@@trissi4468 Considering he's the chosen of a Divine, a Daedric Prince if he's an Orc or Dunmer, 3-5 if he did all the questlines (Hircine for Companions, Molag Bal for Vampires, Nocturnal for Thieves Guild, and Herma Mora for Dragonborn), potentially one of the long-lived races, even longer lived if he's a mage (for reference, the so far oldest mage in Tamriel was 4000 by the time one encounters him in Morrowind (no word on whether he survived the Red Year, but he sure didn't seem like old age was gonna slow him down, so I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to survive...)) potentially immortal if he's a vampire... Chances are *very* likely he's going to outlive any family he has.
While your body ages and withers you thum echoes through tamriel yet only a few can hear it, Parthurnax Durnnerveir and Odavhing where ever they be echo it throughout the plains where it be Mundas Atherireus or Oblivion

Parthuurnax would be the most likely to be able to echo it across Aetherius, as he is the most "spiritual" dragon there is, not to mention he's the brother of Alduin, who was the first born of Akatosh, a divine (who originates from Aetherius). Odahviing would echo it across Mundus, as out of the three listed, he's the most "normal" dragon. Durnehviir would echo it across Oblivion, as he is tied to the soul cairn, of which is a plane of oblivion. God I love Elder Scrolls lore.

Phew of mine have flexed with families they made, some just became immortal lords of evil caz why not, and i plan to make one old man to do ALL the good and then die as a beloved by everyone person.
I personally like to imagine Lydia carrying the casket up the mountain on her own, and everytime someone offers to help her she simply shakes her head and gives the same response: "I am sworn to carry his burdens."

Across the snow capped mountains of Wrothgar to the burning ash of the Red Mountain of Morrowind. They could feel the echoes of mourning for the soul of the last Dragonborn headed to its rightful eternity
Not pictured: 20 minutes earlier, when the Dragonborn decided, having saved the world from three apocalyptic events, that he was probably strong enough to tank a direct blow from a giant.
@@thecosmictraveller3232 they had to wait 4 weeks for its orbit to become unstable so it could re-enter the atmosphere. By sheer chance, the corpse of the dragonborn landed at mach 10 directly on the giant that killed him. An act of vengeance from Sovngarde.
Later, the Dragonborn would rise from his grave, confused. This was the first time he opted to wait in-place for more than 24 hours. This was something he would never repeat again
This reminds me of the very last big playthrough I did in Skyrim. My character was a real hero--saved Skyrim, defeated Harkon, killed Miraak, destroyed the dark brotherhood, the whole nine yards. But during the boss fight with Harkon, he was infected with vampirism just before he struck Harkon down. In my head canon, it was like a final act of spite, a final curse before being slain. My character struggled with his vampirism for the rest of the game, even as he went on to do many great deeds, hiding his secret shame from the people he fought to protect, knowing they'd turn on him if they knew. His craving for blood tormented him constantly, turning even his moments of greatest triumph to ashes in his mouth. I used the better vampires mod to make sunlight lethal to him, so he could not even feel its warmth against his skin. Then, one day, as he stood in a cave to hide from an imminent dawn, I realized something. His work was done. All the great enemies had been defeated, the civil war was over. Skyrim was at peace, stable, and strong. So my character removed his helm and let it fall to the ground, followed by his gauntlets. He unbuckled his sword and unsheathed it, glancing at the blade that laid so many foes in the graves, and let it fall to the earth as well. I like to think a moment of absolute peace came over him And then he walked, smiling, into the dawn. He was still smiling when the first rays of daylight turned him to ash.
One day a new evil approaches the coffin hoping to gain the legendary magical armor and weapons of the greatest hero of Tamriel. But he hears boss music as the coffin bursts open and he sees a hulking man rise out of it. On his status bar it simply says. "EXTREMELY WELL RESTED"
Next time the Elder Scrolls takes place in Skyrim, the player has to go to the Dragonborn's tomb which holds the Elder Scroll needed to overcome whichever crisis Tamriel faces.
@@lupus2079 Nah, fam. The tomb's location is not recorded anywhere - either by word of mouth, rumour or writing. To get to it is an impossible journey. Then you have to fight all of the heroes of Sovngarde who rise to defend the tomb and the dragons whose souls the Dovahkiin has absorbed. And then you have to get the Dragonborn's permission to take the scroll.

They couldn’t revive the Dragonborn because he had 150% shock resistance, little did everyone know that he simply enchanted the armor they buried him with.
This just makes me think of my Breton with enough boosts to magic resistance that I should be at 100% magic resistance and yet I still take that tiny bit of damage because of the soft cap

Yeah, cause everyone collectively agrees that choosing only one side of the civil war instead of telling the Thalmor to fuck off cause the Dragonborn is powerful enough to rival Daedra is the dumbest thing Todd and Bethesda could’ve done. I love the game with a passion, but we should be given the option to actually unite Skyrim.

This gives me an Idea for The Elder Scrolls 6: A few hundred years later, Serana is still around and tasks the new protagonist with finishing what the Dragonborn tried to start when he died. This could also become kind of a mystery element, because Serana could be distrustful of you at first, and over the course of the main storyline she starts to trust you, so she slowly reveals to you what happened, and what big menace managed to kill the Dovahkiin.

Several texts survive this timeless period, all (unsurprisingly) conflicting with each other regarding events, people, and regions: wars are mentioned in some that never happen in another, the sun changes color depending on the witness, and the gods either walk among the mortals or they don't. Even the 'one thousand and eight years,' a number (some say arbitrarily) chosen by the Elder Council, is an unreliable measure.
Far into the future a new hero will rise, this hero will ask Paarthurnax, leader of the Greybeards, one simple question “Where can I find this Elder Scroll?” Paarthurnax tells this new hero of it’s location, merely a few metres behind them, at the top of the Throat of the World. The hero walks up to a tombstone simple in its design, not encrusted with jewels or gold, but simply made of stone. Paarthurnax then shouts the phrase Dovah Qahnaarin Alok (Dragon Vanquisher Rise). The ground begins to shake and crack with the strength of 1,000 dragons as a figure draped in dragon bones emerged from the ruined ground. The figure first looked at Paarthurnax then to the hero standing in front of them, the figure calmly handed the hero the Elder Scroll and simply said “Now it’s your turn”
The new hero gets on one knee head bowed in both fear and respect "I don't believe I am worthy of being in the presence of such greatness but I'll accept the burden to protect my home my family my friends" the dragonborn places the elder scroll in the new heros hands and with his last undead breath he whispers "take my armor my sword seek out Serana my companion she will train you"

I mean, yea kinda, the Daedric Princes should have more power than the Aedra. The Aedra poured pretty much the entirety of their being into Mundus so I don't think they have the power to fight against the Daedric Princes especially with how many could be coming for the Dragonborn's soul.

@@callumkristofer7793 vampires aren't properly immortal, but yeah, even so, it would not be that hard for the dovahkiin to become functionally immortal. i mean, their soul is already the immortal soul of a dragon, they'd just need a necromancer to try and raise them and just pop right back into their body.
Just imagine what actually happens after your character dies- Your random corpse, if found, is the single greatest repository of magic items in all of Skyrim, probably all of Tamriel. Whoever finds it is going to be set for life.
Serena gonna be set for life, also, I've got some very strange and arcane weaponry in my possession, something about a great sword that belonged to a Knight artorias. Whoever that is.

She would never do that, I think necromancy is considered not only a dark magic but also like disrespectful for the dead person in question, also because he would not be alive, just an empty shell, so a bandit, a skeleton, who cares about them, but do it to her platonic sister/brother or platonic love, she would not.

There's something about Serana that just makes it more gut-wrenching. The Dragonborn was a valuable friend, ally, and student to everyone that knew them. But even if their relationship was never anything other than platonic, Serana and the Dragonborn meant more to each other than anyone else in their lives. The Dragonborn showed Serana that there was more to life than being a pawn in her parent's games, and though a life filled exploring the world and slaying all manner of monsters is a dangerous life, it is one worth living still. And in Serana, the Dragonborn finds something more than just a friend, but an equal. Serana is someone the Dragonborn could feel true kinsmenship with, and an inspiration to never become just another Miraak.
All my Skyrim characters be like: Here lies the dragonborn, King of procrastination, Most murderous member of the Dark Brotherhood, Bringer of buckets to the heads of the shopkeepers, Savior of the thieves guild, We will never forget him, although we'll try.
Legends tell of an extraordinary warrior. A Dragonborn, master of spells, steel and stealth. It is said that they slew Alduin the World-Eater, Miraak the Abyss Dragonborn and Harkon the Vampire Lord. But for all their feats in battle, people said they were a kind and just soul, uniting Skyrim during a time of great turmoil, befriending Imperials, Stormcloaks, werewolves and vampires alike. I’ve even heard that they have traversed Sovngarde and drank with the heroes of old while still living. It’s hard to be sure, but rumor has it that the legendary Dragonborn is buried at the peak of the Throat of the World, along with the sacred Elder Scroll, guarded by the Greybeards and the old dragon Paarthurnax, so no evil should lay their hands on the Scroll again. P.S. In my headcanon, if a challenger arrives, the Dragonborn’s armor, possessed by their soul, rises to battle them and prove that they are worthy to wield the Elder Scroll.
Me as the dragonborn in their reading my will "I wish for a dungeon to be built full of the most dangerous traps, enemies ,and puzzles alike and at the very end there will be the treasure room holding all of my weapons, armor, and 100,000 Wheels cheese along with my gold enough to make every single hold in Skyrim look poor and at the very center there will be all three elder scrolls placed around all copies of the lusty the argonian maid"

What if in another version the dragonborn has saved Nirn from utter destruction countless times over the course of their lives, and has even had children(who also have the Thu'um) and has been able to pass on their legacy to the next generation of Dragonborns, and it ends with the dragonborn standing at their house somewhere(wherever they decide to spend forever) staring off into the sunset as their children ride off seeking new adventures
Imagine being so badass you're buried with a fucking elder scroll while both claimants to the throne of Skyrim, the Jarl of Whiterun, the greatest military genius in Tamriel, and the last remaining blades, among others, mourning over your death together. I think this should be the canon way the dragonborn dies. I never liked the wishy washy endings of the other ones, and I think this would be a good way to keep the race, alignment and gender ambiguous while still having a good end. They could even leave it somewhat uncertain, with the grave never being opened, the body, armor and weapons of the Last Dragonborn never shown to the world. It could even be a quest related to the Elder Scrolls in a later game, visiting the tomb of the Last Dragonborn, maybe enshrined with a small temple to Akatosh and pilgrims from across Skyrim and Cyrodiil paying their respects. A lighthouse and a sanctum atop a lonely outcrop in the sea of ghosts, pilgrims with torches and solemn faces lining the arduous walk, reading the steps of the Dragonborn's journey from their crossing from Cyrodiil to their honorable death. And there a solemn red banner of Akatosh flies above the Shrine of the Last Dragonborn, a Knight of the Divines watching the sea in a lonely vigil. It'd be a very interesting and stirring scene, especially compared to the ways you come across the elder scrolls in other games. "Here lies the savior of us all, champion of Akatosh, a symbol for all Tamriel," it would say, "may the Last Dragonborn rest easy knowing that Mundus yet lives."
death of dragonborn will be really fun and complicated since normally people die and go to their respective realm whom they have made deals with but the dragonborn has had deals with so many thats who knows who will claim his soul or maybe all the princes will have a battle over who claims his soul while the dragonborn watches sipping some mead
Imagine being the champion of every daedric price in all the days of his life, the rest of the world probably sub standard compared to him. A testament of how precious his soul is.

The writers at Bethesda are explicitly forbidden to canonize stuff like the name, gender, and race of the player characters, so as to not cheapen the player's experience playing the game.

Had a character that lived for 50 years or so (in game years) that I played on and off for about 6 years when the game first came out, I retired that character and saved the game data on a usb years ago and I found that usb a week ago while cleaning up some stuff man the nostalgia hit me pretty hard because I thought I had lost the usb. Old friends have a way of finding their way back to you.
Buy a 3d printer. Print a pedestal for the USB stick. Paint it in colors you see fit and place it somewhere in your house. (Might sound insane but it will be worth it)

Inigo sighs as he rests his hand on the casket, the flurry of snow casting a light blanket over the pine box and tinting his greying fur white. The old cat can’t help but smile thinking back to old times; being released from the cell, watching him take down a dragon for the first time, the long nights spent around a campfire, the short ones spent in a tavern. He swipes away at a tear and turns to the onlookers, his express one laced with melancholy. “We are gathered today to celebrate the life and death of the Last Dragonborn.” He glances back at the casket. “He had many titles. Dovahkiin. Qahnaarin. Vanquisher of the World Eater. Savior of the Sun. Protector of the Elder Scrolls. Collector of Artifacts. Harbinger of Peace. Soldier. Husband. Father. Brother. Hero. But I think his favorite of these titles, was Friend.” Inigo smiles softly at who all was left of the old group. How their numbers dwindled with time. He closes his eyes and sends his friend off with a prayer before slowly taking his hand away. He turns to the crowd once more and raises his voice, it now booming with equal parts volume and pride. “Do not fret for the life he has lost, remember him for the life he breathed into others. A feast awaits you, old friend. Best not to keep the gods waiting.”
After the funeral, Lucien Flavius returns to Dumzbthar to continue his studies. But once there is nothing left in the ruin to examine and record, he packs up, and takes the next boat back to Skyrim, and makes his way back to the Imperial City. His home, quaint as it is compared to the beauty of what he has seen on his travels with the Dragonborn, is still home. His parents welcome him back with open arms, and ask him much about his adventures. Tales of Dragons, Vampires, Undead, Dwemer, Apocrypha, and so much more. He answers the best he can, but excuses himself to his study. There, he sits down at his desk, and looks down on a blank book. He looks at the Resonance Sphere next to him, and smiles sadly. Its pair was with his friend still. Forever. A tear rolls down his cheek as he grabs his quill from the ink pot. He thinks for a moment, and comes up with a title: “The Dragonborn: A hero. A mentor. A friend…”

If you don’t mind I’m gonna continue the trend of custom characters “aftermath” with two of my favorites, Xelzas(forgot if that’s the right way to spell it) and Kaidan Xelzas was more distraught than he previously believed he would be, perhaps it was the fact he was not there at the time of his death, and was only told when Inigo returned, throwing his bow to the ground in a fit of rage Xelzas thought Inigo was immune to, and went to his room, slamming the door shut. Coming in behind him, Serana aimlessly walked towards the fireplace to sit, her eyes seemingly glued open in a n expression only seen in the house Molag Bal was discovered in, Xelzas was chilled to the bone and was struck in pure terror as he viewed it. Lucien stood behind her, as she began to weep uncontrollably, he comforted her by humming a tune, as he joined her in sobbing. Before he uttered a word, Kaidan carried the bleeding corpse of his friend into the home. In an instant, Xelzas shoved everything off of the table he was just dining at, and took the corpse off of the unresponsive titan bladesman, who did not react at all. He laid it on the table and stormed into the alchemy room, grabbing any potion within reach, as well as any medical tools. He attempted for 3 hours to bring his dead friend back, refusing to accept what was in front of him, all while Kaidan stood completely still, with an unblinking stare. Finally, Kaidan grabbed Xelzas by the arm, without saying anything. Xelzas looked towards him, and Kaidan stared with a somber expression, not letting him go.

Not too long after the dragonborn is finally laid to rest. Paarthurnax, Odaving, and Duurnavir all meet at the summit of high hrothgar. They silently look at one another for a moment, then down at his grave. Suddenly, they let loose a series of powerful thu'ums, thundering into the sky. A mournful cry, and a final farewell, their way of honoring a true friend and fellow dovah. The dragonborn, after having been gladly welcomed into sovengarde and sharing in the feasting, stories, and songs, takes a moment to step outside the great hall. A cool breeze blowing on his face as he suddenly hears a series of thunderous voices ringing out across the realm. He stoped and listened, then smiled. He gave one mighty shout in return, silently nodded his head, then stepped back inside once more.
If they ever made Skyrim into a film or series, this is how they would end it, one final “Fus Ro Doh” louder and stronger than all the others in said film/series
The Last Dragonborn stares out into the distance but we don't see what has captured his gaze. He pauses for a moment before finally drawing his blade. We see a fire burning in his eyes. The Dragonborn exudes a sense of confidence ready for battle as he always has but slowly deep down he begins to feel something else. He begins to recall a life that has been filled with danger and peril, a life where he has had to hold back the world's destruction not once not twice but three fold. After being at the mercy of the executioner at helgen, after slaying the world eater, Alduin. After destroying the most powerful Vampire Lord in history. And after engaging in the ultimate battle of the thuum against The First Dragonborn in the realm of the deadric prince, Hermaeus Mora. It's only now in this moment that the dragonborn wonders why he feels such uncertainty in his power. A knot has formed in the dragonborn's belly, where once there was a raging inferno there was now a calm flame. As if trying to preserve itself and not burnout. A sense of looming dread began to take hold of The Last Dragonborn. The dragonborn takes a long look around him and sees a battlefield spilled with the blood of imperials and stormcloaks. But the scent of iron wasn't the only thing lingering in the air. The smell of burnt meat was also abound. The air was cold and hot at the same time as if two different climates were coexisting. The surrounding trees that once stood strong and unyielding were burned, frozen and scorched with the marks of lighting striking them repeatedly. An impossibility under normal circumstances. However among all these impossible inconsistencies there was one constant that united all these fallen men that lay before the dragonborn. They had all perished facing towards the same direction. It had been storming throughout this entire battle. Rain still falling even now as the dragonborn takes note of everything. Not a single muddied footstep could be seen going the opposite direction. All signs pointed to these men leading a full on assault against a common enemy. Among this sea of blood and corpses the dragonborn begins to hear something. Although the breathing was faint and muffled by the sounds of heavy rain and thunder the dragonborn's keen senses allow him to hear two men barely clinging to life and begins searching until he finds them. These two men were General Tulius and Ulfric Stormcloak. They were heavily injured, their bodies ravaged by the elements and on the brink of death. The dragonborn acts quickly and begins casting grand healing on both Tulius and Ulfric.The dragon born is able to heal most of the grave injuries they sustained but they are still barely able to speak. It wasn't just because of their injuries though. The trauma of seeing their men slaughtered like they were nothing and the incredible power they just witnessed had left them in such shock and disbelief that they were only able to mumble out a few words each. The Last Dragonborn looked at these two prideful, brave and headstrong men with deep worry and wondered what could have unnerved these men to such a degree. Ulfric was first to speak. "Thalmor too powerful...they-" he loses consciousness. Tulius spoke next "The Brass Tower...they control it." The Dragonborn's eyes widen and then they relax. "Rest now" says The Dragonborn. Tulius begins to close his eyes. After seeing the sacrifice these ordinary men made and the bravery they displayed facing down such an insurmountable foe, the dragonborn's resolve was bolstered and the calm flame that resided in his belly grew into a raging inferno once again. He was filled with a sense of duty and determination now. He would ensure the sacrifice these men made was not in vain even if it cost him everything. We finally see what The Last Dragonborn was looking at in the beginning. Off in the distance so far away that even a mountain seemed small, the clouds began to break as if being violently torn apart. Large bronze hands could be seen. They begin to grip the mountain sides and crumbled them with ease the sound of the creatures footsteps could be heard even miles away. The Dragonborn was so fixated on the behemoth he hadn't noticed the large army of Thalmor that was approaching. Blades, magic, arrows and dwemer technology was all being used against him now. The dragonborn raced ahead using whirlwind sprint going far beyond where the slain men lay until he saw them no more and now he was only about a mile from the thalmor army and soon the Bronze God would arrive. The Dragonborn's heart begins to beat louder than the roar of thunder and it echoes across the land. The dragonborn begins to feel a sense of familiarity and quickly realizes it's responding to something within the Bronze God. He doesn't know what it is but now he absolutely is not turning back. He must uncover it's mysteries and defeat the Thalmor. The dragonborn inhales deeply then shouts at the heavens using clear skies to stop the downpour in it's tracks. Then as the last cloud clears and the sun begins to peak, the dragonborn sheathes his mighty dragonbone sword and starts reaching for his back. He draws forth a beautiful silver bow that shined as bright as the sun along with it he drew an arrow equally as bright and elegant as the bow and fired it directly at the sun. Only moments later the sun reacted to this act and began raining another storm, a storm of blindingly powerful sunrays began to shower the field that the large army of Thalmor were inhabiting. The impact of those sun rays reaching mundus at such ludicrous speed caused shining explosions that were as deadly as they were beautiful. The world shook with each strike, the ground melting and breaking at once. The Thalmor were no fools though and the army of mages quickly began to cast a ward so powerful and vast it completely shielded their forces, repelling the power of the sun. The Dragonborn's final battle was upon him and his enemy came prepared. Hours later Tulius and Ulfric awaken they would only have a moment to take in the view before them before a massive blinding light would seemingly engulf all of mundus and the world shook again from the forests of cyrodil to the frozen tundras of skyrim all the way to the sands of hammerfell. This was a world event that everyone took notice of. After the light dissipated and the rumbling stopped Tulius and Ulfric began to walk. A battlefield with deformed land filled with craters, thousands of arrows scattered all over, a crack on the face of the planet that seemed to span for miles creating a chasm of sorts, hundred's of thousands of dead thalmor were laid across the land all seemed to have perished by too many different causes of death to count. Finally after hours of walking they found what they were looking for. The Dragonborn lay lifeless before them facing away as if he was looking at something. A few hundred feet away they could see the Bronze Tower firmly embedded into a large mountain side laying completely still as if it's power source was missing. When the two men went to turn over the dragonborn they were both shocked to find that it wasn't the dragonborn laying in front of them but merely his empty armor that he once wore. All his belongings remained as well including his elder scroll. The Last Dragonborn had seemingly vanished in the blinding flash of light that happened hours ago and was never seen again.
Feel bad for Serana. She had found someone who actually cares for her respects her opinion not after her blood or locked her in her sleep for who knows how many years, but that someone has died Then they all were walking back to their home until they hear a wierd "Ughhh" sound and saw that Serana's AI has kicked in and raised DB as an undead
That's a dark ending if you think of the Implications. An immortal daughter of coldharbour alone in a world that either wants her dead or to use her for evil. Having lost her only true friend she thralls them to never be alone 😳

@nerd Considering the Dragonborn's soul remains immortal but his body isn't, similar to a dragon, wouldnt a revived Dragonborn *become* fully sentient? Dragon's who are revived by Alduin all become normal and aware, unlike any other zombies. Same with Durnevheiirr. I think if someone used raise undead on the Dragonborn, considering his soul is probably tethered to his body still, he would probably be the same as before.

I think Serena really loves the dragonborn for what he did for her. But her past traumas are too heavy of a burden and simply dont allow her to go through with what she wants.
@@muthafoca9409 actually you are right, there is the mod called Serena Dialogue that follow the original script that was meant for her, basically you could start a romance with her in the original idea, in the end it was removed but this mod permit you to play it, tho the Serena Va is diffrent. In that script she actually would express that feeling to the dragonborn.

I think that Serena in Elder Scrolls lore is the only one who really understood the isolation, sacrifice, and duty the Dragonborn had taken upon themselves. Someone unsure of who they are, suddenly having a prophecy thrust upon them and forced to act immediately. They're called to kill their family, and all of their people in order to save themselves and the entirety of Nirn. I just hope that the Dragonborn is given a solution to their aging or at least returns to care for her again.
@@starhammer5247 I think that he could definitely be ageless because of the dragon souls but I think the way that a ton of primordial characters and gods talk to you indicates that you are still very mortal to them. I know that the lore tends to make the Dragonborn seem like an unstoppable badass but it doesn't really seem like any Dragonborn is unkillable.
@@xanosghoul Well technically, he is immortal, but in the aspect of he can't die from age. Him having a dragon soul and all, he can't really die from the winds of time. He can, however, be killed from just a general fight, like dragons. But with the amount of cheese wheels the Dovahkiin would have at any given moment, I doubt they'd die.

@@trissi4468 Considering he's the chosen of a Divine, a Daedric Prince if he's an Orc or Dunmer, 3-5 if he did all the questlines (Hircine for Companions, Molag Bal for Vampires, Nocturnal for Thieves Guild, and Herma Mora for Dragonborn), potentially one of the long-lived races, even longer lived if he's a mage (for reference, the so far oldest mage in Tamriel was 4000 by the time one encounters him in Morrowind (no word on whether he survived the Red Year, but he sure didn't seem like old age was gonna slow him down, so I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to survive...)) potentially immortal if he's a vampire...
Chances are *very* likely he's going to outlive any family he has.

While your body ages and withers you thum echoes through tamriel yet only a few can hear it, Parthurnax Durnnerveir and Odavhing where ever they be echo it throughout the plains where it be Mundas Atherireus or Oblivion

Parthuurnax would be the most likely to be able to echo it across Aetherius, as he is the most "spiritual" dragon there is, not to mention he's the brother of Alduin, who was the first born of Akatosh, a divine (who originates from Aetherius). Odahviing would echo it across Mundus, as out of the three listed, he's the most "normal" dragon. Durnehviir would echo it across Oblivion, as he is tied to the soul cairn, of which is a plane of oblivion.

This reminds me of the very last big playthrough I did in Skyrim. My character was a real hero--saved Skyrim, defeated Harkon, killed Miraak, destroyed the dark brotherhood, the whole nine yards. But during the boss fight with Harkon, he was infected with vampirism just before he struck Harkon down. In my head canon, it was like a final act of spite, a final curse before being slain. My character struggled with his vampirism for the rest of the game, even as he went on to do many great deeds, hiding his secret shame from the people he fought to protect, knowing they'd turn on him if they knew. His craving for blood tormented him constantly, turning even his moments of greatest triumph to ashes in his mouth. I used the better vampires mod to make sunlight lethal to him, so he could not even feel its warmth against his skin.
Then, one day, as he stood in a cave to hide from an imminent dawn, I realized something. His work was done. All the great enemies had been defeated, the civil war was over. Skyrim was at peace, stable, and strong.
So my character removed his helm and let it fall to the ground, followed by his gauntlets. He unbuckled his sword and unsheathed it, glancing at the blade that laid so many foes in the graves, and let it fall to the earth as well. I like to think a moment of absolute peace came over him
And then he walked, smiling, into the dawn. He was still smiling when the first rays of daylight turned him to ash.

Then you have to fight all of the heroes of Sovngarde who rise to defend the tomb and the dragons whose souls the Dovahkiin has absorbed. And then you have to get the Dragonborn's permission to take the scroll.

This gives me an Idea for The Elder Scrolls 6: A few hundred years later, Serana is still around and tasks the new protagonist with finishing what the Dragonborn tried to start when he died. This could also become kind of a mystery element, because Serana could be distrustful of you at first, and over the course of the main storyline she starts to trust you, so she slowly reveals to you what happened, and what big menace managed to kill the Dovahkiin.

There's something about Serana that just makes it more gut-wrenching. The Dragonborn was a valuable friend, ally, and student to everyone that knew them. But even if their relationship was never anything other than platonic, Serana and the Dragonborn meant more to each other than anyone else in their lives.
The Dragonborn showed Serana that there was more to life than being a pawn in her parent's games, and though a life filled exploring the world and slaying all manner of monsters is a dangerous life, it is one worth living still.
And in Serana, the Dragonborn finds something more than just a friend, but an equal. Serana is someone the Dragonborn could feel true kinsmenship with, and an inspiration to never become just another Miraak.

Legends tell of an extraordinary warrior. A Dragonborn, master of spells, steel and stealth. It is said that they slew Alduin the World-Eater, Miraak the Abyss Dragonborn and Harkon the Vampire Lord. But for all their feats in battle, people said they were a kind and just soul, uniting Skyrim during a time of great turmoil, befriending Imperials, Stormcloaks, werewolves and vampires alike. I’ve even heard that they have traversed Sovngarde and drank with the heroes of old while still living. It’s hard to be sure, but rumor has it that the legendary Dragonborn is buried at the peak of the Throat of the World, along with the sacred Elder Scroll, guarded by the Greybeards and the old dragon Paarthurnax, so no evil should lay their hands on the Scroll again.
P.S. In my headcanon, if a challenger arrives, the Dragonborn’s armor, possessed by their soul, rises to battle them and prove that they are worthy to wield the Elder Scroll.
And if the challenger wins they will be pissed that it’s a quest item

What if in another version the dragonborn has saved Nirn from utter destruction countless times over the course of their lives, and has even had children(who also have the Thu'um) and has been able to pass on their legacy to the next generation of Dragonborns, and it ends with the dragonborn standing at their house somewhere(wherever they decide to spend forever) staring off into the sunset as their children ride off seeking new adventures

Imagine being so badass you're buried with a fucking elder scroll while both claimants to the throne of Skyrim, the Jarl of Whiterun, the greatest military genius in Tamriel, and the last remaining blades, among others, mourning over your death together. I think this should be the canon way the dragonborn dies. I never liked the wishy washy endings of the other ones, and I think this would be a good way to keep the race, alignment and gender ambiguous while still having a good end. They could even leave it somewhat uncertain, with the grave never being opened, the body, armor and weapons of the Last Dragonborn never shown to the world.
It could even be a quest related to the Elder Scrolls in a later game, visiting the tomb of the Last Dragonborn, maybe enshrined with a small temple to Akatosh and pilgrims from across Skyrim and Cyrodiil paying their respects. A lighthouse and a sanctum atop a lonely outcrop in the sea of ghosts, pilgrims with torches and solemn faces lining the arduous walk, reading the steps of the Dragonborn's journey from their crossing from Cyrodiil to their honorable death. And there a solemn red banner of Akatosh flies above the Shrine of the Last Dragonborn, a Knight of the Divines watching the sea in a lonely vigil. It'd be a very interesting and stirring scene, especially compared to the ways you come across the elder scrolls in other games. "Here lies the savior of us all, champion of Akatosh, a symbol for all Tamriel," it would say, "may the Last Dragonborn rest easy knowing that Mundus yet lives."

This means that that grave, if undisturbed, will be marked to the end of Nirn Itself.
Empires fall, species go extinct, world's end...
But the Dragon Born shall always be remembered, for better or worse.
Except elder scrolls have a habit of disappearing on their own, so eventually it'll be just vanish and appear somewhere else.
It wouldn't be the first or last time Nirn ended. Nor would it be the first or last Shezarrine...

Had a character that lived for 50 years or so (in game years) that I played on and off for about 6 years when the game first came out, I retired that character and saved the game data on a usb years ago and I found that usb a week ago while cleaning up some stuff man the nostalgia hit me pretty hard because I thought I had lost the usb. Old friends have a way of finding their way back to you.
Buy a 3d printer.
Print a pedestal for the USB stick.
Paint it in colors you see fit and place it somewhere in your house.
(Might sound insane but it will be worth it)

Inigo sighs as he rests his hand on the casket, the flurry of snow casting a light blanket over the pine box and tinting his greying fur white. The old cat can’t help but smile thinking back to old times; being released from the cell, watching him take down a dragon for the first time, the long nights spent around a campfire, the short ones spent in a tavern. He swipes away at a tear and turns to the onlookers, his express one laced with melancholy.
“We are gathered today to celebrate the life and death of the Last Dragonborn.”
He glances back at the casket.
“He had many titles.
Dovahkiin.
Qahnaarin.
Vanquisher of the World Eater.
Savior of the Sun.
Protector of the Elder Scrolls.
Collector of Artifacts.
Harbinger of Peace.
Soldier.
Husband.
Father.
Brother.
Hero.
But I think his favorite of these titles,
was Friend.”
Inigo smiles softly at who all was left of the old group. How their numbers dwindled with time. He closes his eyes and sends his friend off with a prayer before slowly taking his hand away. He turns to the crowd once more and raises his voice, it now booming with equal parts volume and pride.
“Do not fret for the life he has lost, remember him for the life he breathed into others. A feast awaits you, old friend. Best not to keep the gods waiting.”
After the funeral, Lucien Flavius returns to Dumzbthar to continue his studies. But once there is nothing left in the ruin to examine and record, he packs up, and takes the next boat back to Skyrim, and makes his way back to the Imperial City.
His home, quaint as it is compared to the beauty of what he has seen on his travels with the Dragonborn, is still home. His parents welcome him back with open arms, and ask him much about his adventures. Tales of Dragons, Vampires, Undead, Dwemer, Apocrypha, and so much more. He answers the best he can, but excuses himself to his study.
There, he sits down at his desk, and looks down on a blank book. He looks at the Resonance Sphere next to him, and smiles sadly. Its pair was with his friend still. Forever. A tear rolls down his cheek as he grabs his quill from the ink pot. He thinks for a moment, and comes up with a title:
“The Dragonborn: A hero. A mentor. A friend…”

If you don’t mind I’m gonna continue the trend of custom characters “aftermath” with two of my favorites, Xelzas(forgot if that’s the right way to spell it) and Kaidan
Xelzas was more distraught than he previously believed he would be, perhaps it was the fact he was not there at the time of his death, and was only told when Inigo returned, throwing his bow to the ground in a fit of rage Xelzas thought Inigo was immune to, and went to his room, slamming the door shut. Coming in behind him, Serana aimlessly walked towards the fireplace to sit, her eyes seemingly glued open in a n expression only seen in the house Molag Bal was discovered in, Xelzas was chilled to the bone and was struck in pure terror as he viewed it. Lucien stood behind her, as she began to weep uncontrollably, he comforted her by humming a tune, as he joined her in sobbing.
Before he uttered a word, Kaidan carried the bleeding corpse of his friend into the home. In an instant, Xelzas shoved everything off of the table he was just dining at, and took the corpse off of the unresponsive titan bladesman, who did not react at all. He laid it on the table and stormed into the alchemy room, grabbing any potion within reach, as well as any medical tools. He attempted for 3 hours to bring his dead friend back, refusing to accept what was in front of him, all while Kaidan stood completely still, with an unblinking stare. Finally, Kaidan grabbed Xelzas by the arm, without saying anything. Xelzas looked towards him, and Kaidan stared with a somber expression, not letting him go.

They silently look at one another for a moment, then down at his grave. Suddenly, they let loose a series of powerful thu'ums, thundering into the sky. A mournful cry, and a final farewell, their way of honoring a true friend and fellow dovah.
The dragonborn, after having been gladly welcomed into sovengarde and sharing in the feasting, stories, and songs, takes a moment to step outside the great hall. A cool breeze blowing on his face as he suddenly hears a series of thunderous voices ringing out across the realm. He stoped and listened, then smiled. He gave one mighty shout in return, silently nodded his head, then stepped back inside once more.

The Last Dragonborn stares out into the distance but we don't see what has captured his gaze. He pauses for a moment before finally drawing his blade. We see a fire burning in his eyes. The Dragonborn exudes a sense of confidence ready for battle as he always has but slowly deep down he begins to feel something else. He begins to recall a life that has been filled with danger and peril, a life where he has had to hold back the world's destruction not once not twice but three fold. After being at the mercy of the executioner at helgen, after slaying the world eater, Alduin. After destroying the most powerful Vampire Lord in history. And after engaging in the ultimate battle of the thuum against The First Dragonborn in the realm of the deadric prince, Hermaeus Mora. It's only now in this moment that the dragonborn wonders why he feels such uncertainty in his power. A knot has formed in the dragonborn's belly, where once there was a raging inferno there was now a calm flame. As if trying to preserve itself and not burnout. A sense of looming dread began to take hold of The Last Dragonborn. The dragonborn takes a long look around him and sees a battlefield spilled with the blood of imperials and stormcloaks. But the scent of iron wasn't the only thing lingering in the air. The smell of burnt meat was also abound. The air was cold and hot at the same time as if two different climates were coexisting. The surrounding trees that once stood strong and unyielding were burned, frozen and scorched with the marks of lighting striking them repeatedly. An impossibility under normal circumstances. However among all these impossible inconsistencies there was one constant that united all these fallen men that lay before the dragonborn. They had all perished facing towards the same direction. It had been storming throughout this entire battle. Rain still falling even now as the dragonborn takes note of everything. Not a single muddied footstep could be seen going the opposite direction. All signs pointed to these men leading a full on assault against a common enemy. Among this sea of blood and corpses the dragonborn begins to hear something. Although the breathing was faint and muffled by the sounds of heavy rain and thunder the dragonborn's keen senses allow him to hear two men barely clinging to life and begins searching until he finds them. These two men were General Tulius and Ulfric Stormcloak. They were heavily injured, their bodies ravaged by the elements and on the brink of death. The dragonborn acts quickly and begins casting grand healing on both Tulius and Ulfric.The dragon born is able to heal most of the grave injuries they sustained but they are still barely able to speak. It wasn't just because of their injuries though. The trauma of seeing their men slaughtered like they were nothing and the incredible power they just witnessed had left them in such shock and disbelief that they were only able to mumble out a few words each. The Last Dragonborn looked at these two prideful, brave and headstrong men with deep worry and wondered what could have unnerved these men to such a degree. Ulfric was first to speak. "Thalmor too powerful...they-" he loses consciousness. Tulius spoke next "The Brass Tower...they control it." The Dragonborn's eyes widen and then they relax. "Rest now" says The Dragonborn. Tulius begins to close his eyes. After seeing the sacrifice these ordinary men made and the bravery they displayed facing down such an insurmountable foe, the dragonborn's resolve was bolstered and the calm flame that resided in his belly grew into a raging inferno once again. He was filled with a sense of duty and determination now. He would ensure the sacrifice these men made was not in vain even if it cost him everything. We finally see what The Last Dragonborn was looking at in the beginning. Off in the distance so far away that even a mountain seemed small, the clouds began to break as if being violently torn apart. Large bronze hands could be seen. They begin to grip the mountain sides and crumbled them with ease the sound of the creatures footsteps could be heard even miles away. The Dragonborn was so fixated on the behemoth he hadn't noticed the large army of Thalmor that was approaching. Blades, magic, arrows and dwemer technology was all being used against him now. The dragonborn raced ahead using whirlwind sprint going far beyond where the slain men lay until he saw them no more and now he was only about a mile from the thalmor army and soon the Bronze God would arrive. The Dragonborn's heart begins to beat louder than the roar of thunder and it echoes across the land. The dragonborn begins to feel a sense of familiarity and quickly realizes it's responding to something within the Bronze God. He doesn't know what it is but now he absolutely is not turning back. He must uncover it's mysteries and defeat the Thalmor. The dragonborn inhales deeply then shouts at the heavens using clear skies to stop the downpour in it's tracks. Then as the last cloud clears and the sun begins to peak, the dragonborn sheathes his mighty dragonbone sword and starts reaching for his back. He draws forth a beautiful silver bow that shined as bright as the sun along with it he drew an arrow equally as bright and elegant as the bow and fired it directly at the sun. Only moments later the sun reacted to this act and began raining another storm, a storm of blindingly powerful sunrays began to shower the field that the large army of Thalmor were inhabiting. The impact of those sun rays reaching mundus at such ludicrous speed caused shining explosions that were as deadly as they were beautiful. The world shook with each strike, the ground melting and breaking at once. The Thalmor were no fools though and the army of mages quickly began to cast a ward so powerful and vast it completely shielded their forces, repelling the power of the sun. The Dragonborn's final battle was upon him and his enemy came prepared. Hours later Tulius and Ulfric awaken they would only have a moment to take in the view before them before a massive blinding light would seemingly engulf all of mundus and the world shook again from the forests of cyrodil to the frozen tundras of skyrim all the way to the sands of hammerfell. This was a world event that everyone took notice of. After the light dissipated and the rumbling stopped Tulius and Ulfric began to walk. A battlefield with deformed land filled with craters, thousands of arrows scattered all over, a crack on the face of the planet that seemed to span for miles creating a chasm of sorts, hundred's of thousands of dead thalmor were laid across the land all seemed to have perished by too many different causes of death to count. Finally after hours of walking they found what they were looking for. The Dragonborn lay lifeless before them facing away as if he was looking at something. A few hundred feet away they could see the Bronze Tower firmly embedded into a large mountain side laying completely still as if it's power source was missing. When the two men went to turn over the dragonborn they were both shocked to find that it wasn't the dragonborn laying in front of them but merely his empty armor that he once wore. All his belongings remained as well including his elder scroll. The Last Dragonborn had seemingly vanished in the blinding flash of light that happened hours ago and was never seen again.

@nerd Considering the Dragonborn's soul remains immortal but his body isn't, similar to a dragon, wouldnt a revived Dragonborn *become* fully sentient?
Dragon's who are revived by Alduin all become normal and aware, unlike any other zombies. Same with Durnevheiirr. I think if someone used raise undead on the Dragonborn, considering his soul is probably tethered to his body still, he would probably be the same as before.

@@Bergen98 I honestly feel like at this point the dragonborn gets to choose his afterlife because he could be bound (depending on his choices) to either hircine, molag bal, hermaeus mora, Sithis, etc. So it'd be quite the tug of war

I think Serena really loves the dragonborn for what he did for her. But her past traumas are too heavy of a burden and simply dont allow her to go through with what she wants.
@@muthafoca9409 actually you are right, there is the mod called Serena Dialogue that follow the original script that was meant for her, basically you could start a romance with her in the original idea, in the end it was removed but this mod permit you to play it, tho the Serena Va is diffrent. In that script she actually would express that feeling to the dragonborn.

I think that Serena in Elder Scrolls lore is the only one who really understood the isolation, sacrifice, and duty the Dragonborn had taken upon themselves. Someone unsure of who they are, suddenly having a prophecy thrust upon them and forced to act immediately. They're called to kill their family, and all of their people in order to save themselves and the entirety of Nirn. I just hope that the Dragonborn is given a solution to their aging or at least returns to care for her again.
There's a few fan canons going around that the Dragonborn would be immortal thanks to the amount of dragon souls consumed.
@@starhammer5247 I think that he could definitely be ageless because of the dragon souls but I think the way that a ton of primordial characters and gods talk to you indicates that you are still very mortal to them. I know that the lore tends to make the Dragonborn seem like an unstoppable badass but it doesn't really seem like any Dragonborn is unkillable.

@@xanosghoul Well technically, he is immortal, but in the aspect of he can't die from age. Him having a dragon soul and all, he can't really die from the winds of time. He can, however, be killed from just a general fight, like dragons.
But with the amount of cheese wheels the Dovahkiin would have at any given moment, I doubt they'd die.
