tbh this is a "weak" start, coming from people who played GFL. The story, although has some good moment, is quite dull and shallow at time. Not saying it is bad, imo I really like it especially the ending and epilogue, but I would say let them cook, because the best if yet to come
I just discovered how the dusty journals are super important background lore. been going through them bit by bit. The sharkry, Veplay one almost made me cry D:
I could be wrong, but the power plant was not abandoned by humans due to ELIDS. From my understanding, the power plant's goal was to try and grow plants in the yellow zone. Hence all the agricultural equipment found there. The place was to be staffed entirely of dolls and security robots since it is in the yellow zone. However, after thousands of attempts, the humans decided to abandoned it, deciding growing plants in the yellow zone was impossible. Either the dolls were abandoned entirely, leaving them to decay until only the creepy doll remained, or most of the dolls were pulled out and a skeleton crew left behind the protect the place should experiments resume. As part of the abandoning, the plane was essentially sabotaged by having the cooling towers produce a green haze/smoke that essentially acted as an ELID magnet, which explains the heavy concentration of ELIDS at the power plant. Though since the doll community found a bunch of doll components, I tend to believe most of the dolls were pulled out and only a skeleton crew left behind. Despite the abandoning of the plant, the creepy doll continued to run its experiments. And it eventually succeeded in getting plants to grow. It was apart of the data in the disk the creepy doll had. With this new data, part of the doll's community's method of self sustainment was to grow and sell crops in the yellow zone, something that normally cant be done without specialized greenhouse equipment. On top of the large amount of doll parts and repair facilities in the power plant, they could remain here maybe not permanently, but for the near future and be able to reactivate some of not most of the damaged and hibernating dolls.
The agriculture is a pretty big part of the power plant's existence so this could be true. The event story isn't entirely up front with why the humans left the plant, but Epiphyllum has always been a thing even in GFL1, so I would be confused if the humans thought growing plants was impossible. This may be why I interpreted it differently.
@HeroMysticLYX i think the plants they are trying to grow are foodstuffs. AFIK ephylliyum basically lives off the collapse radiation? Normal plants dont. That's why in Chapter 7 when the elmo buys fruit from Saga. Its mentioned its grown in an underground greenhouse. I swear it is explicitly mentioned though that its whatever the cooling towers are emmiting that is attracting the ELIDS, and that its indirectly stated that it was caused when the plant was abandoned. Though idk how to review the event story now that it is locked, so i cant confirm.
@@HeroMysticLYX From what I am aware of, Epiphyllum is pretty unique when it comes to growing in the yellow zone. And while valuable, it isnt exactly edible. Meanwhile foodstuffs cant seem to grow at all in the yellow zone without being in a special environment. Hence why when you buy fruit from Saga in chapter 7 its specified to be grown in an underground green house. Impossible was probably the wrong word to use. But growing plants in the yellow zone was deemed not worth whatever money the humans had already invested, so they withdrew. Nice catch with Allen leaving the less desirable Dolls behind btw. I honestly took it at face value that bozo just got his ticket punched out in the red zone. Honestly I dont get how I didnt connect the dots sooner seeing as how he took everything of value except some agricultural stuff related to epiphyllum with him. Also, while this is a more personal theory of mine, I think its possible the creepy doll might have been a Gen 3 doll. My only real supporting evidence is her difficulty to take down. She tanked a point blank round to the face from KSVK. A 12.7 x 108mm round, and suffered a mere dent on its forehead. The only time we see dolls struggling to actually do damage to other dolls (at least in GFL2 that I am aware of) is Groza and company against sextant and darture. I feel that also explains why the creepy doll is in such a poor state of repair despite spare doll parts and doll repair pods being around. The stockpile of gen 3 parts simply ran out, and from Nemesis' dusty journal entries we know even SST-05A2 frames cant handle gen 3 tech with 100% efficiency.
@@HeroMysticLYX Humans most definitely knew plants could survive in the radiation zones but the challenge faced with agriculture in the radiation zones is normal crops would absolutely not survive without protection through greenhouses for example. Even if some crops would survive, it also raises the question of how the radiation might change the genetics of the plants to cause them to be inedible and gain harmful traits like Epiphyllum. The power plant's work seems to be directed at trying to plant seeds that could grow in such radiated soil that would not be heavily altered to allow the retaking of radiated zones. It's not like in RCCB where reverse collapse particles research has progressed a lot to the point humans can use them to counteract reverse collapse particles in radiated land slowly. However, the continuous failures to make any progress into this field most likely resulted in the humans to abandon this area to invest into other sectors of research. The setting of the game also takes place in the 2070s which is where collapse technology really started to shine with the URNC and Antarctic Union showcasing their work on the area and is probably where a lot of funds are going for research.
The big problem is the boojum a big ass archetype elid its control the whole army of elids it might attracted the pheromones emitted by the power plant

Thanks for the video, didn't had time to do the Event and the fact it closed even though it said it would last more 5/6 days screw me over. Kinda a shame I didnt played it myself, but this video was a nice summary
Suomi as a character basically embodies the "loyal dog, dead master" trope, but ngl I'm impressed by the writers to subvert the common ending of that trope in favor of a bittersweet, but ultimately tragic ending for Suomi, she'll (presumably) forever fight alongside Ullrid and her group talking about Commander this and that as if they'll meet again someday "soon", therefore resuming her vain optimism that she already spent a decade+ living after Griffin's downfall.
As a newcomer to GFL2, thanks for the recap! I missed this event because I was busy and just forgot about it 😂 (plus I wanted to focus on main story currently) Hopefully you'll do other recaps for GFL2!

Great summary vid! I completely forgot to read all the journals of the new dolls so thanks for going over them! Will admit that this story event was a bit boring overall tbh but was still overall decent in lore. The only thing that actually interested me though is the crop research in radiation zones :)
I think the doll community will join in commander in elmo they dont have choice plus the power plant infested by elids one way or another might be boojum might appear there
Possibly! However, the contract problems the commander has and the URNC current laws will complicate things for now it that aspect :d. They obviously still have the support of the commander if they ever get in trouble at least :)
@Aguywholikesplaguedoctors commander is wanted criminal in UNRC because of betrayal in Convolusional kernel incident so hes responsible to his tdoll if those griffin tdoll on his possession branded as criminal too sattlelite city they dont accept the obsolete tdolls like from 2nd Gen just like groza and and other griffin affiliated dolls, nemesis and krolik part of 3rd Gen tdolls
Do the players saying it was boring are newcomers? GFL1 is very text heavy and this was nothing out of normal. If anything it was absolute cinema with Ullrid being like Moses leading her people through the wasteland.
Coming from gf1 and RCCB, the storytelling was good but was a little boring for me on the topic of dollistan but that's most likely because I read about the 2085 Dolls Right Act doc in RCCB so was more like a supporting read for it to me. The writing on the topic of agriculture for me was my biggest interest as a lore guy and the neural logs of Creepy Doll definitely went hard for me. I agree with you however that it was quite peak cinema with Ullrid's operations with the ending operation and fight with Creepy Doll giving me flashbacks to Operation Avernus in gfl1 but I can't help say that it did get a little boring when reading the dialogue when they were in Dollistan.
i heard its been a while that mainstory update in CN still stuck on episode 8.... maybe they want to make all of this T-doll join us first like this Suomi event so they will continue mainstory with all of em allready join us(?)
There's been like six months of writing issues that CN dealt with, complete with writers from Project Neural Cloud being pulled in for emergency rewrites. The way the event story ended does give a lore-related excuse to build a doll army again, but I don't know what the intention is. GFL1 eventually just started using limited time events to tell the main story, so GFL2 might fall under the same pattern.
I for one, wasnted to see the Doll community fall with the consqunce of their inactions. It be a great exanple how they just didnt work if they cant work things out. They're indicision and Bathomle berating Ullrid even tho she was just a coward, saying stuff like your just a T-doll who wants to fight for fun. Was enought to show Urliid this is a lost cause. So it was dscided they had to proceed to the red zone, or try to relocate to the power plant they just found, that had resources and even doll repair pods. Built in facilities. But they would have fight for it, in both options. Urlid tried really hard to try and take the Thermal plant, for the dolls. But she met resistance, berating and indicision at every turn.. Whole voting thing was a thorn against her. They needed leadership to take action. At the final battle, when it apprently failed once again, things just went wrong and Dolls got hurt etc etc.. I was kinda happy too See Urlid announce shes resigning and she will leave on her own (take Suomi with you pleas!) .. Shes really too good for this doll comunity and she was trying to hard for them. Bathsmolve won, now you lead the dolls instead with your cowardcy!. At that time Ulrid gave them a 3rd option.. go back to the humans. They would be safer than the other two options without fighting. They wouldnt dye out then I guess. This would also be great, if Urlid was to eventually find her way to the Elmo and mee the commander, along with Suomi if she went with her. But it kinda pissed me off a bit Littera giving that bs speech and convincing Urlid to stay. The Doll community collapsing would of been a good lore piece. Ulrid was in the right the whole time from my opinion, they had to fight to survive. Urlid pushing responsibility to a vote is kinda her own fault their tho. Also, how did you get all those extra scenes ? I dont recall seeing them.. did I miss a story on the evemt ?? I swear I never seen some of those images before.
