6 Reasons to Buy a 2024 Honda Ridgeline! (What’s New?)

  • The Honda Ridgeline is slowly gaining sales momentum and it makes sense. Compared to the Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado, Ford Ranger, Jeep Gladiator and more, the Ridgeline gives you more amenities and comfort for the same price (or less). Still, there are limitations that keep this from superstardom.

    People complain on the price but compared to the new 2024 Tacoma's this is priced well. Yes the TRD Pro and the traihunter have more features but I cannot image spending 55K-65K on a midsize truck!!!! That is full size truck money and you don't even get as much rearseat legroom on those as you do in this. I would much rather have this truck then a new 65K TRD Pro. 90 Percent of americans will use 65K TRD Pro to go get groceries and this will do that just fine and be a lot cheaper and ride way better.

    What's new? Unfortunately, for another year...not much. The Black Edition Ridgeline interior is lagging behind many of its competitors and surprisingly some of Honda's other models (like the Pilot). The Black Edition Ridgeline desperately needs interior improvements to set it apart from the lower trim lines.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I understand the sentiment but Honda wasn't trying to build a worktruck! And most who buy mid-sizers aren't using them for that to begin with (unless it's for a utility company). I'm still a Tacoma fan for its capability offroad and MT option but the Honda makes one great argument. I'd like to add, in the rare instance that you need the spare, moving half of the stuff that might be in the bed doesn't seem like a hard solution when you're already forced to stop. My spare tire on my old tacoma was located under the bed and breaking off the rust to get it down would have made that nearly impossible if I wasn't in my garage! (my bigger complaint about the Ridgeline spare is that it isn't a full-size).

  • @damilolaakanni
    @damilolaakanni 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I think the location and size of the spare tyre is going to be an annoyance for some people. It's hidden in the bed, so you might need to offload whatever you have in the bed if you get a flat tyre and you need to replace it. Also, it's a space saver with a steel wheel which means you won't be able to carry heavy loads or tow for long as it might affect the tyre. Other midsized trucks have their spare tyres underneath the truck, and they offer a full size spare with an alloy wheel.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think the non full-size spare would be a nuisance if you're offroad for sure! Though I've owned a truck with the spare underneath the bed and it was NOT easy to get down (due to rust and the cold). While it would certainly be a pain if you happened to be moving mulch or something when you needed to access the spare, outside of that, moving half of the stuff to get to it doesn't seem like a big deal. Especially considering this is not a work truck and the beds aren't constantly full.

    This AMAZING truck is low production, and you don't see them on every street corner because of the following reasons. Here we go!
    - It's not cool to the younger demographic
    - It's not a truck you find on sale on holiday weekends like US Truck makers (Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc)
    - Japanese automakers never advertise low APR% on their cars because they know their audience. Like point #2
    - Nobody ever said in a truck owners circle "Honda's truck is awesome," and it gets me tons of dates, girls (or guys) think it's sexy
    - You can't really lift or put 36-inch tires on Ridgelines.
    - Most younger folks even those in the trades starting out can't afford a $45-$50K (by the time you option it out) and or don't want that crazy debt
    - When US Truck makers advertise $13K off MSRP to move out 24 models to make room for 25's, everyone bites! Japan will never ever do that.
    So, who really can afford this truck!?!?!?
    - Slightly older (35 and Up) persons with nothing to prove. I have yet to see a 20-year-old driving this truck proudly that doesn't belong to his or her parents.
    - Average single income is about $120k single and combined is more like 250 or 300K (JUST BEING HONEST FOLKS) with better than average credit
    - I know General Contractors, Silicon Valley engineers, Nurses, and Doctors that own this truck
    Sorry for those I might have offended. I'm just explaining the facts that I've come to learn with Truck buyers and the socioeconomics behind the Ridgeline. Honda doesn't need a mass-produced truck. They understand it is lost when you mass-produce and liquidate value and price value to move them off dealerships to boost production and flood the market. That's practically cannibalism onto themselves. Instead, they'll let US trucks Mfg's screw themselves and it clearly shows in their stock price...
    I love this truck, yet I don't own one. I'm hoping and waiting for the redesign to buy one. Japanese trucks have historically always had a much higher resale value than US trucks. I know everyone can debate that one, but it's just what I've seen. I've owned Toyotas and Fords, and my resale has always been better with Toyotas.

    Of all reviewers you almost had it correct, it is IN FACT a Pilot with a bed, you threw the Crossover term out there, which is exactly what the Ridgeline is, a Crossover with a bed or more accurately a Minivan with a bed as both Pilot and Ridgeline are Odyssey based. It is registered as a Crossover and NOT a truck in half the states. It's carlike in ride as you mention, because its a car. The issue I have with all Ridgeline reviews is that they give credibility to the Ridgeline that it simply does not deserve. It's a GREAT product, but it's NOT a truck, it can't do what a truck does other than perhaps moving a large overstuffed chair that would not fit in the back of a Pilot. Just state that facts and take the squirt bottle and stick it in the "trunk", Cars have trunks, Trucks DO NOT. I also wonder, how much does Honda pay influencers to pitch the Ridgeline as a truck because EVERY review is in lockstep with this inaccuracy, and also why won't Honda just pony up the development cost to build a real truck, it can't be any more than what they are paying people to state misinformation...

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      If I ignored the downsides to unibody underpinnings, then that would be misinformation. I don't care what other people call it. SUV, Crossover, Truck, it loosely applies to all three and none of it changes what the vehicle is or does. I'm only left scratching my head by people who get offended by labelling it a truck.

      Tell us where the ridgeline hurt you? Haha. Seriously do some research on them. They are actually not built on the odyssey platform and have a subframe under the bed. Thicker, beefier shocks for a high payload of about 1500 lbs. Til last year, a TuRD tacoma had a 950 lb payload lol. A truck hauls things and a ridgeline definitely is capable. Even Land rovers and jeeps are unibodies, but I bet you call them real trucks.
