    Great move.
    I never had limits on my leases.
    -"Free" had tags every 30 seconds. Recently, I allowed limited commercial use.
    -"Basic" is mp3. Only for streaming.
    -"Premium" is wav. For physical sells and radio. Stuff that requires higher quality audio.
    -"Ultimate" is tracked out. For people who need to use the beat for syncing.
    But check this. All beats are non-exclusive. And the basic & premium lease still includes 1 tag in the beginning of the beat.
    I had a similar thinking approach as you. Removing the friction. My reason for leaving the one tag in the basic and premium lease was to offer them at lower prices while having a reason to still purchase the next level lease based more on the need & experience of the artist, not the limitations or metrics neither of us are keeping track of.
    I am very interested in your follow up videos.
    Keep pumpin' the content, homie.

    I've been selling my beats with only unlimited licenses for about 2 - 3 years for the exact same reasons you do. It unquestionably creates less friction for the buyer; especially artists who are new to beat leasing.

    this what i been saying for a while noooooww... im actually thinking on just selling two types of leases: WAV Unlimited Leases and WAV + Stems Unlimited Leases. i mean that MP3 / WAV difference is bs too imo, nobody really can tell a difference. Dope vid luke!

      @@luke4pres one thing got me wondering tho, how do you go about free downloads on your beats? With or without tags?

  • @lufspill
    @lufspill 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seems logical, Iv'e been over complicating this for me and for others only because I thought this was the industry standard.
    But felt bit wrong doing so. Like you said, how the hell Im gonna know if someone is passed
    one of those limits or not? Creating pointless friction for both sides.
    Still want to rethink it, but overall I think you are right, and will probably switch to doing the same.
    Thank you!

    I agree with you on this to a point. I feel like making all your leases unlimited will price you out of selling any exclusives as well as losing future lease upgrading money. You would be surprised how many artists who write a song to ur basic lease would pay a discounted rate to upgrade to unlimited. I just feel like the best option is somewhere in between. Not unlimited but also not super low limits. Like 100k-500k streams and 1000-5000 unit sales on a basic lease is good because the artist knows they are just getting the most basic option and its still a lot of room to grow. if they get a song to 500k streams then it would be worth upgrading or even copping the exclusive anyways. You would probably make better money if you just created a pack of beats like 10-20 different top selling beats and charge a higher price for the pack like $100-$200 and the pack comes with unlimited rights rather then potentially lowering your lifetime customer value by offering cheaper unlimited on all your catalog. Def interested to see how this works out tho.

    • @sontwisted
      @sontwisted 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah any artist that thinks about this for a second will realize you cant track them so they dont need to upgrade anything plus 97% of artist dont sell 100 copies anyway. Artist that want exclusives are still going to buy them

    • @luke4pres
      @luke4pres  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've been selling beats online since 2018 and I can't think of a single artist who's upgraded their lease. I'd rather charge a premium up front than try to chase down the same people later to try and get them to upgrade their lease
