  • A long weekend on a couple of beautiful, seldom-paddled northern rivers: the White Otter and the Pic. We search for Erin's first brook trout and my first overhead northern lights.

    Man, I found your vids just over a week ago after coming back from Nipissing West and Killarney Provincial Park. I was back to work trying to keep the feeling going. I must have watched well over 20 hrs of your trips. I think you could sell your footage to a network, still do what you love to do without dragging people along. Thanks again for sharing this work. Filming and editing all of that is just that, a lot of work . There are a lot of people out here, like myself that really appreciate what your sharing here . Best thing I’ve seen on TH-cam in the outdoor category hands down .

      Hey man, very least I can do, look at what you are sharing with everyone here . Thanks, it’s about all I’m watching right now . Driving my girlfriend nuts with it 😊. Her words ( the canoe guy again !?!) . Yep, the canoe guy .

    I hiked about 2 miles into the Great Smoky Mountains for my first brookie. It was about 6 inches long which is ab average down here. Erin catches her first more or less in sight of the put in and at least for me it was a whale! I should be jealous but instead I just really love watching you guys! You guys are way better than Netflix!

    You mentioned that you are a lucky man because Erin wanted to take the canoe. To find a lady who is beautiful, has a good sense of humor, loves the outdoors, and isn’t turned away by adversity, you are a lucky man. Many would say that Erin is a rare gift from God. At any rate, she is a wonderful human being and worthy of love and respect, she’s a keeper as they say. Relationships can require hard work at times, she is definitely worth the effort, you guys work good together. 👍🏻👍🏻two thumbs up. Great video by the way, makes me wish I was a Canadian citizen with all that natural beauty in my back yard.

    those are trophies for most of us.
    I recently moved to within 30 miles of the penobscot east branch.
    Gonna get after them this year.
    its a mistake to assume the fish aren't there just because you aren't hooking them, they're there alright.
    They hide under the foam just out of the main flow, foam gives good cover.

      Hahahah if you're ever desperate, the rivers and creeks in the Manitouwadge area are some of the best brook trout waters I've fished. So many watercourses and such low population density, and not even that many people fishing them amongst those who are there, especially in canoe-accessible parts. Have an awesome trip man!!

    Great trip, loved the time lapse on the burning log. Jon I’ve only been watching a short while but you my friend have it sussed, not only does Erin like fishing and canoeing camping etc you also buy her a saw for her birthday so she can cut firewood.......😉😎👍 you must have the smoothest line in chat.😂 if I even joked about buying my wife a saw......well suffice to say I wouldn’t hear the last of it.

    Just found your channel and absolutely loving your vids. That fact that you both also love fishing just makes them even better. Spectacular country and many parts of your rivers remind me of sections of ours in NSW, Australia. We have had a bad summer with fires in many parts preventing us from getting out on the rivers and dams. Now we have heavy rains. Looking forward to working my way through all your vids. Thanks

    • @LostLakes
      @LostLakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much Troopy! That's really interesting...I never pictured our rivers here bearing a resemblance to yours. Such catastrophic fires...they were all over the news here. Insult to injury to get heavy rains now. So sad.

    • @Troopy67
      @Troopy67 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Backcountry Angling Ontario thanks. The upside of the rain is it has helped extinguish a few of the fires and restarted the flows in some rivers. Some of our dams have also been topped up so we're hoping to still get into them before summer ends. Thanks again and looking forward to your next vid 👍

    Really nice video guys, great job on Erin’s first Brookie. Holy cow what a fish! My first was about the size of the lure!
    On the fishing, not sure if you had tackle for bait fishing but sometimes just a worm on a hook will out fish all other lures and flies when Trout fishing, especially on a rainy day such as the one you experienced while at the falls. Those dark damp overcast days set them crazy on worms!

    • @LostLakes

No chance of wild camping anywhere near where I am as it's all farmland and private woods apart from a national park, campsites only, and 400 square kilometres of wild plain where I work. No chance of camping there unless you want to share your campsite with unexploded shells. Still, I can dream.

    • @LostLakes
      @LostLakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahah so funny you say that. We've often thought about a drone, but opted out because there are other things we'd rather spend the money on, it's one more thing to carry, film with, and charge, and there's something about it that feels a bit gimmicky to me, but after Manitou Falls we were saying that we wished we had one there. The sprawling nature of that falls made it impossible to capture the whole thing...a drone shot would've been epic. Thanks Craig!
