    Alison and Miracle Man led the way for my love of Elvis Costello ! I like BOC.. But Golden Earring is more to my interest. I know.. Strange comparison, but it makes sense to me ! I'm spinning "Agents Of Fortune" now. They weren't as big on the west coast as back east and the mid west, I think .. The hits of course were and are huge !

    Very cool choices Randy (I probably would have that Boston album on my own 100 listening list)…,liked the Christmas Story reference..lol. Talk soon.✌️

      Thanks Doc. A Christmas Story reminded me of a lot of family memories as it wasn't far off base. You could probably see in the video that the Boston album had quite a bit of ring wear as it was played a lot.

    Lots of mid70s memories among those albums. The only one I don't own is Blue Oyster Cult. Great entry Randy.

      Thanks Rich. When I was young and didn't have a lot of albums, I think that these that were some that piled up the listens.

    I don't remember an SNL skit about Don't Fear The Reaper...it definitely got played on the radio a lot here, even years after it was new along with Boston. 500 videos is a lot! I am getting close to 300 which seems like a big milestone. Have a good week, cheers!

      The SNL skit was the originator of the "more cowbell" phrase as BOC were playing and guest star Christopher Walken kept asking for "more cowbell." I am a long way from 500 videos. That Boston album had almost every song played on AOR radio. Thanks Doug.

      I think that Who's Next could be on my list. Face Dances I got in the CD era and played it in my car quite a bit. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Hi Randy - Funny story about Elvis Costello vs Styx. Of course, Elvis is much better 🙃I've heard most of these many many times!

      It was about two years later that I became a big Elvis Costello fan. I'm glad that I was able to reassess.

    Nice Randy, thanks for the shout! So funny how our musical tastes change so much as adults. I'm glad mine did, otherwise I'd still be listening to classic rock radio.

    • @RandyforRoyals
      @RandyforRoyals  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Sam. My tastes have changed over the years but there are still some mainstays from my early listening like Bob Dylan and Randy Newman. Of the ones I showed, only the BOC has been played recently.

    I don't think I ever saw the SNL skit about BOC. Sounds like I might want to avoid it if I want to continue to enjoy that song. lol I still have Agents and Boston in my collection; the only Styx album I have is Grand Illusion. I have a BTO Greatest Hits cassette which is sufficient for now. Remember the first contest I had a couple years ago when Steve Carlson parodied "Takin' Care of Business"? Still my favorite VC video (well, after Gosh The Musical, always my favorite video.) Thanks for entering Randy - this video is added to the playlist!

      The SNL skit had the actual group playing "Don't Fear The Reaper" and guest star Christopher Walken kept asking for "more cowbell" which kind of became a catch phrase. I will have to go back and see Steve's video. Styx was a staple for my late teenage years and was gradually left behind as I got into other artists. I had all their albums up until Cornerstone. Congrats on 500 videos and thanks for hosting the contest.

    Hi Randy!! great choices and i'm sure all of them have been spun more than a 100 times.... to me coolest one to see is BTO "Not Fragile" a very heavy album with cool singles and great deep tracks, one i must add to the collectio. cheers and be well

    • @RandyforRoyals
      @RandyforRoyals  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Cristain. You are right in that some of the album tracks on Not Fragile are just as good as the singles. These albums remind me of my teenage years.

    Some real classic rock giants there Randy. Only one I have or have heard is Agents of Fortune which I have on CD. One day I will listen to the Boston album. Cheers Dale

      Boston was a constant on AOR radio here in the states and almost if not every song was played at some time. I haven't played most of there in a while except the Blue Oyster Cult album. Thanks for watching.

    These picks all make sense from your youth. Pretty cool to see the BOC in there😁

      Thanks Gary. Agents Of Fortune is probably the album that still gets quite a bit of listening time.

    The most I've listed actually to a record was 20 times. Most of us are too afraid of damaging therir $50 limited ed collectible vinyl for future sales/trade. Boston was the best! I had that BTO and haven't found and ungoofed copy since.

    • @RandyforRoyals
      @RandyforRoyals  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As you can see by the ring wear on a couple of these, as an 18 year old, future collectability was not an issue back in those times. It's hard to have that many listens now as the collection as grown.

      @@RandyforRoyals I meant now, not then. I stored my LPs in a not climate controlled barn. For the most part they were OK. I had The BTO, Tom Petty and kept very few except Rock N Roll Highs School that I played A LOT.

    Steve's spreadsheet is getting more famous with every passing day. Cool to see BTO Randy, as I never see them in the vinyl community. Very popular in Canada of course!

    • @RandyforRoyals
      @RandyforRoyals  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do think that BTO is often overlooked. I only have Not Fragile and a hits compilation of theirs. I do have a Brave Belt album which was an early Bachman group.

      @alltheworldsastage899 You may have to start selling the program to other channels.
