      @@WorldofThaiFood It's been a few years since I made it. It came ok. I think the flavors needed to be more balanced. You're not supposed to add Basil to this dish?

    • @WorldofThaiFood
      @WorldofThaiFood  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Norbert Demanuele No. No basil. Only mint in this dish.

    • @NDemanuele1
      @NDemanuele1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WorldofThaiFood That's what I thought. I didn't put it in. The balance of flavors wasn't quite right. I'll try it again. Kap kun kap!

    • @WorldofThaiFood
      @WorldofThaiFood  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Norbert Demanuele keep trying! You’ll get it right 🙏The solution for you may be to mix lime juice, fish sauce, sugar and chili powder in a bowl to test it first. Once you’re happy with the balance you can pour it over the dish. The lime is different each time and the same can apply to new types of fish sauce so this method can help avoid spoiling the dish.

    Wonderful recipe! I've been so hungry for some larb. I just returned from the store with pork and chicken so I can make some larb moo and larb gai this week. There was no sawtooth coriander at the market today but I did get some cilantro. I love the coconuts you have hanging behind you in the video. If you are the gardener I would love to see a video of your garden. I try to grown all my vegetables for Thai food. I have galangal, lemongrass, many types pepper, spring onions, and shallots. I would like to see if I can grow some of those little Thai eggplants this year. Thanks for sharing !!!

      Will Dougherty thank you for your kind words and I’m really glad to hear that you like my recipe video and will cook my Larb. Please do let me know how it came out 🙏 As for the orchids in the coconuts - yes I did plant them. We take great pride in our plants and are in fact planning to open a commercial organic herbal plantation. Currently we have a very local style garden and I’d love to show it in a video and talk more about local herbs and plants as soon as the covid emergency state allows me to travel between provinces again. Have a spicy day 🙏🌶

      @@WorldofThaiFood Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I'll look forward to the video from the garden. I too and everyone else is experiencing some travel ban which is why I wasn't able to get the culantro this morning. I was intending to visit/move to Thailand before the King changed the Visa programs. What province do you live in? I was interested in the Isaan region. I'll have to try and get some coconut hulls and orchids for my Mom I think she would enjoy them! Thanks again, Will

    I had a friend make this for me a couple times but never knew the name of the dish. I absolutely loved it. He would boil cabbage leaves just long enough to make them pliable and we would use that as a sort of spring roll. Very tasty!

    What‘s the difference between Larb Lao and Larb Thai???

    • @WorldofThaiFood
      @WorldofThaiFood  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know the main differences are that they use fermented fish sauce and young galangal in Laos. The lime juice is sometimes omitted to emphasize the saltiness of the fermented sauce. Any Laos fans in here please feel free to add to the conversation. Thanks! 🙏
