UPDATE: Other reviews seem to not mention the audio issue I have. It's possible that I'm the only person in the world who has this issue and I just got unlucky. However, I am going to review these cables based on my own experiences with them. The fact that it's even a possibility makes it so I wouldn't buy these unless you have composite/s-video cables to use for audio, just in case.

The first run of the Prism Cables had an error with the audio pins, The channels were reversed, so in a lot of games, the Audio channels would bounce back & forth/cut in and out. To fix this. Simply take the audio pins out of whatever device you have them in & swap them around when you're plugging them back into your device. Retro-Bit has said they will provide people with their new run of cables if a customer got one of their first run cables. Just reach out to their Customer service (I meant Support Team). Hope that the Audio solution fixes the audio issue you're having.

@@wwemankindfan813 That's very interesting! Where did Retro-bit say that they will provide new cables? I'm having trouble finding it.

@@yoshipilot Contact their Support Team & tell them you think you may have gotten a first run of the cables & ask if you can get a pair of their new run.

I had this problem. The audio from my cables would work for about 2-3 minutes & then the audio would cut out. Thankfully, I plugged in a GameCube AV cable & it solved the problem. I totally forgot the official GameCube component cable didn’t have audio.

Mine didn’t even output any audio at all. I contacted Prism but I never got any service so I sold them and bought the official component cables

Would have been nice to see a direct comparison between this and the Nintendo cable, some people say the Nintendo one on the GameCube look sharper than the Wii.

I am amazed how good my GameCube's output looks ever since I got this cable!

Nice job, a well done and informative video. I’ve been wanting component cables for my GameCube for long over 10 years now. I think it’s time to finally fulfill my dream.

Great review on these cables! I can play gamecube games in 480p, BUT no audio! Perhaps the digital AV port is video only, so I followed your solution and used the analog AV port for audio. Now all gamecube games looks crispy clean 👌

My model of GameCube was able to output with working audio, I wonder if it’s just a bad batch on your end. That makes them functionally as good as the originals, but at least they’re on the cheaper side although you could’ve got a Carby which are made by Insurrection Industries

Owning an HDMI adapter myself, I can say that I've never encountered any audio problems. I think those are simply down to the cable. In hindsight, I should have just stuck to that instead of getting these cables as well. I just wanted to avoid unnecessary conversions when I have a component input handy for a CRT.

Love the video, the Pokémon music playing during the Mario footage was a little weird but still vibed

I have 2 of them. One was a replacement for the first one that had audio issue. The 2nd just happen to ship to me the next day so I have both at the time of writing this. I didn't even had time to send the first one back yet. The first one had that same issue shown in the video. The 2nd one they just sent me didn't even work at all. They as in Amazon btw. That why I am able to get these sent to me so fast. It also one of the reason I'm here. I was looking to see if other had these issues. Now I'm debating on just sending both back for a refund and trying that Kaico one. Or doing what done here and buy a GC av cable since I only have one and it being use by my N64 currently.

I grabbed a pair from castle mania games, but hasn’t arrived yet. (Usually have issues with the shipping. Idk if it’s their end, or just the post office in their city) but knowing it’s similar to the Wii quality, I’ll be happy. I didn’t think I’d need it after seeing the comparisons, but I’m still looking forward to it for game boy games. And perhaps to have less wear on my Wii.

Glad I watched this video first, I wasn't aware of the audio issues, haven't seen it in other reviews

Not sure why they bothered adding a DAC for audio considering that using the composite cable for audio already exists. Would have made more sense if instead they added a spdif output on the plug like with the Xbox 360 cables.

The color scheme looks like the colors assigned to those signals when component was invented😐

I have this exact issue with my Retro-bit Prism HD, the HDMI version that is. Have you found a solution yet?

    • @yoshipilot
      @yoshipilot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Only solution I found is to use the audio from the composite cables. Other than that you might have to contact retro-bit support

  • @brandontalbort

Interesting about the audio issue. I wonder if it is a consistent issue across the board as it would seem weird for them to include a broken audio connection over and above the OEM Nintendo cables if they don't even work. They must have done some QA testing, right?

Yeah that was a bit disappointing. I can't be 100% sure if it's an issue with every cable or just my cable, but the fact that it's a possibility makes it so I wouldn't buy them unless you have a composite/s-video cable to use for audio.
