    So cool to see you grabbing that second Dirty Knobs record, State of Mind was my song of the year from the record. I didn't know Clyde McPhatter was in another group before the Drifters. Good to see you back!

      I will try and remember State of Mind when I put on that Dirty Knobs record. I had no excuse to not get it when it was half price. I think that McPhatter was only in the group for its first two years before he left to form The Drifters in 1953. Have a great New Year.

    Hi Randy, Nice to see you back on the couch. $5 for a sealed record is a steal. I love that father John Misty record, Blue Mask and XTC, of course! The Go-Between are hard to find on vinyl here too. I have the one you showed, but it is not in the best condition. Happy New Year!

    • @RandyforRoyals
      @RandyforRoyals  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't know why I haven't purchased any Father John Misty records until now as I did like his set when he opened for Alabama Shakes. Sometimes just flipping through record store bins and coming across an album is the best way to get back to an artist. I knew that Lou Reed and XTC would be up your alley. I actually found two more Go-Betweens albums which I will show in a later video. When it rains ... Happy New Year.

      It was a good show. It's too bad that Alabama Shakes couldn't stay together. The Blue Mask is a fine Lou Reed album. I actually have two more Go-Betweens albums to show on my next vinyl finds video. I would never see them and now I have four on vinyl.

    Good to see you back Randy and I hope your holidays were great. Nice buy with the Steven Wilson disc, I haven't heard that particular one, but I have enjoyed his remix albums as much as his regular ones. I am familiar with "Harmony Codex" though which is what some of the remixes are based on, so I would imagine it's a pretty good album. I am familiar with SFA's "Fuzzy Logic" and actually love that album. I've been a fan of their music for a long time, but I have nothing from them on vinyl unfortunately. Great find! Very cool $5 finds! Wow, even the Mike Campbell album, what a score! I used to have the Uriah Heep "Fallen Angel" album, and there were a few great songs on there. I've also been meaning to get some Father John Misty, but haven't had any luck finding any up here. Anything that has ties to Fleet Foxes has been on my radar for a while, and I've been looking for his albums ever since he parted ways with them, but to no avail. So, there is another band to add to my radar, The Surfragettes, I haven't heard of them before, but it sounds intriguing. Nice David Alvin compilation, would love to find that one out there. It's always great to find anything by XTC, I'm also working on building up my collection from them. Amazing finds!

    • @RandyforRoyals
      @RandyforRoyals  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks Mike. This will be my second Steven Wilson album as I do have Hand. Cannot. Erase. I actually misspoke about Fuzzy Logic as I thought I had the album but it is a different one that I have. Now that I have some extras, I need to get the album proper. The one I have is on CD as well. I did have a Dirty Knobs single that came out for RSD but finally have album now. I think that Fallen Angel is an underrated Uriah Heep album but I will say that I do like David Byron more than John Lawton as a vocalist although I think Lawton does a fine job. This was the first album of Father John Misty's that I have found and I only have one Fleet Foxes album and I do need to look for more. I will get anything associated with Dave Alvin as I am a big Blasters fan. I still have a couple of XTC albums to get. I always enjoy your comments. Have a great New Year.

    Hi Randy. In my opinion, “The Blue Mask” is one of Lou’s best albums. I particularly like the opening track “My House” and the closer; “Heavenly Arms”, for it’s almost doo wop-ish quality. The Billy Ward and The Dominoes album looks super cool.. Happy New Year!

      Those are two songs that I should have mentioned on the Lou Reed album. I am still missing a few but it is one I really like. I prefer Clyde McPhatter's time with Billy Ward but this was a nice find and one you don't run across very often. Happy New Year.

    For that $5 price point, you can't afford not to buy them, Randy! Bummer about the record shop closing. FJMisty is great stuff. Neat Billy Ward! The Blue Mask I need to revisit. I also lament the rarity of Go Betweens finds out there. Cool stuff all around. 😎🎶

      I wish that I had gone back to that record store before it closed permanently. I think she closed the store for health issues more than anything. I needed to pick up some Father John Misty after seeing him in concert and finally (a few years later) did just that. I did score again with some Go-Betweens which I will have to show on a later video. I never see anything by them and then all of a sudden, hit the jackpot. Thanks for watching. Happy New Year.

    Happy new year! I used to see ads for the Orca film in comic books but I've never actually seen it. Somehow I think it is not very accurate in terms of actual marine mammal behaviour 😂 I've got an album by Don Julian & the Larks but nothing by Billy Ward & the Dominoes. I have heard of the Surfragettes somewhere but didn't realize they were Canadian. Great finds!

    • @RandyforRoyals
      @RandyforRoyals  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I have never seen the Orca film as well but I am a fan of most of Ennio Morricone's film scores. I have an album with Don Julian & The Meadowlarks and I know he later shortened it to The Larks. You don't see Billy Ward albums (even compilations) very often. I would like to get an album from when Clyde McPhatter was in the group. The Surfragettes formed in Toronto, but I think that one of the original members has been replace by a someone from Ohio. Thanks for watching and have a great New Year.
