Roxanne and Boone are great characters and are a good couple. I like the way that Jessie gets her message across in a sensitive way. I love all her books and this series is one of my favorites. Jay's narration in this audiobook brings the story to life.
Thank you so much, Karen! I know you've heard me say before that my part is just a small one; that Jessie's writing is the magical stuff - this book is a great example of that! It's so good!
🎉bouquets to you as well, Jay. You bring Jessie's beautiful writing to life.Listening to you read her stories helps me cope with some very difficult days of painful sickness when my brain & body hurts too much to function well.
I have been crying for an hour. No spoilers, but Jessie, you will know where I am up too. I too, went through this experience many many times. Still crying. I hate it when you write this well!😢😢😢😢😢
Thank you Jessie for another fantastic book. I have never lost a child, but my heart hurts for those who have. I cried for Roxanne's and Boone's baby. My heart lightened when Boone talked about holding his baby in heaven. I hope this brings comfort to all who are grieving. Thank you Jay for being a great narrator. The auctioneer voice was awesome. I love listening to you.
I loved this book so much. I cried so hard remembering how we lost three of our babies and we named them all girl names and the feeling of knowing they are being raised in heaven has kept me going all this time. I know one day we will see them all again the day we enter heaven. My boys even talk about their sisters in heaven. Thanks Jessie for the story and Jay for the audio. Also, side note I loved bearding the beginning of Larks story.
This was a very unique storyline and I loved it! I couldn't keep from turning the pages (or rather, swiping on my kindle app). My stomach was twisted up in knots almost the whole times as I was on pins and needles about all of the happenings. So much happened in this book between the mains and it was incredible. I'm super excited for Abner's story next. Audio: So unique but well done. Some difficult stuff in here and very well portrayed in this audio. Another impressive listen. I totally binged it in one day!
A listen I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the story and Jay does a great job of bringing it to life. I do enjoy resting my eyes and going to live in a story. Happy Reading ! ! Note This comment expresses my honest opinion.
This was great! Jay really brings these stories to life. I always start a book at the beginning of a road trip and finish what’s left when I get home. This time I finished one and started another and another. I always forget there are others around while I’m listening until my son or my husband chime in or giggle at a funny part. Can’t wait to start book 9
What a wonderful story! I laughed out loud about Boone's brothers having contests every Sunday, seeing who could sneak the most knives into church! Then I shed tears with Roxanne when she lost her baby. Thank you for such a powerful story, spoken with such tenderness and strength.
Jessie always amazes me how she can deal with such sensitive topics. I loved Boone and Roxie story. This was such a touching story and brought tears to my eyes. It was only made better by Jay’s performance!
Enjoyed listening to this book. Jessie has a clever way of creating beautiful characters and creative plot. Well done! Thank you. Looking forward to the next listen.
This is such a great and inspiring story and Jay your narration brings so much feeling to it, I really enjoyed listening to this. Thanks Jessie and Jay!
Boone is such a loving and patient man. I know Roxanne has been through a lot but man she really takes a lot out on him. It started to get frustrating. But finally when they met in the night and were dancing it came together. Yep, that was a very patient and loving, Christ-filled man! 💞
You and me both, Lucia; you and me both! I think, if I'm remembering correctly, this may have been the first Jessie scene that may have made me a little misty-eyed. Good stuff!
I realise that these are christian books and that honour and reputation etc is important in them, but surely the days of shaming unwed mothers and people that stray a little belongs in the old way gone by days. I refuse to believe that any caring God, any loving creator, would be angry at either of these characters. It just makes me a little sad that we are still living in a world where that judgmental attitude still exists.
Thanks for your thoughts, EV, and I do see what you're saying. I think the best thing, and the ultimate message that I definitely get from Jessie's books, is that we have a God who loves us in spite of whatever sin we have, and that no one is beyond His redemptive love; and for me, that's a really wonderful thing.
Well said. God loves us inspite of our rebellion. He gives us free choice to choose His way our do it our own way. Whichever we choose, He still lives us, but we still have consequences either good or bad ones. The great part about it, is He loves us either way. I love our God, Jesus and savior.
Hi Linda! Abner does get his own book, and it is book #9! Hope you enjoy it! (And thank you for your kind words about that scene - it definitely was emotional to record!)
Each story gets better and better. What started out as a bargain becomes a first rate love.
They do, Donna! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one!

It’s a funny thing but I loved this book when I read it- having Jay read it aloud maybe it was even better!
