I don't understand. I'm following these steps exactly, but the rotate function still won't work. Maybe these instructions are outdated, but they just don't seem to pertain to Photoshop 2024. There used to be a much simpler way to rotate cloned stamped images anyway. I was able to just right click, and adjust the orientation of cloned image, but that doesn't seem to work anymore either.
Yes, Yes, Yes! I have tried to find someone who will explain the clone flip & I couldn't find it anywhere- I finally stumbled upon you- so glad I did. 5 hrs. been looking for how to flip my crab claw to match the other side. Whew. Your the bomb @ 4:30 a.m. Yes sir- I'm sub' in you.
Now we can just use generative fill, it works really nice. Or the remove tool works great on hair. But sometimes we still need to be able to rotate this clone brush. Thank you!
I have been using PS for 5 weeks and still keep thinking that I can change brush size simply by scrolling my mouse wheel. If someone makes a plugin that does it, I will buy it immediately!!
For those who can't find any working shortcuts on non-US keyboards (MAC): try try changing the OSX keyboard language temporarily in the menu bar. You need first to activate keyboard language switching under System preferences>Keyboard, adding US keyboard language from the plus button (if not installed). Then, from the OSX menu bar, change from your language to US. On Italian Keyboard the rotation shortcuts are SHIFT + OPTION + COMMA/POINT keys. On other international keyboards you have to search for the working keys. Maybe something similar will work even on Windows. I do it often to activate also other shortcuts that don't work. Hope it helps
So you have to change to english keyboard everytime you need to use that shortcut? Is there a way to change it on your main keyboard? I use spanish and it doesn't work. Neither Option + Shift + nor Option + Shift + AS nor Option + Shift + Comma/Point
This is useful because i have always wanted to know how to do this i just didn't remember to look it up because been learning photoshop on TH-cam for a couple of years but thanks to you
thanks for the tutorial but just a constructive comment, this video can be shortened because most of us are just looking for art-shift part. or you can add in bookmarks so its easier to navigate.
Really nice video. Do you know if there is a keyboard shortcut to reset the angle back to zero? The keyboard shortcut to adjust the angles are very helpful, but having to go back to the menu to reset it is not. Also, it looks like you have some kind of tool showing the hardness/softness of your brush with concentric circles. How did you do that? I have been trying to figure that out for a while. RAW, Lightroom and Capture One can all do it, but i cannot figure it out in Photoshop.
Not that I know of. What you can do is send it to photoshop use the clone stamp and hit save. It will automatically save it back in Lightroom and you can continue working in LR.
every time I choose a target, I lose the target as soon as use the stamp, does anybody know how to fix this, it was ok before but now when I try to use the same stamp multiple time I have to keep going back and stamp the target again, im using a Mac.
Well, thanks a lot but I don't know how to rotate the clone tool to the other side and I already pressed all the keys available. I pressed (Opt + Shift + < ) and it works but I can't do it with (Alt + Shift + >) I already pressed "fn" too, What I'm doing wrong? Thanks anyway! I have a Mac Keyboard.
Yaaaaaah adobe made doing this way way way more difficult than it needed to be. And honestly looking at how slow it is rotating, it is easier to just manually type in the angle. This is an inconvenience not a convenience. Adobe, come on :)! Thnx for the video still though John!
Yep, videos are difficult to make for everyone. Some people want everything and some just want it short and quick. I tried to do quick tips, but they were not popular. Probably because the algorithm wants long videos.
@@Jcwphoto Thanks for your answer. I just found it : it's Shift+Alt+ç or Shift+Alt+à. It's totally uneasy to handle as these keys are quite far away on the keyboard. The real problem is that one cannot edit these shortcuts in PS shortcut menu, it simply doesn't exist ! One more forgotten UX/UI thing from Adobe...
Sir! With all due respect, your video is firstly, very blurry. and you are talking at jet-speed without explaining where to find what function. How do I set the brush size? How do I paste? etc etc. It was waste of time watching your video. Hope you also realize it after only 18K views. I hope you'd do better next time.
Complete useless tutorial... It looks so easy. However, if you don't have the window with all the parameters open... it is impossible to do any of this. I spent over 20 minutes trying to get the window open, then gave up.
@@Jcwphoto Thanks for the link. But, not really. I just wasted another 30 minutes. AGAIN... It looks SO EASY, almost TOO EASY. However, if you do not have the window with all the parameters... IT IS IMPOSSIBLE.
You have to click on the top tab that says Window then go down to clone source. That’s how he got that tab opened. I wish he explained that step on the video but he didn’t. I had to Google how to open that tab that he already had opened LOL
Rotate clone stamp is 4:37 for those who need.

Yes, even with the new fancy tools I still continually use that clone stamp brush. It’s really helpful in certain situations.
Does Opt stand for alt option on iMac computer keyboard??
Yes. Really it is option on a mac and alt on a pc.
John , I never knew... now I do. Thanks soo much!! 💯
This is the best explanation ever seen.
So kind, thanks so much
Thanks, this tutorial was really helpful.
This is so helpful - thank you!!!
Would be great if that was linked with the mouse wheel or something related to the wacom pen to drag “left and right” for a smooth and fast rotation.
I agree you can probably make a custom toggle on a wacom

Thank you so much, for my keyboard (IT) the rotation works whit "alt"+"maiusc"+"à" and "alt"+"maiusc"+"+" (the key near invio)
Glad it helped!
can anyone help? (MAC) alt+shift+> just changes my tools to the next one. I already checked keybord shortcuts under edit...
That should work. Hold it down and it move real slow. Otherwise bring up the window. Window/clone source.
How do I access the clone stamp panel?
All panels are under Window
Whe i press option, shift and . it chooses all layers. nothing rotates. what's wrong?
It moves real slow be patient
For some reason when I press Alt+Shift >
Check an adobe quick key chart. I have only used macs for 30 years, sometimes PC quick keys are different.

hello would you please tell me why i can not rotate Clone stamp, i pressed option+shift .
Mac or pc if pc try alt/shift. It might be a different quick key.
my clone stamp doesn't have that option, why is ps so user unfriendly.

@@yannphilippe5829 you can make custom shortcuts in photoshop
Maybe instead of changing it just make a new one. Not sure if it is possible. I can try when i get home
You could save it as an action and give it a quick key that way if it is something you will use a lot.

8 minutes for a shortcut. That's called milking the viewer. BM
