Goddammit, this was just a roleplay thing. I like dramatic, tragic hero's that help in spite of any scorn they get. Especially if they go against the grain. Like that one nord student. Typically, I usually use two handed great swords, especially the dwarven or dragon bone great sword. However, I have one playthrough saved where I roleplay as a nord that specializes in magic, only able to use daggers with any amount of proficiency. A nord that grew up wanting to be a master of the "clever arts". That's what I was going for. Not to complain, of course, just stating for the record.

It was a lot better in Morrowind, where choosing to join one faction made you the enemy of another, so you couldn't be the leader of everything. I also wish you could choose to destroy all the factions instead, and choose not to be the hero. But you barely have any choices...

I should be allowed to be an evil character, and the main quest should have multiple paths to allow for more RPG elements and choices, as opposed to one linear main quest that you have to follow to even get to the last boss.

@@brandonwithnell612 It's actually the High elves fault that the Nords hate magic since Nords during the Aldmeri Dominion wars don't use magic as they dislike it seeing it as a coward's art. When the Empire was about to lose to the High Elves due to their magic and elven weapon the Empire was force to sign a one-sided treaty which ban all worship of the Hero god Shor which result in the Nords hate in magic along with Elves of all kind, but they especially hate the High Elves as almost all High Elves in skyrim are with the Thalmor. Wood Elves they just dislike, but don't hate Dark Elves are the other hand are treated badly due to how a huge influx of them flood into Skyrim due to the eruption of the Red Mountain. Modern Falmer are basically monsters that needed to be put down by the Nords while the Ancient Falmer are extremely well hidden so the Nords have no clue some survive the purge Ysgramor did.
I do that for every game I play because it's more fun. I don't even use the carriages, I just run there or take a horse. Though I play as a werewolf, so my running is a bit easier. But not when I play a loyal to fact werewolf and make it interesting so I only turn at night or when I visibly see the two moons full(which by the way changes after the first few days because the day you get out of Helgen is always a double full moon, but you can reload saves after and it changes for no reason at all).
I've actually got a funny anecdote. During my first playthrough of Skyrim, I didn't know you could fast travel in the game. I finished pretty much every major quest line and spent over a 100 hours in the game before I realized you could fast travel. I've got no excuse for why I thought that way since I'd played other Bethesda games before that. I just never really checked and thought that the horses and carriages were supposed to be how you move faster from one place to another.

My favorite part is that sometimes the guard will say they have a lot of respect for the restoration school, but they will immediately tell you to "watch the magic" if you cast healing near them

@@jack-exzolt9858 Indeed. Magic is much like swordfighting in that it requires strength, patience, dedication and training to wield properly. But the modern Nords cannot see that, for the most part. Not helped by the fact that most of their bitter foes in recent memory have been magic users.

@@jack-exzolt9858 Healers are useful because their spells can restore a warrior to full fitness and health in moments, whilst Enchanters can imbue weapons and armour with spells that make them more resilient and effective in combat. But you are right in that it is hypocritical of them to disdain spellcasters whilst making use of magical items. Hell, Ulfric himself carries an enchanted steel axe and the Stormcloaks see him as the paragon of a true Nord. And the use of the Th'uum is a specialised branch of magic, yet the Greybeards are not met with such disdain.

@@marek9364 Okay, kind of a lot to unpack here. Alduin isn't Akatosh or Auri-el. Akatosh and Auri-el are different aspects of the same god, Nord and Elvish respectively but function independently. Alduin is the FIRST BORN of Akatosh, a creation of him. Where did you even get the idea that they're the same from? I can kind of see how it would happen as the Nords do also call Akatosh Alduin very occasionally, but the book "The Alduin/Akatosh Dichotomy" written by high priest of the Akatosh Chantry debunks and explains this. "Yet there are those who believe, even in this enlightened age, that this is not so. That the regional interpretations of Akatosh are not interpretations of Akatosh at all. Rather, they are references to altogether different deities, deities who may or may not share the same aspects or be the Great Dragon at all. Many Altmer of Summerset Isle worship Auri-El, who is the soul of Anui-El, who in turn is the soul of Anu the Everything. But if you ask the high elves themselves (as I did, when I traveled to Summerset Isle to continue my research), the majority will concede that Auri-El is but Akatosh with a different name, colored by their own cultural beliefs. "Why would Alduin create the dragonborn if his desire was to eat the world?" Other than that, Alduin is never shown to hold any power of a god, just a supremely powerful entity created by a god to start the next kalpa. Next, "how do you know if Shor is really Lorkhan?" is a very strange and unrelated question to how you prefaced it. We know Shor is/isn't Lorkhan. Shor is merely the nordic aspect of Lorkhan. "His most popular name is the Elven variant Lorkhan, or Doom Drum, which sometimes appears as LKHAN or LHKAN. Names for versions or aspects of Lorkhan include Lorkhaj (the Moon Beast) in Elsweyr, Lorkh, the Spirit of Man, the Mortal Spirit, or the Sower of Flesh to the Reachmen, Sep in Hammerfell, Sheor in High Rock, Shor in Skyrim, and Shezarr in Cyrodiil." We don't know what happened to Lorkhan after his shattering, but it seems to remain that these aspects of him are quite active. This is supported by how Shor isn't absent in Sovngarde because he's dead, he's not in Sovngarde because the last dragonborn, unknowingly, IS SHOR. If you read all this, thanks for entertaining my tangent lmao. But yeah there is absolutely no question that Alduin isn't Akatosh/Auri-el and that Shor is Lorkhan.
Lorkhan/Shor never was Sithis Sithis is just another name for Padomay and all Padomay was is just a personification of the force of Change The contrast to Padomay/Sithis is Anu who is the embodiment of Stasis And all godlike beings of the Elder scrolls mythos are either Anuic, or Padomaic The ones we see the most often are the Padomaic types, who are in fact the Daedra But even non Daedric beings can be Padomaic, such as Lorkhan/Shor And Lorkhan/Shor is seen as an element of change because he changed the very make up of the cosmos by allowing for the creation of the mortal plane

Whenever I play skyrim, I always do this quest last. I imagine that the Dragonborn says all of these in a kind of recap of everything leading to this point. I think it sounds epic and makes the fight with alduin more "final".

Like I'd expect consequences for even talking to a god while worshipping a daedric prince, or even some deals made between daedric prince's so they both could own a piece of you. A missed opportunity on Bethesda's end

Honestly i find tsun one of the most interesting characters shown in an elder scrolls game Tsun is quite literally a god, the nordic aspect of the Zenithar oversoul. In morrowind, mainly during the imperial cult quests (and once during the main quest) you meet some aspects of the gods which are pretty neat. But here is different as this quite literally is a god, an actually worshipped aspect of Zenithar. Alduin is similar as he is the nordic aspect of Akatosh but i feel tsun is more interesting because he is in the form of a man EDIT.: after further learning i not longer agree with the last statement fully. Yes alduin is a part of akatosh but as are all dragons, he was just the first and given a duty specifically. However for the sake of the record i shall keep the error in my comment so the replies can be understood
Alduin is not the Nordic aspect of Akatosh, they are totally different gods. Alduin comes to destroy the world, while Akatosh is the god that maintains time during the worlds lifespan.
Akatosh is the Nordic Pantheon's version of Akatosh/Auri-El, that's just how it is plain and simple. The idea of Aka-Tusk(That Auriel, Akatosh and Alduin orginally were part of one soul and were "shattered") is from Kirkbride's out of game fanfictions and is non canon.
@@nepnep1453 To be fair, the idea of Aka Oversoul is acknowledged within ES universe through the Truth in Sequence book in ESO with mentions like the "misassembled dragon that breathes dry falsehood and whose name is 'Multitude'", which is a reference to the illusion of duality caused by time and space, and Aka shattering himself apart to create time. Sotha Sil and his followers seems to acknowledge and believe in a lot of concepts that came from Kirkbride's OOG writings. By the way, the Nord chieftains in ES universe also doesn't agree with the view that Alduin is the Nordic Pantheon's version of Akatosh/Auri-El. They see this as a oversimplified view that stems from misunderstanding of the Nords' belief. @@ChristianAuditore14 There is no evidence in the lore that they were that tall. Skyrim is inaccurate with this though. Bosmer aren't all that short in the game and Orcs are inaccurately depicted as bigger than Nords, who are the girthiest race and the second tallest behind Altmer.

I just take the Nightingale armor and leave without making the deal to get Karliah out of hock with Nocturnal. Then I TCL up and into Irkngthand and fight my way to Mercer Frey, take his stuff (which unfortunately does not include the Skeleton Key), TCL up through the rock blockage, and leave Brynjolf and Karliah to their fate. Back at the Thieves Guild, Vex is a little peeved that I whacked Mercer, and demands 1,000 Septims to get back in her good graces, but that's it. I don't get to be Guild Master, but that just spares me the grind of all those city quests. =^[.]^=

Typically, I usually use two handed great swords, especially the dwarven or dragon bone great sword. However, I have one playthrough saved where I roleplay as a nord that specializes in magic, only able to use daggers with any amount of proficiency. A nord that grew up wanting to be a master of the "clever arts". That's what I was going for.
Not to complain, of course, just stating for the record.

@@brandonwithnell612 It's actually the High elves fault that the Nords hate magic since Nords during the Aldmeri Dominion wars don't use magic as they dislike it seeing it as a coward's art. When the Empire was about to lose to the High Elves due to their magic and elven weapon the Empire was force to sign a one-sided treaty which ban all worship of the Hero god Shor which result in the Nords hate in magic along with Elves of all kind, but they especially hate the High Elves as almost all High Elves in skyrim are with the Thalmor. Wood Elves they just dislike, but don't hate Dark Elves are the other hand are treated badly due to how a huge influx of them flood into Skyrim due to the eruption of the Red Mountain. Modern Falmer are basically monsters that needed to be put down by the Nords while the Ancient Falmer are extremely well hidden so the Nords have no clue some survive the purge Ysgramor did.

I do that for every game I play because it's more fun. I don't even use the carriages, I just run there or take a horse. Though I play as a werewolf, so my running is a bit easier. But not when I play a loyal to fact werewolf and make it interesting so I only turn at night or when I visibly see the two moons full(which by the way changes after the first few days because the day you get out of Helgen is always a double full moon, but you can reload saves after and it changes for no reason at all).

I've actually got a funny anecdote.
During my first playthrough of Skyrim, I didn't know you could fast travel in the game. I finished pretty much every major quest line and spent over a 100 hours in the game before I realized you could fast travel.
I've got no excuse for why I thought that way since I'd played other Bethesda games before that. I just never really checked and thought that the horses and carriages were supposed to be how you move faster from one place to another.

@@jack-exzolt9858 Healers are useful because their spells can restore a warrior to full fitness and health in moments, whilst Enchanters can imbue weapons and armour with spells that make them more resilient and effective in combat. But you are right in that it is hypocritical of them to disdain spellcasters whilst making use of magical items. Hell, Ulfric himself carries an enchanted steel axe and the Stormcloaks see him as the paragon of a true Nord. And the use of the Th'uum is a specialised branch of magic, yet the Greybeards are not met with such disdain.
Saying you can frenzy the masses into slaughtering each other doesn't exactly breed trust among the non magical folks

@@marek9364 Okay, kind of a lot to unpack here. Alduin isn't Akatosh or Auri-el. Akatosh and Auri-el are different aspects of the same god, Nord and Elvish respectively but function independently. Alduin is the FIRST BORN of Akatosh, a creation of him. Where did you even get the idea that they're the same from? I can kind of see how it would happen as the Nords do also call Akatosh Alduin very occasionally, but the book "The Alduin/Akatosh Dichotomy" written by high priest of the Akatosh Chantry debunks and explains this.
"Yet there are those who believe, even in this enlightened age, that this is not so. That the regional interpretations of Akatosh are not interpretations of Akatosh at all. Rather, they are references to altogether different deities, deities who may or may not share the same aspects or be the Great Dragon at all.

In fact, most children of Skyrim seem to view Akatosh in much the same way I do - he is, in fact, the Great Dragon. First among the Divines, perseverance personified and, more than anything, a force of supreme good in the world.

It's also worth noting that the author then goes on to question certain legends of Alduin and their validity due to lack of evidence from Nords passing down knowledge through word of mouth rather than literature. However, all those questions and legends are proved in Skyrim such as Alduin eating the souls of dead to maintain power and being something of a "Dragon King" that other dragons followed.
The conclusion the author makes is definitely incorrect " it is my conclusion that the Alduin of Nord legend is in fact mighty Akatosh, whose story grew twisted and deformed through centuries of retelling and embellishment," as we can easily trounce Alduin being the same entity as Akatosh with one question. "Why would Alduin create the dragonborn if his desire was to eat the world?" Other than that, Alduin is never shown to hold any power of a god, just a supremely powerful entity created by a god to start the next kalpa.
Next, "how do you know if Shor is really Lorkhan?" is a very strange and unrelated question to how you prefaced it. We know Shor is/isn't Lorkhan. Shor is merely the nordic aspect of Lorkhan. "His most popular name is the Elven variant Lorkhan, or Doom Drum, which sometimes appears as LKHAN or LHKAN. Names for versions or aspects of Lorkhan include Lorkhaj (the Moon Beast) in Elsweyr, Lorkh, the Spirit of Man, the Mortal Spirit, or the Sower of Flesh to the Reachmen, Sep in Hammerfell, Sheor in High Rock, Shor in Skyrim, and Shezarr in Cyrodiil." We don't know what happened to Lorkhan after his shattering, but it seems to remain that these aspects of him are quite active. This is supported by how Shor isn't absent in Sovngarde because he's dead, he's not in Sovngarde because the last dragonborn, unknowingly, IS SHOR.
If you read all this, thanks for entertaining my tangent lmao. But yeah there is absolutely no question that Alduin isn't Akatosh/Auri-el and that Shor is Lorkhan.

Honestly i find tsun one of the most interesting characters shown in an elder scrolls game
Tsun is quite literally a god, the nordic aspect of the Zenithar oversoul.
In morrowind, mainly during the imperial cult quests (and once during the main quest) you meet some aspects of the gods which are pretty neat.
But here is different as this quite literally is a god, an actually worshipped aspect of Zenithar.
Alduin is similar as he is the nordic aspect of Akatosh but i feel tsun is more interesting because he is in the form of a man

Akatosh is the Nordic Pantheon's version of Akatosh/Auri-El, that's just how it is plain and simple. The idea of Aka-Tusk(That Auriel, Akatosh and Alduin orginally were part of one soul and were "shattered") is from Kirkbride's out of game fanfictions and is non canon.
@@nepnep1453 To be fair, the idea of Aka Oversoul is acknowledged within ES universe through the Truth in Sequence book in ESO with mentions like the "misassembled dragon that breathes dry falsehood and whose name is 'Multitude'", which is a reference to the illusion of duality caused by time and space, and Aka shattering himself apart to create time. Sotha Sil and his followers seems to acknowledge and believe in a lot of concepts that came from Kirkbride's OOG writings.
By the way, the Nord chieftains in ES universe also doesn't agree with the view that Alduin is the Nordic Pantheon's version of Akatosh/Auri-El. They see this as a oversimplified view that stems from misunderstanding of the Nords' belief.

@@ChristianAuditore14 There is no evidence in the lore that they were that tall. Skyrim is inaccurate with this though. Bosmer aren't all that short in the game and Orcs are inaccurately depicted as bigger than Nords, who are the girthiest race and the second tallest behind Altmer.

Tsun explains perfectly why I can never go through the completing thr Thieves Guild questline; as soon as Karliah says that my soul will be bound to Nocturnal forever I nope the Hell out.
I do it for that reason, I like to think everyone fights over the dragonborns soul if you become everyone's champion
I just take the Nightingale armor and leave without making the deal to get Karliah out of hock with Nocturnal. Then I TCL up and into Irkngthand and fight my way to Mercer Frey, take his stuff (which unfortunately does not include the Skeleton Key), TCL up through the rock blockage, and leave Brynjolf and Karliah to their fate. Back at the Thieves Guild, Vex is a little peeved that I whacked Mercer, and demands 1,000 Septims to get back in her good graces, but that's it. I don't get to be Guild Master, but that just spares me the grind of all those city quests. =^[.]^=
