  • How To Make Pad Thai with Prawns | Authentic Thai Food | Family Recipe #1
Amy from World of Thai Food present how to make a delicious Pad Thai recipe that has been passed down in her Thai family over generations. This is authentic Thai home cooking at its best and easiest.
We began uploading our first series of Thai Family Recipe on the 16th of June 2017 and this is our first published video. You can expect many more to come over the next weeks as we complete post production of our content.
Our website will go live soon and at that point we will add the links to it here - that's where you will find our recipes. In the meantime we will publish the recipe below just in case some of you might want to try it out!

Recipe: Pad Thai (or, stir-fried rice noodles) with Prawns
Preparation: 15 minutes (not including noodle soaking time)
    Cooking time: 15-20 minutes
    Serves: 3-4
    Dried rice noodles 250 g
    Fish sauce 3 tbsp
    Palm sugar 3 tbsp
    Lime juice 1 tbsp
    Tamarind puree 2 tbsp
    Cooking oil 3 tbsp
    Finely chopped shallot 2 tbsp
    Finely chopped garlic 1 tbsp
Finely chopped sweet pickled radish* 2 tbsp
    Dried shrimp ½ cup
Fresh firm tofu 50 g cut into 1-cm cubes
Prawns 300 g peeled and deveined, tails intact
Hot water (for soaking the noodles and adding to the noodles while cooking)
Been sprouts 1 cup (plus ½ cup for serving)
Chinese chives 20 g cut into 1 ½ inches (option: spring onion)
Unsalted roasted peanut 30 g crushed
    2 Eggs
    Dried Chili flakes 1- 1 ½ tbsp
Lime wedges and Chinese chives, or spring onion, for garnish
    1 tbsp White granulated sugar
Note: For a Vegetarian Pad Thai - simply leave out the dried shrimp and substitute prawns with additional tofu and more garnish
To serve: Add the Pad Thai to individual plates. Garnish with a wedge of lime, a stalk of chive and last but not least, 1-tsp white sugar and 1-tsp of dried chili flakes.

I am from the UK and have been to Thailand on many occasions and fell in love with Thai food especially Pad Thai and Thai fried rice with prawns as well as many other dishes but for some time it was difficult buying authentic ingredients where I live in the North West of England but now we have a local Thai food store close to my home where I am hoping to buy what I need and start trying your recipes, especially this one. Great video.

I cook Thai food all of the time but you should do an episode on sauces... I think that intimidates people.... They don't know there are 3 different soy sauces not including seasoning sauce, healthy boy brand etc

Hi again and thank you for your suggestion. It's a good idea and I have actually been planning a sauce special for some time but haven't gotten around to it. Will start writing it right away.

Could you explain why you serve sugar on the side?

    • @WorldofThaiFood
      @WorldofThaiFood  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi! Thank you for engaging with our post. Here in Thailand sugar, chili and lime are often served on the side of Pad Thai and other noodle dishes so that you can adjust the taste to your preference, on your plate.

That's wonderful news! If you're into table seasoning, make sure to check out our condiment and sauces series. For now we've uploaded Prik Nam Pla, a table condiment which I'm sure you're familiar with already, and our Thai BBQ dipping sauce. More good stuff on the way :)
