  • This video offers a different perspective on typical basking and sand burying trays.
Restaurant food trays for turtle aquarium setups work great, allowing free range for turtles to swim and move around. The hanging basket food tray setup allows a full aquarium setup, along with a turtle basking area attached with clips to the side of the tank. Easy to clean & offers extra room to safely swim or bask.

Love the bamboo soap sponge thingy
I like to make a screen cage with doors atop any tank and utilize the plastic lip and creatively cut a pc. of 1/4 inch ply to make the land and suspend a large basking log type decoration under that to lead to the opening above .
Which allows a turtle to get out onto that platform .
As well i will then cut a dish tub (black) and fill with substrate for egg laying , digging and place a cave decor over that for comfort .

My parents rescued a baby softshell turtle after a hurricane and put her in their fresh water fish tank. My dad feeds her fish food for predatory fish, and she loves it. Sometimes he handfeeds her. She's probably a little bigger than this turtle now. And yes, she swims very fast.

Just an FYI; softshell turtles need strictly sand, a couple inches of it, in their tank. Stones and gravel will damage their shell.

Soft-Shell turtles are naturally aggressive, and they bite. Always. They have a beak with a small tooth. They bite but it's just a pinch. They always bite, so a different species might be a better choice for you.
