👍🏻😎
Hello Mari, sorry missed this 4 months ago I never got the alert , great video I do like the front end and the interior is very nice , I still think they can improve on the arm rest and storage bin, I was never a big fan on the rear end they look great from the front . I will still take my GV 60 over the EV6 , I remember you were not a GV60 fan but 2+yrs and 53K km later I am still sold on it. Thank you take care always.
I have the current EV6 in GT line S trim and all though there are some small improvements like doing away with the gloss blacks on the centre console there’s a lot I don’t like. The wheels for one I much prefer mine. The front not sure but not the rear of the car and the steering wheel. Also I don’t like the gloss wheel arch’s they scratch very easily. I will reserve judgment until I see a uk spec car. But on first impressions I’m not chomping at the bit to trade my current car in for it. I new it would be a hard act to follow having got the car so right from the off.
This is nothing lol,. Look up new Ssang Yong Tivoli. Although the position of the logo on the steering wheel is not something that should be considered a dealbreaker for a sane person.
I think you delivered a thorough and professional run-down on the facelifted EV6, Mari. I liked your opinions - you didn't hold back. I believe that English is not your first language, but your views were clear and easy to understand, and I got te information I needed from your clip. I want to like the EV6, but here in Australia, it is not doing so well. I think that part of that is the range (which you touched-on): driving a relatively common distance like Melbourne to Canberra (over 600km), or even a Sunday outing, charging will be necessary. also the sharply-dipping window of the tailgate means no decent-sized dog will fit in the boot. My wife also says you are quite tall (she's 150cm).😉😊
Could also be the 3-12 month waiting period (depending on when you ordered and who you believe) and the initial pricing being too high. I know Kia Australia has been working on both, but a lot of people seem to have just bought a Model Y instead in the meantime....
Nice review and the car looks visually improved! I am really glad to see they increased the battery size appropriately. It's now about where it needs to be, maybe still a few kWh too few but definitely better! The biggest miss is keeping the chargeport on the passenger side. It should have been moved to the drivers side to accommodate Tesla Superchargers and make it easier for charging at home so drivers dont have to walk around to the other side of the car to plug in.
Never found the chargeport on the passenger side a problem. Our fast superchargers in the Netherlands are suitable for both sides. And at home, the cable is long enough ... :)
A bit sad that they still haven't addresed the rattling from the center console lid - it bothers me in the current EV6 and should have been addressed in the facelift if you ask me.
looks pretty good, i just wish that front lights wouldnt touch front fenders...i love no gloss black inside where you touch... i prefer previous gt line wheels. its a mixed bag.
Hey Mari, when are you going to take this new facelift for a drive? I’ve been waiting for a range test on this one, any idea when that that video is coming?
Thanks Mari, great review! I have to disagree about the "Kia listens" part, though. The main reasons I skipped the previous EV6 were the missing rear windscreen wiper, missing headlamp washers and the ridiculously small ski hatch (aka rear backrest pass-through). Looks like nothing happened with the first two and I don't have high hopes for the third one, so no, Kia clearly didn't listen to me.
The exterior looks really good! I always felt the front looked a bit over baked on the original, but the redesigned front looks good. Still not sold on the interior.
It still doesn't have one, but it really doesn't need it. It clears well at speed and doesn't get dirty quickly like the Ionic 5. The back screen is sloped and protected by the lip of the light bar.
I like the new face and that they got rid of the piano black trim. The range increase is also great to have, along with more comfortable seats, that makes for some nice upgrades.
- Not a big fan of the new steering wheel - the offset logo, why? - The new front fascia is definitely an improvement vs. the previous design - Would have been great to have a rear wiper...the Ioniq5 will have it - Did that frunk get smaller?? Why can't Kia/Hyundai come up with a design that allows for a more substantial frunk? Overall, its a nide facelift, and puts the EV6 at the top of the list of the most attractive EV designs.
Well, I just bought a used current model EV6 Wind, and I'm relieved the 25's not that much better. Considering mine is as-new with several $k in upgrades, that I got for $25k with an additional $4k due in tax rebates later, I'm pretty happy.
Gorgous! The front looks so much better. Also love the steering wheel and interior material changes. Seems Kia is getting away from the Piano black inside their interiors (the Kia Carnival was unreal with so much of it even though it was beautiful l) which is awesome. I absolutely love their new upcoming Kia K4 and would highly consider it as my next car in 2 years as I trade in every 2-3 years.
When the second row is not folded, the IONIQ 5 has a volume of 531 liters, which is only an 11-liter difference, but because the IONIQ 5 has a longer wheelbase, when the second row is folded, the IONIQ 5 has a volume of 1,600 liters, a difference of 300 liters.
Any information for the updated EV6 GT ? I am more interested in the technical update. Since they now have the 84KW battery, I am sure that the GT version will get some performance update too.
The old front end was better, but updated headlights would have been nice. I wish you could couple the original face with the interior and mechanical updates.
I'll be buying all the new matte plastic trim and replacing the piano black in my GT. And retrofitting those tail lights. Maybe possible to even upgrade the battery.
Good to see after 3 years, everything on the tailgate still doesn't line up to the bumper or rear quarter panel. But, we now have ridiculous looking headlights. 👍
I prefer the old model's look. Also, regarding piano black which everyone fixates as a problem. My very old petrol car has a piano black centre console and keeping it clean is really not as bad as people state. Rarely, very rarely do I notice any sort of fingerprints, because let's face it, you're usually resting your arm on there not pressing your thumb print into the plastic. Secondly when wearing long sleeve shirts or jumpers & resting your arm on the console there's a constant cleaning effect happening. So again, from experience this is an overplayed, almost made-up issue & in the real world it's not really a problem. Want to keep it pristine all the time? Simply keep a cloth in the centre console and give it a wipe down from time to time.
Thanks for all the detailed infos. I own an EV6 and see the only improvement in the electric steering wheel motor. OK, the finish of the internal surfaces are better with the brushed design. Piano die is not good. I prefered the front lights of the first model.
Overall, I’m not a big fan of this refresh. Happy to see the larger battery and new software as well as the end of that piano black plastic on the center console. Really dislike the look of the steering wheel. Maybe it’s the off center Kia logo but something just looks off. I certainly may think the previous headlights were better looking.

I think the biggest improvement is removing all the gloss black. That’s a main reason I went with an Ioniq 5
I just never understand what any designer is thinking when using gloss black. It is going to have micro scratches all over within minutes and will always show every fingerprint and fleck of dust.
Yeh it was awful. I wasn’t a fan of the black and white interior either. Reminded me of the 90s 😂
The rear still looks heavy though
There's still too much gloss black plastic on the exterior though, by the look of it...

What I love about the Kias is the fact that when you put a turn signal it lightsup progressively, but when you but a hazard lights they just blink.
But the US models get blinking brake lights 😢
where's the rear wiper for ev6? Ioniq 5 has added for 2025 that's a big plus.
