    OWNING A SOON TO BE 2ft FLORIDA SOFT SHELL TURTLE!
    In this video we’re discussing how it’s been owning my Florida soft shell turtle! She’s currently about 12in in length and 9in in width. I’ve had her for about 2+ yrs. She’s such a magnificent turtle, tons of personality. If you have the space, I would highly recommend you get yourself one. My Florida soft shell turtle will eat almost anything I put into the tank, she readily accepts meaty foods as well as pellets. The only con is the size habitat she needs, otherwise great turtle to own! If you enjoy this sort of content, subscribe to the channel. Thank you for your support!

    She’s so cute😍😍😍😍😍 is she aggressive with people ? Are you able to pet her ?
    Right now I have a red ear slider that I rescued and now he’s doing amazing . The other day I bought a map turtle (she has her own tank ) I look forward to buying a soft shell turtle 🐢
    Amazing video

      Thank you and she’s not aggressive but I don’t really want to be bothered. I don’t pet her or pick her up now that she’s so Big. She’s so strong and her nails are ridiculous. Thank you for your support! Sorry I missed this comment! I also have a map turtle. 🐢

    Great video!!! Nice temporary setup way better than most people have. Recently got some Pallid Spiny Softshell baby's as I've went down the Softshell wormhole 👍🐢

      Thank you Bro! I appreciate it. Soft shell turtles are dope! How big do they get? My girl will get 2ft when she’s full grown. I bought a male and female but she bit his 🍆 and pulled it out. I paid $1200 to get it amputated to attempt to save him…. 1 week later had to pay $200 to euthanize him…. Total shitshow…. That being said, get them sexed when you can.

      @@TheFishCorner That's crazy sorry about the male 😭 Most Softshells get very territorial. I have Eastern's, Gulf Coast's, and Pallid's. Florida's are the largest species in America and Pallids are 2nd. Getting Midland Smooth Softshells next. They stay small and are way less aggressive 👍🐢

    I have these living in the half acre pond behind my house in Florida. I usually go and feed them table scraps for fun and chicken bones which I cut in half with a pair of garden shears. If you had her in a bigger area you could put small fish in that are fast, I think in the wild they are opportunistic and will eat dead things or slow moving live things and I don’t fish in the pond anymore because I want to car one and couldn’t get the hook out and I felt really bad they are super fast and will bite you in a heartbeat

      That's awesome..I would love to have her in a pond one day. Right now she's in a 125g pond but obviously she's going to outgrow that, then I'll upgrade her again.

    ?? I’m glad I came across your channel I needed educated on this smh I don’t know what I got myself into so soon she won’t be able to be in a tank with nobody she is female 😢my friend gifted me with 3 baby turtles the other 2 or painted turtles and the 1 is a soft shell turtle and a olive green with tiny black dots 😢

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m glad you did too! And I’m sorry but most likely she will not tolerate any of inhabitant’s. I had to get rid of two red ear sliders and the male she injured him so bad. It costed $1200 for the surgery and 2weels later $200 to euthanize him…. Since then, she hasn’t allowed anything in her tank, no fish. Nothing.
      BUT….. I moved her into her new enclosure, a 125g plastic pond with a area for her to climb onto land and potentially lay eggs (she hasn’t come out of the water by choice at all, since being in the enclosure) but since she’s been in the new enclosure. She has allowed 6 gold fish to live with her….
      So strange…

      @@TheFishCorner Wow 6 Gold Fish live with her amazing Specially since you had to loose your male turtle and $1200 . You said she lives in a plastic enclosure pond. Is it not a good ideal for my Turtle to be in a glass tank once she starts growing bigger ? 🥲

  • @Fishguy13
    @Fishguy13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you plan on ever getting her a bigger tank or is this good for her?
    I have a common snapping turtle, I got her online as a hatchling and now 7 years later she’s the size of a dinner plate and thick but not to fat. Eats like a pig and is the only thing in her tank that stays alive lol turtles are super cool to keep alongside fish!

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. She just got THIS TANK a week ago. But when I feel it’s necessary I’ll figure what her next setup will be. I have a second fishroom and multiple ponds that I plan on building, so I’m sure it will not be a problem.

      It happens ALL the time! They’re sometimes just store personnel, Someone else may do the ordering. But like I said, it happens at pretty much every pet store I’ve been to. They’re not experts.
