The time is finally here y’all! We are moving our FLORIDA SOFT SHELL TURTLE to her new enclosure! This is so long overdue! Myami our Florida soft shell turtle is three years old. She’s about half the size she’s going to be when full grown. The new enclosure is 32q ft. 8 ft x 4ft. It’s temporary since she will outgrow it but to see her bask on land is something we’ve waited on for so long! Huge piece of advise for you if you’d like it. I got a “home security” camera system with 4 cameras that I set up on my tank room and my reptile enclosure. It was like $500 and super clear image so I can watch my animals while I’m gone. Look into it as you’ve got a lot of water there bro

I just purchased a baby Florida soft shell turtle. It’s been a day since I’ve placed her in her tank and she has not touched her food she seems too scared to eat. I know it takes time for a turtle to adjust to their new environment but I’m worried. What can I do to get her to eat? I gave her a mix of pellets and sun dried red shrimp in her basking area .

Sorry for the late response, I’m playing catch up. Congrats on the new Florida soft shell turtle!! That’s exciting, don’t worry too much about he or she not eating, turtles can go weeks without eating especially when you just get them. Try some frozen thawed out shrimp or piece of tilapia. How big is your turtle? Also, aquatic turtles cannot eat out of the water, that’s tortoise’s, aquatic turtles cannot swallow the food unless it’s in the water. Try putting her food in the water and see if that changes things. You can also buy some guppies or minnows worst case scenario. Most turtles will gladly eat live fish. But like I said, that’s last resort. Let me know how it goes. 💚
