Intriguing story fully depicting the old and rugged ways of the old west along with Thier sorrows and deepest feelings. I marvel at L’AMOUR’s ability in writing.
To tame a land. My late husband had all the Louis L'Amour books in his collection and I learned to love reading them, too. Thank you for this audio. It brings back such wonderful memories of my husband.
I have a copy of this book back at my house, but due to my lengthy work schedule, i sadly dont get as much time to read as i used to. So i listen to alot of audio books, so thank you for making this available for people to listen to.
This is how my dad taught me how to read he read all of us two or three chapters get us hooked and then put the book down and and of course we had to finish it and later he would come back and read another chapter where we were at and then he would give it back to us I love those memories of my Dad
To Tame A Land. I'd forgotten Louis L'Amour was actually a good writer. My genre is the golden age of British detective novels, but my husband was a big fan of L'Amour's work. I'd never seen this title before, so decided to give it a listen. I was drawn into the story from the beginning. Thanks for an enjoyable evening.
Mack, I Had a great several hours listening.I am sorry to hear that you will not make any more Louis.’Amour .My father had the whole Louis l’Amour collection. I read them all at least once before I lost my vision. It was a real pleasure being able to listen to these old books on audio. Please list any other books that you have made. Thank you, leo.
Thank you for listening Leo. Your support is so appreciated! Be sure to check out the only other L'Amour classics on my channel which are The Broken Gun and Radigan.
I've been a fan of L'amour for many years. When my father travelled, he did much travelling, he would buy L'Amour to read on the plane. I would raid his briefcase looking for L'Amour as soon as he returned.
Thank you so much for listening Jim! Our team really appreciates you and hopes that you will consider sharing this channel with someone who might enjoy it! 🫂 ❤️ 🎧
As a boy growing up in the 1960s, my favourite genre of movies were westerns. Still my favourite in my old age. An amazing author, creating, enticing, atmospheric stories. You're a great story teller. Keep up your excellent work! Thank you.
I have a large collection of paperbacks that had been my father's. They are a great way to influence a young man. They are a great way to connect with my father.
Thank you, great work! I am Russian and this book is one of my favorite by LAmour, this book is called "Gunfighter" in Russian. I was grown on western books living in Russia even so I live in US now and still love them, Jack London, Mayne Reid, Mark Twain etc, they were all great.
To Tame A Land - Thank you for re-posting this one! I have a goodly collection of L'Amour paperbacks begun when we retired to Colorado. I was unfamiliar with this one, and so was glad to find your readings on YT. It's become more and more difficult for me to read my own collection.
Thanks for putting this reading, i have read Plutarch because of Louis L'Amour. Plutarch is one of my favorite historians and philosophors, but Louis L'Amour will always be my favorite.
To tame a land... Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away, I read many Louie L'Amour novels, but I don't recall reading this one. Of course , nowadays, I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast. I shall now endeavor to locate more of his novels in audiobook form here on the TH-cam. Listening is better than trying to read with my 69 year old, near sighted eyes.
To Tame A Land One of the few authors that I can enjoy rereading his works. My son was reading his books when he was 6. My spouse and I collected every book in print by Louis L'Amour. I enjoyed this audio book this evening. Thank you.
Dear Listener & Guest... If we keep you entertained, do grace us with your like, comment, and maybe even share this channel with friends! To tip the narrator personally, use the SuperThanks feature (see the ❤️ by the👍 button). This is just a re-upload of some old L'Amour content I recorded a long time ago. Unfortunately, I won't be able to record and release any more L'Amour classics.
I wish I could continue with the L'Amours but I can't because of copyright and because the L'Amour Foundation has not responded to my request for permission .
My mother‘s father was a big fan of pulp westerns. She had a great big box of the paperback books that he had collected throughout his life. Many of them were Louis l’Amour and Max Brand. He passed away, very young his wife who was illiterate and not much of a reader Wanted to burn those books, but my mother took them and hid them away in the attic. I used to sneak up there when I was a youngster probably between the ages of 10 1112 and read them. I didn’t get a lot of it but my mother seemed to think that they were inappropriate for me. I don’t know why I don’t recall any horrifying sex scenes or anything like that in them. But I was a little innocent and if there was anything like that, I just passed it over and didn’t understand it I guess, but I have always been a big fan of westerns in the written word and the TV variety. Eventually, when my parents sold the farm and moved out, I believe the books were left there which makes me sad of course when I was young and was trying to read them. The pages were already almost orange and brittle so now where I’m almost 70, I’m sure they’ve crumbled the paper or been used as toilets by mice. But that’s where my fascination with Western books, especially by Louis Moore and others of his generation came from and I really enjoyed this reading. I enjoyed the way that the reader, as if he was the narrator that was much better than the robot voice that some of the people who read these books use. Or perhaps they are robots reading them on some computer program. All I know is that I enjoyed this very much and I’m gonna be on the lookout for the same reader reading these types of books.
Please excuse the mess that this turned out to be. As I said I’m old. My eyes cannot see this tiny print, so I use the audio feature to dictate my comments. And apparently it doesn’t understand a Minnesota accent very well. I actually do know how to communicate in the English language quite well. Sorry it appears that I’m an idiot.
I am so glad that you enjoyed my reading of this book. Mr. L'Amour was a true credit to the Western genre and his books and their landscapes continue to carry some unattainable essence that captivates the imagination. His style is one that gives enough insight into a character to excite but also enough privacy to remind us that his characters live private lives and have private thoughts of their own. It is amazing that you have such a rich personal history with the books and I only count it a privilege to help you relive it.
