I bought the cheapest EV6 available here in Finland, 58kwh RWD and although it's missing quite a lot of the bells and whistles I was soo pleased to find out that the interior trim was this matte silverish plastic instead of the piano black that the GT-line has here in Finland. I was a bit apprehensive of having the smaller battery, but in the end it's been more than enough for the occasional weekend trip and all of our daily commutes.
Am I the only one who prefers the looks of the old one, at least from the outside? The inside of the new car is nicer and sounds like an improvement on an already very good car. I may have to keep an eye out for discounts on the old spec.
It was one of those cars that I initially liked the look of, but the longer I looked at it.. the less I liked it. The back and front just looked like they were from different cars...
@@AstkeI think at some point they have to decide what is more important for the money they're asking. I think they went for 800v and cheaper plastic which is totally fine in my book.
@@MichaelPanzer depends on the price you are at. At a 60k+ euro GT line I expect better. At the 45k euro base version I accept it. And it is not like the 800v system costs more to develop. Besides if you check actual tests of these e-gmp cars, kia definitely still need to refine their Battery Management System. I hope they did with this one.
@@Astke To each his own, my favorite part of my EV6, aside from the powertrain (efficiency & charging speed) is the interior. A cheap interior is what you get with a Model 3 or Y. I find nothing cheap about a great console, comfy seats, a nice display, and actual buttons, dials, and stalks.
@@JohnCap523have you sat in the new model 3? It is leaps ahead of an EV6 on terms of material choices. EV6 has tons and tons of the cheapest hardest plastics in places where model 3 is plush. That EV6 console might look good but it feels cheap.
@@Astke That’s ridiculous, totally ridiculous. I would literally not own a Model 3, Y, or X if given to me, for so many reasons they wouldn’t fit here. And yes, I’ve seen the lightly updated 3. At least now it’s priced where it belongs.
It is not on my shopping list Pete, but your videos are such a pleasure to watch and one can only admire the Korean car makers and all the hard work put into swiftly updating their models. Cheers, Tom
They are fantastic cars. I’ve had a GT for 2 years and covered 22,000 faultless miles. The car has been impeccable. I doubt I’ll need to use the 7 year warranty, and the rapid charging makes all the difference on longer journeys. My battery has only degraded 1.5% in that time and of course the performance is incredible. You can add a wireless dongle for wireless CarPlay for about -£70 but the charging pad does certainly get hot. I suspect that’s why my iPhone battery is not great so I might actually move back to wired charging even if the CarPlay is wireless (you can do that) The piano black does get finger marks but I’m careful and mine hasn’t scratched, but I agree there are better alternatives. The full screen HUD and sat nav are very good, I use it in preference to WAZE now. All in all both the original and newer one are amazing!
ped , one of biggest updates with this facelift is an increase of 200kg towing capacity to 1800kg across the range, only the top gt version had 1800kg towing capacity before.. so opens up more options for caravan towing.
Good point, we have a 1520kg caravan and I have 6 months to decide between a used EV6, new EV6 on lease, used 2022 diesel Sorento, used 2016 sorento (go cheap) or a 2022 Tesla Model Y. Budget of £30-35k. We have a 2016 Kia Carens and a 2021 Honda e at the moment. The Honda e's 4 year lease is up in March. I love it but will be expensive to repair if I bought it, so keeping the Carens as a 'dog car/spare tow car' and swapping the Honda for one of the above. What do you think?
Kia and Hyundai have come so far and are now up there with the main manufacturers for looks and quality and in some ways are leading the way with their 800v architecture. I'm waiting to test drive the EV3 in a few weeks and have heard mixed reviews. As always nice to see your review.
Great review Pete! We got a used Kia EV for the missus recently. It's a great little car and the service from Kia is outstanding. When my Tesla goes back at the end of it's lease it'll be one of these instead.
Such a nice car! It's FAR more car than anything I've ever driven...I wouldn't know what to to DO with myself in it. Young'uns have beautiful choices in EVs nowadays.
Thanks Ped for another thorough review which shows that Kia are not letting the grass grow under their feet. I've had my e-Niro from new in 2019 and it is already looking like a classic with its old style logo and pre- 'opposites united' design language. Even so, it has been totally reliable over 107, 000 km with a real world range of over 400 km on a long autoroute drive.
I've got the GT Line AWD and absolutely love it. I've never cleaned a car so much, its stunning. I like the updates on the new model, and I think that when it's time to change, the refresh will persuade me to stay with the EV6.
I have the exact same 2024 Yacht Blue EV6, and I really love the design. I wasn't initially sold on the facelift, but I really like the GT-Line facelift in particular. It has an even more modern look now.
Because of you Pete, I bought and got delivered across the country (US) a 2022 low low miles JCW Clubman a few days ago with all the bells and whistles inside. And thankfully they don't make them anymore where I won't have to get jealous of any new updates when a new one comes out like all these cars. Boy oh boy its a quick one isnt it. Miss Charlie vids keep it up.
I've been dancing on the knife's edge of buying a '22 or '23 EV6 (which are going for sale 70,000 NZD in my local market) for a almost half a year now, but ever since the facelift was unveiled I've been paralysed with the want to instead wait and get that instead for roughly 115,000 NZD. I love basically everything about the facelift. It's pretty crazy that I'm actually considering paying over 50% more for almost the same vehicle. The new CCnC operating system with wireless phone projection and allowing the HUD AR navigation directions to now work when using navigation from your phone are especially big draws. I'm really looking forward to seeing the dedicated reviews on the Meridian sound system, because that ended up being extremely contentious for owners of the original EV6, mostly due to poor subwoofer performance. After some Infotainment updates targeted at improving this and a recall for the sound system amplifier, the owner community is quite divided, but more along the lines of taste. I'm curious if the facelift has made any changes to the sound system, or if it's just equivalent to having a fully updated system from the pre-facelift.
As a kiwi who works for Kia/Hyundai in Australia, definitely go for the facelift! As said in this review, the current '22-23 spec cars feel extremenly dated, mainly with the infotainment systems. No wireless CarPlay, no AR-HUD, the general speed and cleanliness of the new layout is lightyears ahead. And with all new Kia/Hyundai models coming out with this new system, the older systems feel very lack-lustre. To decide what car you want to go for, go to your local Kia dealer and experience the systems back to back with some models there. I'm sure your mind will be made up very quickly!
There are more and more 350kw chargers around, all of Gridserve’s new chargers (like the ones at Rugby Services, Warwick services and the Gatwick electric forecourt) are 350kw chargers.
Thanks. I have had my EV6 for nearly 3 years now and it is the best car I have ever had, so hard to improve on this. The new 6 does not have anything that induces me to change, and soon will have the premium tax , so I will stay with my present one.
I can relate to the "I'm hard-pressed to find something to complain about" sentiment. I own a 2023 GT-Line EV6 (US/North America...when I bought it, there was Light, Wind, and GT-Line...is the "two GT-Line variants" a UK thing, or is that going to be for all 2025 worldwide?) and love it. Of course, having had it for a year, I've had enough time to find things I don't like, but it's a short and, some might say, petty list: -- GT-Line gets touch buttons for seat/steering heat/cooling controls, I'd much rather have real buttons for that. I'm better about not accidentally touching them now, but it still happens now and then. -- Rear turn signals are combined with tail/brake lights, instead of having separate amber lamps. This seems to be a US/NA market-only thing, which makes it especially silly. -- "Neutral" audio balance on the Meridian system is not really neutral. It's very front-weighted, and not enough bass. You have to turn on Surround, adjust the equalizer, and shift the balance toward the rear of the car to get a nicely balanced true "neutral" experience. (However, I've heard that the very latest software update might actually fix this...haven't installed on my car yet, so I can't comment on that). -- Vehicle to Load doesn't do 15A, which in North America is a standard household outlet. Would've been really nice if I could plug in my pressure washer or wood splitter in the car, so I can do that work further away from the house without a separate portable battery-powered generator. With household voltage at only 120V in NA, I have no doubt the electronics in the car could support 15A in that market without any trouble. -- Driver assist could be better on less-than-straight roads. Lane keeping has trouble with bendy roads, and where the lines markings aren't perfect, or in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. Adaptive cruise control loses track of the car ahead going around bends. That said, these features are still great, and I really appreciate them on the many roads where they work well. Automatic wipers and high beams also are great. Does the refresh make me wish I had the newer version? No, not really. Honestly, I really like the headlamp design on my car better than the new design. The taillights seems "cleaner" on the new design, but I kind of like the segmented display design of the earlier model. I also prefer my steering wheel; I prefer toggles to what looks like thumb wheels for the buttons, and having the drive mode right under my left thumb is way more convenient than I believe having it centered in the steering wheel would be. I don't change the mode often anyway, but when I do, it's nice to not have to move my hands to get to the button. The other stuff barely changed, not enough for me to care. I kind of would've preferred the new matte finishes, but the gloss black isn't really that big of a deal for me. I did notice that they seem to have changed the USB ports under the console. Or maybe that's a US/NA vs UK market thing? My car has one USB-A and one USB-C, the former can do data/communications, the latter is strictly for power/charging. In this video, you can see that the two ports are now both USB-C, though still only one can do data/communications.
I’ve driven the new one this week and have to say the car and the subtle styling changes from the previous model are very welcome. It looks fantastic in person, super comfy and the new operating system and hardware has made a huge difference.
Love the latest design - stunning. Kia really have progressed in leaps and bounds. Almost makes me wish I could afford one. Great review Ped but just as I would expect.
Don’t worry I read only 1 in 11 EV’s last year in the UK was bought privately - most new EVs are bought by businesses as tax benefit, fleet, private leases or work place leases. A few older people with windfalls from retirement might buy new. Let someone else buy it new let them take the depreciation and you pick it up a couple of years later for half the price still with 6 years manufacture warranty. I’ve had my GV60 2 years bought from new with a retirement windfall - I wouldn’t recommend anyone sink £40K - £60K into an EV using money they’ve worked 9 - 5 for unless it’s for some kind of business use to make you money (Uber or Hire).
We have the GT which is an amazing car. Would go so far to say the best car I’ve ever owned. The range on the GT is lower than GT Line, etc. but as you say: who drives 300 miles a day?!? It does everything brilliantly - look forward to seeing the full review.
Great early access review, the side by side visual comparison very useful. Love the updates and that paint is gorgeous. Appreciate how you don't lean into the anti-EV/pro-EV nonsense or unnecessarily pitch EV brands against each other to get views and likes etc. Happy Tesla Model Y LR owner, but will look again at the EV6/Ioniq 5 when changing next.
No. I was just looking at the local area and roads on Google Maps to see where I could drive. Spotted the charger and thought I’d would make a good destination. Native Sat nav has good charge network integration 👍
Great first look video Peter. I like veneer Kia are going with their new EV’s in general. Currently own EV6 GT Line S AWD and looking at the state of charge vs miles in the pre-production one and my current one, we will probably only see a very minimal increase in miles but as you very well know several number of factors play into the actual range daily. Looking forward to finding out more in the full reviews and hopefully hands on in the coming months at the dealers. I do really like that colour of the press one, can see why they chose it 😉
Got my 2024 Wind AWD a few months ago…. After watching this I can say I’ll definitely be happy with my version for a good while. Only thing I liked about the refresh is the wireless CarPlay….. but I’m gonna grab an adapter online and be able to enjoy that as well. Thanks for the detailed video !
Sir Pete I still say my favorite looking ev is the jaguar I pace. The ev6 looks nice but there’s just something about the I pace that looks better to me. Good review though and a really cool to be able to have the old and new next to each other! Kia is doing a good job
And those ultra rapid chargers aren’t as rare as they used to be - all Ionity Chargers are 350kW and GridServe are routinely installing 350kw chargers on the UK truck road network. Using Ionity alone one can charger jump every 100-200 miles from the North to the South of England.
It all depends what your requirements are. I personally don't like too fast charging as you have to sit in the car and wait. Rather than leave it and chill.
Love the face lift version Pete. I’ve had my EV6 GT eleven months now and absolutely love it. Any idea if and when there will be a face lifted GT version and any stats? Alan Ps. Love the colour. When I ordered mine it was black or white and over a year’s wait!
Interesting. Opted for a gt line S pre-facelift model just a month ago was concerned I'd be missing out on some major things, but actually glad to see there are still major similarities between the models with little tweaks rather than any major upgrade. I approve of the changes, but yeah, I'm definitely glad to be driving the Ev6 now, rather than in 6 months. Maybe the GT will get a face-lift before my lease is up and I'll go for that 😀
In my Kia Niro, the traffic speed recognition is less than perfect. Overhead gantry signs on the M62 restricting to 60 were recognised half the time as 80 - try using that as an excuse if you’re caught speeding!
Yep. Very often my car picks up signs that are for lorries only or misses speed changes. I'd NEVER rely on it and you'd never get away with the Plod that your blaming the car. Sure show me the speed, but for auto-cruising it's never going to reliably work.
I think having a shortcut to a personnel setup profile isn't a gimmick, but a great idea! Heard lots of reviewers complain about having to turn off everything they changed, every time they start up the vehicle again, due to safety reasons. I think some of us want to drive the vehicle, not be driven. For example, driving down a twisty road with full visibility, I would drive a straighter line cutting across the lines a little. With lane assist, it fights you. So I would hardly ever use it.
Sadly you can’t configure ADAS systems as part of the fingerprint set up. That would be a great idea. Renault have a button you can configure to do that. In the Kia you can set that up on the favourites star I believe 👍
Very popular in NZ. My one hasn’t lost value in 18 months which is unusual for any car( note I did purchase when NZ had $$$ incentives) love it. Only charge at home when I have my daily free 3 hours from my power company so charging is free. Fast low maintenance and I save $11k a year on petrol which alone pays my car off in 5 years so if I gave it away for free then I’m still winning. 8 year battery warranty and drive for up to 6 hours a day on one charge. Perfect. The latest looks interesting
Hey there. I'm curious what trim you have where you're saying that you haven't lost any value? I've been watching the GT-Line listings on TradeMe this year (amongst a bunch of others) and from what I've the two-hit combo of the Clean Car Discount ending and RUCs being applied to EVs has caused those to nosedive in value along with the rest of the EV market. Honestly I never anticipated that the end of the CCD would bomb the values of cars that were too expensive to qualify in the first place, but I guess in hindsight it's obvious that when the entire market gets gutted overnight ALL prices will fall. Sucks for owners, excellent for buyers
@@The_Noblest_Roman the value stays with long range models. Mine is 525km real world 498kms still hard even over all this time to get EVs in NZ doing that range that aren’t over $69k
Are you sure the UK production version won’t have the “eye-detect” camera? My 2024 Hyundai Kona has it and I would have thought this would be standard for the group. Nice early review!
I’m Canadian and I got the exact model you tested. You said it cost 53,675 GBP. I converted my Canadian price into GBP: base price 38,847 GBP less 5,883 GBP provincial and federal incentives = 32,964 GBP PLUS Prov/Fed sales taxes 37,908 GBP. This last price includes all delivery and dealer charges. WOW. Am I missing something on your pricing? I have a 2024 since July, it still seems a big difference. Import duties, etc??
Yeah love the car and like the updates! I test drove a used pre-facelift GT a few weeks ago. A stonklingly fast car 😁. It’s currently at the top of my list as the next wagon when I upgrade in June.
That was a good, clear review. My only gripe was I would have liked to have seen the size of the boot as I drive an Audi A4 Avant and I’m due a change but boot size is a deal breaker for me. However, really like your calm style.
I went from an S4 Avant to an EV6. In practical terms there’s little difference in boot space. I’ve used both for camping trips and I fit everything I used to take in the S4 in the EV6.
Another great video, liked the comparison with the outgoing model. Nice upgrade with usual Kia quality. Range anxiety will stay with most people considering an EV but thing’s are slowly improving but at quite a cost!
A friend of mine described Range anxiety as something people experience before they get an EV. I ummed and ahhed for a while before getting mine and think I agree. Range just hasn't been a concern for me at all.
When you get to my age. Words I have heard you say on more than one occasion that make me worried about my own shortcomings. I am probably at least 20 years older and I start to get worried about driving to the end of my drive in case I have to stop for a break. I enjoy your reviews. They appear to be honest and, to date, coincide with mine. They are capable of being listened to without any wild screeches of excitement. Some reviewers annoy me intensely and when they also delve into other areas I just turn them off. It's not Clarkson and co. by the way. Keep up the good work with honest thoughts and comments, I am currently awaiting delivery of my first EV. Chosen because, 'When you get to my age,' you don't, or very rarely, leave the county you live in and I have the facility of home charging. I also decided to spend some of my money on myself before the family grease the stairs.
I love my EV6 but man did I get a Friday car! The list of issues goes on and on, 3 years of ownership coming to the end now and it is going. Last update to fix the battery going flat has caused more issues. I love it but, I'm replacing it with the Nero until the 4 comes out.
Love the updated look !! But that's Palisade/ Telluride price 😮 which isn't electric, but which has more room. I have the new Santa Fe calligraphy hybrid, which I love for the room and mpg.
I have an EV6 and I absolutely love it, and the facelift model seems to add some nice new features, along with a bit more range, which I will never complain about. But the biggest gripe I have with it, and based on this video Kia don't seem to have done anything about, is just how reflective the windscreen is - especially on the GTLS with Head-Up display. In bright and sunny days it can be dangerous to drive as your vision can be almost completely obscured, especially when you are driving in conditions where the amount of light keeps changing like when driving down roads with lots of trees on the side making the light flicker in and out. I have had lots of other cars with and without head-up displays and this is the worst windscreen ever for interior reflectivity
I have had an EV6 GT-Line S for 30 months. It has a wonderful heads-up display and I've never experienced the dazzle mentioned in this review. It's one of the many great features on this wonderful car. In 60 driving years I've had some great cars, including two from Lotus, but the EV6 is a different kind of driving experience and I'd never go back to an ICE car now I've enjoyed driving an EV6 - it's superb, relaxing, easy to drive and smooth - all with a 7 year warranty!
I have a 73 model. Love the car but I assume the charge port is still in the same place and the childish in car nav doesn’t recognise Tesla chargers? The fingerprint option sounds promising, if it works
Depends if you use rapid charging or not. 99% of my journeys I'm charging at home. On the journeys, I need to travel far, that's when charging speed matters, so I'll pay the premium once in a blue moon to recharge fast. That's where the savings over normal ice cars comes into play. During most journeys, I'm doing a fraction of the cost... occasionally, I'll need to pay slightly more of a fraction of the cost of running my old diesel. So it works out quite equitable. Obvs, if you're doing hundreds of miles every day, then those costs will add up.
My wife's EV6 has covered some 40K completely trouble-free miles, and although I don't drive it that often I'm always hugely impressed with the car. It really is space-age, with all the gadgetry you could possibly want. The new model looks great - my only criticism is the placement of the seat heating/cooling buttons in the same location as the outgoing model & are very easy to inadvertently press. As you say Mr Ped, it really is a difficult car to criticise!
They've fixed that with the facelift. You have to now press harder/longer to trigger. I've seen that on the Korean videos which have all complained about the outgoing model about that.
Now it turns out that Kia UK have decided not to include the digital rear view mirror... You can see it on the video above with the camera on the back spoiler.. So what motivates the £10,000 increase in price over the EV3? 800-volt architecture, slightly larger car, finger print scanner (yay...) and is that it? A lot of money for very little it seems. Feels a little greedy by Kia UK.
Great to see the old and new side by side. Nearly 3 years in my GTL AWD, and it's still one of the best cars in its class, EV or otherwise. I love the combination of style, driving pleasure, practicality and range/charging speed. Most of the facelift changes seem worthwhile, but grafting those angular DRLs onto the curvaceous EV6 design doesn't work - for me, anyway. Looking forward to the in-depth review.
How are there so few 300-350 kW chargers in UK. In NL pretty much all gas stations stops next to highway have 300-350 kW chargers. Often quite a lot of them. Same in France.
The EV6 has always been my favourite electric vehicle, and it now seems to be even better. I look forward to the full report when you can put it through its paces on open roads.
Any details of the Gen 1 GT replacement or is GT Line S as good as it gets this time? EV6 is a curious proposition, was having a chat with a traffic officer from Yorkshire Police whilst they were charging their EV6 GT at an Ionity station outside Leeds and whilst they like the car, they go on one shout which involves high speed pursuit and afterward they're immediately looking for a charger. I suspect they'll look for a 600+bhp facelift car with a bigger battery and more range.
Real world with eGMP EVs there is minimal penalty going from RWD to AWD if driven in proven Normal mode with Auto Regen. My AWD EV6 was rated 260 miles and I reliably get over 320 miles in moderate weather.
Hello Peter. We agree a lot on this one…maybe the best EV of all including the dreaded depreciation. The facelift helps a good car to get better…If or when I go EV and as JLR are into crazy pricing these days…the EV6 is high on my list. Roll on that proper Test video! 😃😃😃Richard
Over 50k Miles in the outgoing EV6. Still love the car. Drove it to Northern Spain and France last month. The fastcharging was rocking, the kids were the weakest link to get on our way again. As for the update, seeing it on film, it looks great. Getting rid of the piano black is a big plus. People also might mention the rear wiper, i havent missed it yet. And the frunk I mainly use for smelly take away food.
@@henrikgustavii9762 Reminds me, by the way, one thing they'd better introduce to the new version. A washer for the rear camera. I do miss that. Also due to the position, very often dirty.
@@henrikgustavii9762 _"facelift EV6 has a digital rear view camera to compensate for the lack of rear wiper"_ -- does it? Interesting. I'm not sure how much value there will be in that change, at least without an automatic wiper for the rear camera. I find that the rear window doesn't get that bad even in heavy rain, but the camera gets water droplets and even dirt spots in even modest rain.
Ever so slightly against the general sentiment here, I think for UK, we are still waiting for next gen battery tech. It feels a bit like watching computer processor development back in the 90's until eventually the processing power caught up with and generally exceeded software demands. Sorry for the obscure comparison, but what I am alluding to is that I expect battery tech to deliver 500+ mile range from lighter weight battery units. When that happens, EV's will have matured. Until then I'm afraid I still view them as early adopter material, best suited to business users.
You're right the fingerprint & facial-recognition technology has been in cars for a while already. It's been in Merc's since about 2020, I'm pretty sure it debuted on the S-Class (as most new tech does!)
Yes, the height issue(s) put me off the EV6 too. Not enough headroom under the sunroof (the GT is better but I couldn’t justify that) and the rear cushion set so low that passengers have to sit with their knees up in the air. Pity, because it looks great and is a nicer drive than the Ioniq 5, and I like the updates to the interior.
This is certainly one of the best channels out there. And yes Kia, Hyundai are showing how it's done. Especially now extremist Musk is destroying Tesla. Just need to get prices down more!
Although it was back in 2022, when I test drove the EV6 I felt the rear seat floor was too high and thus not comfortable for passengers. Did you notice any difference in the new one?
Hah! As an EV6 owner, I often look at the Ioniq 5's driving around and think to myself that I like the way they look better. My wife likes the EV6 look better, and I like the interior feel better on the EV6 (more "wrap around" while the Ioniq 5 feels more "sit upright/mini-van" to me), which is why we wound up getting the EV6. But both are great looking cars if you ask me. Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. :)
I've had my Kia EV6 GT line S for 2.5 years and love it.....but over that time I've had and still have got a persistent, intermittant12 volt battery problem where the battery drains and renders the car unusable. This fault started nine months after purchase. It's going back to Kia in three days time for them to try yet again to rectify the problem. My wife and I have been left stranded on several occasions so much so that she now refuses to use the car. I have had to buy a 12 volt battery booster in order to start the car when it fails. My wife would definitely not be able to cope. I'll let you know if Kia manages to fix the problem. What can I do if they can't fix it???
Can the charging network keep pace with the new tech? Judging by how it is now, I doubt it. Until there are huge EV charging stations in every town, city, and motorway services, people are not going to make the leap. There has to be that 'reassurance in the system. Car manufacturers are making very good cars (albeit very expensive) at the moment, which, as cars, are getting very tempting. The infrastructure is not so much. As always, a superb video 👌
Hi Pete I have the current ev6 rear drive GT Line S and love the car having had the Kia e Niro before. My take on the face lift modal is I prefer my wheel design also the front look. But the bigger battery capacity is another plus. As for the interior I agree with you on the gloss black and yes the steering wheel looks modern. But the big improvement is wireless Apple CarPlay. The simple answer is would I consider this car as a replacement for mine when I’m ready to change then yes is the answer. But would be interested in the EV3 as a duel motor GT modal going to view the car next month when the road show comes to my local dealership.
And it still charges sooo fast with the proper charger.
Yes, the 77kWH battery is basically massive. EVs are going to evolve to smaller batteries once people begin to get used to the concept.
Agree - I def prefer the previous look.
Yes you're the only one
Prefer the look of the new one tbh.
I prefer the original headlights. But I love the new wheels.
I’ve had my EV6 for over two years. Fabulous vehicle.
👍
Facts: Kia and Hyundai keep smashing it out of the park.
Yep 👍
Also smashing it with loads of hard cheap plastics. I wish they did better there

I had an EV6 for a bit. I wish it did not feel so cheap inside. Soooo much hard plastics.
Cheers, Tom
Thanks Tom 👍
They are fantastic cars.
I’ve had a GT for 2 years and covered 22,000 faultless miles. The car has been impeccable. I doubt I’ll need to use the 7 year warranty, and the rapid charging makes all the difference on longer journeys.
My battery has only degraded 1.5% in that time and of course the performance is incredible.
You can add a wireless dongle for wireless CarPlay for about -£70 but the charging pad does certainly get hot. I suspect that’s why my iPhone battery is not great so I might actually move back to wired charging even if the CarPlay is wireless (you can do that)
The piano black does get finger marks but I’m careful and mine hasn’t scratched, but I agree there are better alternatives.
The full screen HUD and sat nav are very good, I use it in preference to WAZE now.
All in all both the original and newer one are amazing!
Pete, you always deliver content in such an easy way and it makes your videos a pleasure to watch. There’s a lovely balance to it😊.
Many thanks!
It's definitely a big improvement! Can't wait for the proper review!
Coming soon!
I’ve had my EV6 GTLS for nearly 3 years, still absolutely love it 🥰
Looks like the facelift has some nice new tweaks.
Great to hear!
I have the EV6 Horizon delighted with it and we tow a caravan works perfectly.
ped , one of biggest updates with this facelift is an increase of 200kg towing capacity to 1800kg across the range, only the top gt version had 1800kg towing capacity before..
so opens up more options for caravan towing.
Cheers 👍
Great review Pete! We got a used Kia EV for the missus recently. It's a great little car and the service from Kia is outstanding. When my Tesla goes back at the end of it's lease it'll be one of these instead.
I think the headlights on the old model looked better. The new ones just look like every other modern car.
We miss Charlie 😢
Great to hear!
Honestly, I had an EV6 and thought it was the best car ever. Then I test drove the Tesla Model 3. Now i have a Tesla Model 3. Expensive test drive...
@@TheAegisClaw it's getting better but that SuperCharge Network is a HUGE bonus if I were to make the leap in the EV world.
I have a EV6 long range for near 5 years. Never had to stop and charge only charge at home for free. Mind blowing the advantages over fossil cars
@@invisiblekid99 that and Sentry Mode can't be overstated as reasons. Just a shame Musk insists on putting so many people off.
I liked the old headlights better.
Of course, having had it for a year, I've had enough time to find things I don't like, but it's a short and, some might say, petty list:
-- GT-Line gets touch buttons for seat/steering heat/cooling controls, I'd much rather have real buttons for that.
I always get excited about Kia, being an owner leaser 🎉
Great comparison...I am convinced to look towards this car over a VWID 4 or 5...love your reveal of the sat.nav screen😅
Love it, not due to change for a couple of years, but will be looking at EV6 or the EV5. Great video as usual, just love your style Ped.
Thanks! 👍
I’ve driven the new one this week and have to say the car and the subtle styling changes from the previous model are very welcome. It looks fantastic in person, super comfy and the new operating system and hardware has made a huge difference.
Totally agree!
No mention of suspension changes in the facelift? Saw a review out of Korea that suggested significant enhancement in the suspension.
Love the latest design - stunning. Kia really have progressed in leaps and bounds. Almost makes me wish I could afford one. Great review Ped but just as I would expect.
Thanks 🙏🏻
I wasn't keen on the headlights of the original car as they looked a bit too big but that's been addressed so that's great.
Good review. 👍🏼
We have the GT which is an amazing car. Would go so far to say the best car I’ve ever owned. The range on the GT is lower than GT Line, etc. but as you say: who drives 300 miles a day?!? It does everything brilliantly - look forward to seeing the full review.
Great cars 👌
If and it's a BIG IF, I'd have to go for the the GT version if I were ever to get rid of the Stinger.
Much appreciated!
Car looks great, lights can make a car, big fan. Thanks for the video
I do really like that colour of the press one, can see why they chose it 😉
Nice review, thanks PP.
Any time!
Thanks Buddy 👍
Totally agree about the most important issue being speed of recharging against range as that is the game changer of having an EV
Great inaugural face-lift video Pete. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Love the face lift version Pete. I’ve had my EV6 GT eleven months now and absolutely love it.
Any idea if and when there will be a face lifted GT version and any stats?
Alan
Ps. Love the colour. When I ordered mine it was black or white and over a year’s wait!
I hope they do a GT but don’t have details 😢
Interesting. Opted for a gt line S pre-facelift model just a month ago was concerned I'd be missing out on some major things, but actually glad to see there are still major similarities between the models with little tweaks rather than any major upgrade.
I approve of the changes, but yeah, I'm definitely glad to be driving the Ev6 now, rather than in 6 months.
Maybe the GT will get a face-lift before my lease is up and I'll go for that 😀
If only that finger print recognition auto disables lane departure warning etc within your profile
As I have said before I own a Volvo C40 All Electric Crossover and love it to bits. Has all the gadgets in it I need but the KIA does look good.
thanks for the video! When is the new EV6 available to order?
Not sure yet 😢
Have an EV6 since 2021. Hate the new front end compared to mine. Improvements are nice but the price has gone up again.
Are you sure the UK production version won’t have the “eye-detect” camera? My 2024 Hyundai Kona has it and I would have thought this would be standard for the group.
Nice early review!
It will have attention monitor but not the full blown system on the car I tested.
Another interesting video Ped.lve converted to a Niro EV which is very impressive. But I do like the look of the EV6.
👍👍
👍
I’m Canadian and I got the exact model you tested. You said it cost 53,675 GBP. I converted my Canadian price into GBP: base price 38,847 GBP less 5,883 GBP provincial and federal incentives = 32,964 GBP PLUS Prov/Fed sales taxes 37,908 GBP. This last price includes all delivery and dealer charges. WOW. Am I missing something on your pricing? I have a 2024 since July, it still seems a big difference. Import duties, etc??
Wow 😮
We don’t get any incentives anymore.
Yeah love the car and like the updates! I test drove a used pre-facelift GT a few weeks ago. A stonklingly fast car 😁. It’s currently at the top of my list as the next wagon when I upgrade in June.
Thanks for sharing!
That was a good, clear review. My only gripe was I would have liked to have seen the size of the boot as I drive an Audi A4 Avant and I’m due a change but boot size is a deal breaker for me. However, really like your calm style.
Sorry. Covered that in previous EV6 reviews. Not changed with the facelift.
I went from an S4 Avant to an EV6. In practical terms there’s little difference in boot space. I’ve used both for camping trips and I fit everything I used to take in the S4 in the EV6.
Own the old ev6 gt line which is a good EV allround! Looking forward to owning the new uplift!!😊
@@DerekMartin-hy6vvis that opportunity coming through a lease update or will you be selling your old EV6 and buying the new?
Another great video, liked the comparison with the outgoing model. Nice upgrade with usual Kia quality. Range anxiety will stay with most people considering an EV but thing’s are slowly improving but at quite a cost!
👍
A friend of mine described Range anxiety as something people experience before they get an EV.
I ummed and ahhed for a while before getting mine and think I agree. Range just hasn't been a concern for me at all.
Refreshing to see a review that is open minded rather than the usual cynicism about EVcars
I try my best 😜👍
Thanks and enjoy the new wheels 👍
I love my EV6 but man did I get a Friday car! The list of issues goes on and on, 3 years of ownership coming to the end now and it is going. Last update to fix the battery going flat has caused more issues. I love it but, I'm replacing it with the Nero until the 4 comes out.
Love the updated look !! But that's Palisade/ Telluride price 😮 which isn't electric, but which has more room. I have the new Santa Fe calligraphy hybrid, which I love for the room and mpg.
I prefer the front end of the original EV6.
Nice to see some improvements elsewhere.
Mazda CX60 has facial recognition for drive profile set up

So does my Lexus LBX
Looks a great car. A very attractive proposition. Kia and Hyundai are definitely the cars to watch going forward
They are!
0:28 Don't forget the EV5! Kia's best looking electric SUV imo
Interesting 🤔
Does look an improvement very tempting
👍
KIA are certainly making some really interesting and good looking cars and that New EV6 looks fantastic
They are!
Nice road test good looking car
Out of interest when are you going to road test the MG Cyberster would be interesting test as you are a boxster owner
Soon I hope 🤞
I like both front ends, thanks for sharing your review 💯⚡️👍
No problem 👍
Good shall we say starter review, were you regenerating whilst driving around? If you were how did it feel - is it adjustable?
It's a Kia with paddle's totally adjustable regen
Good video - Hasn't convinced me (yet) to upgrade my EV6, but have to agree the piano black is a pain in the ar#£.
Is it really the right thing to focus on rapid charging, although the speed is good, won’t the cost be very high?
Great to hear 👍
...the only negative my wife's got is that the EV6's turning circle is pants!
I like both the front and the back of the 2024 quite a bit.
👍
How are there so few 300-350 kW chargers in UK. In NL pretty much all gas stations stops next to highway have 300-350 kW chargers. Often quite a lot of them. Same in France.
But is the Finger Print button part of the security system? So that the car can't be stolen.
Not yet
Old is gold
Real world with eGMP EVs there is minimal penalty going from RWD to AWD if driven in proven Normal mode with Auto Regen. My AWD EV6 was rated 260 miles and I reliably get over 320 miles in moderate weather.
Hyundai Kia are killing it!!
Yep 👍
Nice 👌
The facelift EV6 has a digital rear view camera to compensate for the lack of rear wiper. Seen this on all the Korean reviews I've watched 😆
@@harvey66616 It has been confirmed that European/UK versions sadly won’t come with a digital rear view mirror. 😕
Friends Audi A8 think it was 2007 had fingerprint start, he’s got a new one and its not actually got it so maybe they thought it was a gimmick.
I am only 6'2'' and didn't have enough headroom with the sunroof with the outgoing model was disappointed I couldn't fit in it
Yes, the height issue(s) put me off the EV6 too. Not enough headroom under the sunroof (the GT is better but I couldn’t justify that) and the rear cushion set so low that passengers have to sit with their knees up in the air. Pity, because it looks great and is a nicer drive than the Ioniq 5, and I like the updates to the interior.
And when will I see the KIA EV5 in Skandinavia?
Not sure 🤔
This is certainly one of the best channels out there.
And yes Kia, Hyundai are showing how it's done. Especially now extremist Musk is destroying Tesla.
Just need to get prices down more!
Thanks Alan 🙏🏻
Although it was back in 2022, when I test drove the EV6 I felt the rear seat floor was too high and thus not comfortable for passengers. Did you notice any difference in the new one?
Nice car but what happened to the sunroof it doesn't reach back passengers
As an Ioniq 5 owner, I can concede this is quite a bit better looking.
That’s not good 😢
The instavolt chargers at Bannatyne Weybridge are 75Kw.
And expensive
Can the charging network keep pace with the new tech?
Judging by how it is now, I doubt it.
Until there are huge EV charging stations in every town, city, and motorway services, people are not going to make the leap. There has to be that 'reassurance in the system.
Car manufacturers are making very good cars (albeit very expensive) at the moment, which, as cars, are getting very tempting. The infrastructure is not so much. As always, a superb video 👌
I kind of like the old front design.
Me too, far sportier and looked premium
Will there be the fast GT variant like the old model?
I hope so 👍
Hi Pete I have the current ev6 rear drive GT Line S and love the car having had the Kia e Niro before.
👍
