They briefly mention in the movie that the little deaf girl is the last of the tribe that lived on skull island. In the novelization they went into some detail. The storm around Skull Island closed in, flooding the island and most of the island sank permanently. Kong saved the little girl and that's why they have a bond.
The dome makes up most of the last remaining part of Skull Island.
Also.. the guy who was controlling Mechagodzilla, that's Serizawa's son. In the novel he HATES Godzilla.. kind of in a sibling rivalry way. He sees Godzilla as an older brother who his father loved more. In the movie, they only said his name once, so most people missed the connection.

The island was destroyed by the storms, the young girl and Kong were the only survivors, thats why Kong was in the contaiment dome, to save him. Also the hollow earth is Kongs original home.
Like that guy said (i forgot his name) he stated skull island was hollow earth brought to the surface, explaining how the skull crawlers got from hollow earth to skull island. I think kong was born in hollow earth then a gravitational surge ripped it up to the surface, the skull crawlers were awoken and they slaughtered the species.
After KotM and the comic Kingdom Kong, the constant storm that surrounded Skull Island had engulfed the entire island. Monarch built a dome for Kong to keep him out of the storm.

Godzilla’s main mission was to find and destroy Mechagodzilla. His side quest was to make Kong, another alpha titan, submit to Godzilla’s rule.
Godzilla and Kong are NOT friends. Kong gained Godzilla’s respect, but that doesn’t mean they’re cool with each other
yeup and after i watched GxK (which is realesed earlier in my home 27 March), i really think that was the case. Kong never submitted and that's what godzilla respects, but whenever Kong steps in surface again, Godzilla would not hold back to kill you.
Kong didn’t submit to Godzilla, in the novelization it’s stated that Kong’s roar back at Godzilla was Kong daring Godzilla to kill him, essentially a roar of defiance, that he’d rather die than submit to Godzilla’s rule. Godzilla paused out of shock, in a way by doing that, Godzilla now has a bit of respect for Kong. The ending was Godzilla reluctantly accepting that Kong is one titan he cannot control, and there was a mutual agreement between them to stay out of each others territories. Godzilla is the alpha of the Earth’s surface while Kong is the alpha of Hollow Earth
Yeah, keep telling yourself that, I guess. I mean, Kong was dead, no matter. So Godzilla did actually kill him if it weren't for the humans who brought him back to life, In the end, Godzilla was like thanks for the help, I'll allow you to live so long as you bow to your king.

Kong's heartbeat was slowing, they _literally_ outright state that Kong was dying. Had they not turned the HEAV into a makeshift defibrillator, Kong would be _dead._

The way humans give Ghidorah everything he needs to takeover earth for a second time is amazing

Mechagodzilla has always been one of Godzilla's deadliest opponents. Practically every appearance he has, he nearly kills Godzilla one way or another.
And almost each time Godzilla isn't in his prime before the fight starts whereas Mecha is in Tip Top Mint condition 😂.

Kong and Godzilla aren't exactly friends as the trailers for the new Godzilla X Kong: A New Empire suggests they will fight again before teaming up. It seems to be a more "you do you and I'll do me, but stay away" relationship.

Godzilla was starting to grow his anger before with Ghidorah, but yeah in this movie, because humans do this all the time, he got so pissed... Imagine the amount of energy he burned to do a friking new hole to the hollow earth, just like that and fought Kong pretty fairly, no wonder he got a wooping from Mechagodzilla.
And the poor Kong, trapped, then druged and dragged on a tiny aaah goofy ship (for their size of course), fighting on clear dissadvantage... The two monster made too much exercise,
He used up half his energy blowing the hole in Earth, according to the director. It was the only way to give Kong a slight chance. So he was even weaker for Mecha
Not to mention his constant traveling around the planet to destroy the alpha signal. Normally, he'd be resting, but he spent weeks traveling around. That's pretty exhausting. Then to fight kong twice, and blow that hole to hollow earth.
Apparently Kong and his family ended up on Skull Island because they were in exile after losing a war. 7:22 I believe that the skull crawlers killed her family and Ilene basically became her guardian so Jia is allowed to stay on the island with Kong. The reason they put Kong in the dome was to keep him and Godzilla from constantly fighting cause neither would submit to the other being the alpha. The little girl Jia is played by a deaf actress from a deaf family. I love they were able to use a real deaf actress and not just someone that learns sign language. 27:16 if she would’ve kidnapped Jia Kong wouldve let the ship go. I like how he looked in the ship to make sure his friend wasn’t there. 36:19 I think Kong’s axe was made from one of Godzilla’s (or his ancestor’s) spinal scales.
Kong stands roughly 330-340 feet tall, while Gojira stands roughly 393 feet tall and MechaGodzilla is around 400 feet tall. This is a loose remake of the 1962 Toho film King Kong vs Godzilla. MechaGodzilla in this is controlled by the severed head of Ghidorah

In the novelization, Ghidorah transfered his conciousness to Ren Serizawa's brain the moment his Mechagodzilla-body was destroyed.
In Skull Island, if you remember, there is a natural shield that is a storm surrounding the Island.
In this film, that storm decided to make landfall.
Monarch had to contain Kong to protect him at the very least because Monarch believe his existence is essential (and for research purposes)
Also, Jia is the last of the Iwi tribe.
Always count on Godzilla. Just don't get in his way.
Ghidorah took control of MechaGodzilla to destroy Godzilla and Kong but not the robot thinking for itself. What makes this scary is that we don't know if Ghidorah is truly dead since his mind is literally a supercomputer. I won't be surprised in future monster verse film we see him planning something huge against his enemies while living within the internet.
If it was, then Apex Cybernetic are fools to bring Ghidorah's head.
In the novelization of the movie, Ghidora is still alive and has taken over the mind of Serizawa(the one in the seat that got shocked.)
I think Ghidorah and the AI used to help the operator fused into mechagodzilla. It did have a mind of its own in a few previous versions

The REAL reason they couldn’t let Kong stay on Skull Island long term is because the island was completely consumed by the constant storms (which wiped out the native Iwi tribe) that hid the island until it was discovered in the 70’s in the movie. The containment facility did provide Kong a habitat, but not a long term one.
So it was either use Kong to lead them to the Hollow Earth, or let him die on Skull Island.
A bit of backstory on why Kong was in the biodome: the bat Titan Camazotz brought one of King Ghidorah's storm remnants to merge with the storm surrounding Skull Island to create a permanent superstorm that wiped out all of the natives and most of the other life on the island so he could take over. Kong and a military team managed to defeat Camazotz and banish him back to the Hollow Earth, but the only way to save Kong was to build the biodome.
Ain't no way y'all thought one of them was going to die knowing they're both in the sequel.

Ghidorah took over Mecha Godzilla and in the novel it's said that Ghidorah took over Ren Serizawa and is now in human form
As others have said, Skull Island was close to sinking into the ocean, with most of the ecosystem dead with Kong and Jia as the last remnants (the novel states that it was due to Ghidorah causinf a cataclysmic storm across the world at the climax of KOTM). So in the end, they needed to find a new place for Kong or else he'd die.
Also, Mechagodzilla was haunted by Ghidorah's consciousness. Each time the Mecha was activated and letting out a signal, it was actually Ghidorah's roar hence why Godzilla was so agitated and pissed off because his old nemesis is still alive and provoking him (Apex even used this as a smear campaign to make people hate Godzilla because his attacks seemed random). Mechagodzilla was essentially Ghidorah reincarnated, which is why Godzilla is so mad at it, and why the Mecha was so focused on and sadistically brutalizing him; it's Ghidorah reeking vengeance and torturing Godzilla before killing him.
Now you guys are prepared for Godzilla and Kong working together in Godzilla x Kong The new Empire 😎

I so love, how they've, even in the old movies, how they conveyed that these creatures are highly intelligent, not just obviously how Kong, as a primate, and in real life been primates have been found to be adaptive, intelligent, using tools, to tackle problem solving,..but also Godzilla,..in that he realized he could power up the ax with his atomic breath, and that there was a sense of fair play, when in stead of killing Kong, Godzilla just wanted him to yield,...as has been done in human fights, sword fights, or some hand to hand battles,..you the opponent, when you know your opposite has bested you, and you admit your defeat, in honor, respect of the battle,..not all animals in nature fight to the death,..many yield their position, give up their territory, to live and fight another day,..just love how that was done here,...they, the titans are enormous creatures, destructive creatures, but they're not stupid mindless animals,..love how they're emotions are more translated in these cgi characterizations, it's brilliant,.so glad you injoyed it, so enjoyed watching it with you,..I highly recommend going to see the new one,.or are you gonna wait to see it with us om here😉, ..Godspeed, Peace ✌

Directors commentary for King Of Monsters says that Outpost 32 was a nod to Outpost 31 from The Thing. I believe the pouring alcohol into the computer to short it out was another nod to The Thing, as McReady does this to the chess computer at the begging of The Thing.
Overall, Godzilla is the true Alpha. They really made MechaGodzilla omnipotent here, stronger than Godzilla. In the past, Godzilla was able to take on MechaGodzilla no problem. I kinda wish they would have gone the way of the past, where MechaGodzilla appears first with a Godzilla skin, and people think, why is Godzilla acting like this, and then the real Godzilla shows up and burns off Mecha's Godzilla skin, exposing the robot underneath.
The fight between Godzilla and Kong, they roar each other. Kong showing that he's not gonna surrender by roar back on Godzilla. Illena said in the beginning that Kong bows to no one and he's also considered as an Alpha Titans. Even nearly death also Kong didn't surrender. That's Kong. Even in the second round win for Kong and the third he lost. It shows only Kong stand in front Godzilla. Kong species fought Godzilla before.

I find it funny that super kong fan aka my ex kinda predicted kong signing really quickly, I'd have half a mind to think she seen bits of it before but whether or not she knew beforehand just made showing her GVK blindly fun ^^

Kong will also have new weapon called Titan Sword: Titan Sword is as strong as Atomic Breath from Godzilla 2021. With this weapon he will kill biollante.
This weapon also have power to shoot lighting ( as strong as Ghidora's electric or smth breath). This weapon can also heal kong and regenerate itself. Kong will het this sword after killing Anguirus.

Just three days away from the new empire release and I can't wait 😁🔥🔥🔥. Seeing Godzilla and Kong fight is awesome enough especially after seeing the 1962 king Kong vs Godzilla film but getting Mechagodzilla as well just spectacular. Also the reason why skull island is pretty much destroyed is thanks to Ghidorah storm also the skullcrawlers waking up thanks to Ghidorah. Also you don't see the other titans from the last movie cause they're asleep. Also no Godzilla and Kong are not friends at the end of this. It's just mutual respect. As long as they put their egos and beefs with each other aside especially what's gonna happen in the next movie. 29:33 no that was monster talk... I’ve never seen Godzilla use his fire breath so much against an opponent as he did against Kong. Not fair.
HIs atomic breath is literally his main weapon. He spams it in every movie, from 1954 until Minus One. It's completely in character for him. Realistically, Kong should never stand a chance.

Also that Kong knows the art of making and using tools so Kong's ancestors used to hunt other Godzilla's for power tools. Also Mech Godzilla took over OG because OG dug an entire hole through earth, fought muscled up Kong and then the ancient similar energy with Gidhora and modern weapons against OG made him weak at that moment. Kong charged the axe with Ghidora being removed (major thing) was able to dismantle Mecha (What I think is with Gidhora removed, OG would have also settled up the Mecha) but hey it's okay, Kong was also to be redeemed 🔥. The chain for me is like Ghidora, Godzilla, Kong, Mecha, Mothera.

I loved these movies and cannot wait for Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. Also Godzilla Minus One is one of the best Godzilla movies ever made along with the 1954 movie, I highly recommend watching the original movies
Godzilla can see in two different spectrum's of vision normal and infered .
I mean the little girl was the only one from the village still alive and maybe you forgot but Kong was friendly with the people who lived there. Also as bad as you might feel, they put the dome up to hide him from Godzilla who would have showed up already because he basically did a tour and put all the titans in check. And im sorry but id easily rather have Godzilla considering he's the one whos saved the planet multiple times😂😂

Kong was in the biodome because, after King of the Monsters, Ghidorah's storms mixed with the storm around Skull Island.
This wiped out the natives of the island and the rest of the ecosystem on Skull Island, with the exception of whatever Monarch could put into the dome.
Godzilla and Kong's species have a long blood feud. We don't know how it started (In the movies anyway) but Kong and Godzilla kinda buried the hatchet in this movie.
Mecha Godzilla didn’t learn on its own. Ghidorras skull took over so ghidora was piloting mecha Godzilla
