Dude, thank you a million times! I replaced all of my front end suspension and ended up with a popping noise that 4 shops couldn’t find. Kept getting told everything was fine. I thought the tightening specs on the links were low. I’ve always smashed those bushings to about about the size of the washer on top of them but this I didn’t. After your video I jacked it up, noticed a bit of play, smashed em down and bam! Noise gone. It was driving me crazy. Thank you so much!
This may be the information I needed. Clunking noises? Yes! Just bought four new struts and am about to install them, yet always had that funny feeling that "struts" should never make that kind of a noise when they age. Wrong? Maybe. But the sway bar clip here led me onto a new path of discovery. Thanks ; - )
Im dealing with this now. I just replaced struts, lower control arm, ball joint and outter tie rods and im getting a clunking noise after about 2 months
Great video. Some of the trackday crowd advises to wrap the swaybar with teflon tape to avoid metal-on-rubber contact when the silicone grease eventually wears off or dries out. The teflon tape is mostly to avoid annoying squeaky sounds, but I think this could help the swaybar rotate smoothly and keep the car behaving predictably.
This channel helped me and my boyfriend my boyfriend was able to save me a lot of money by learning how to change my rotor and calipers on my car from this channel now there’s something new I can add to the list of things I’ve learned incase I run into this problem thanks 1A-auto😊
My mechanic and Hyundai told me clunking sound from car when accelerating is transfer case, quoted me $4k to replace. I inspected myself and found stabiliser link and wheel bearing as noisy, replaced both and clunking noise is gone. Cost me $200 in parts
If only the bushings where this easy to replace on all vehicles. Had to do it on and early 2000s cavalier and it was the worst. The car was not worth all the problems it had. The wisconsin weather really did a number on the car. But it was my ex's grandmas car so i tried my best to keep it safe and working for her.
Thank you so much, I thought I was going mad. Everyone was saying nothing was wrong, but I knew something must have been causing that clunking noise. Surprise surprise, that was it!!!!! - thank you so much.
Haha. Nice. My 2014 scion tc front left makes a knockong sound. Over rough roads driving straight it rattles. But turning the wheel on curves while driving it doesnt rattle as much. Mainly on the driver side. Looks like i have an idea of where to look now. Sweet.
I really appreciate this video I have a 99 Ford F-250 on a 4 inch lift so I probably need to check all of that out what you just explained especially before I take her in the mud LOL
super vid, nice job , excellent lighting and superb camera work . content and mechanical knowledge were on point and relevant. thanks ,,also liked the blooper outtakes at the end ...adds some reality and authenticity to the vid.
I have a Mini cooper Paceman S All 4 that clunks going over uneven sufaces or bumpy surfaces. Sounds like the flippin suspension if going to pop off. Mini/Bmw in Nashville hears the noise but can't narrow down where its coming from. I have change lower Control Arm, Stabilizer Links, Wheel knuckles. etc etc.. Luv the car, but the noisey/clunking under the front end is annoying. Thoughts?? I need a mini whisperer.
My 2015 Subaru Forester XT rattles and shakes past 55/ 60 mph. If I slightly turn the steering wheel while driving or making a turn at a similar speed or faster it stops the shaking. Now that the check engine light randomly comes on the rattling/ shaking has stopped. When the check engine light is off the shakiness comes back at 55 mph or faster... Guess ill check sway bar end link's and bushings.
+Dan D We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
My Scion TC is making this sound even after changing struts/balljoint + lower control arm. Sway bar link looked good nothing torn but I did not check the sway bar bushing. Intro of this video convinced me it's the same clunk ass noise it's making under on both side driver and passenger on speed bumps.

look at this new guy he's got all the finesse of an emerging holly wood actor written all over him reminds me of Mark walburn in Basketball Diaries...but hes also kinna givin me that Billy Mays vibe
i have a xtpe jag, 2005. i have changed these bushes and tirods, springs, shocks, bushes where the shocks connect to upper part of the body and one of the arms. I still get a knocking sound on N/S rear wheel. my mechanic has run out of ideas and i run out of cash!. any idea what might be causing it? thanks.

My swaybar does minimal movement nothing close to this only wehn i apply significant force with a pry bar. There is no metal noise. Is this normal? I am trying to diagnose a suspension issue and not sure what part is causing it.
Thanks much for your video. I didn't know this. I bought new bushings for my 2000 Camry LE back sway bar. So the bushings are on bear metal. A mechanic put the new bushings on I didn't watch him. Oh geez. I've been wanting to put heavier sway bars on the Camry. I'm customizing the Camry. So where do I buy silicone paste?
I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500hd classic crew cab 6.0 liter gas engine 4wd. Same noise. I rebuilt the entire front end...still happening. No play in the sway bar at all. Any ideas? I've been told replacing the body mounts are the issue, but others have said no it's not. Help!

Just turn the radio up loud to drown out the noise.

I purchased sway bar link from 1A auto for my camry and the quality of parts is very heavy duty and outstanding 👌
I highly recommend that
I've been chasing a rattle at the front-end. Replaced control arms and mounts. Never thought to check swaybar bushings ! 😮
Every time I watch these videos, I'm reminded how thankful I am to live in the south. Not sure how you guys deal with all that rust

Excellent no b.s video, very professional and straight to the point, thankyou from Oz ❤
I would have sanded the sway bar a little bit and got the surface smooth before putting the bushing on.

These 1A videos are getting better, good job 👍
So how bad is it to not change it immediately?
If it is a 1A Auto video, it is worth watching! Thanks for the valuable content!
I got told by VW from factory these should be fitted dry??
Thank you for teaching me something new.
Very nice! Local repair network had absolutely NO IDEA what to do for 3 years. Sold the car in the enc.
Very nice! Show me how to fix rotted parts of a 4th gen 4Runner frame? Please?
I've replaced everything except those. Hopefully, that will fix the knocking sound. Everything else did need to be replaced.
Thank you for the tips of greasing the bushing, which I wasn't going to do, and facing the split to the rear.
If I do not have a lift do I just put the vehicle up on 2 Jack's and take sway bar off from there w both wheels off?

Thank you bro now I can do bushings on my Crosstrek
Thank you A1 Auto for helping me nail down 1 of my gremlins 👍🏽

Excellent video mate. Australia 🇦🇺
what a great vid. I love the explaining what the parts do for the car!! 1a auto rules!
Does one have to lose the bolts holding the sway bar links? Or one can change them bushings just by removing the brackets?
Best channel on youtube. So informative.
Will it also make a noise when you start forward from a stop
should I use silicone grease on the sway bar links ?
Love your videos A1 Auto
The fact that i recently replaced my brake pads, shocks and even tires yesterday make this 10x worst 😭😭

What is the worst that a rear sway bar link does to a car? I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus Coupe 3.0
Good video. Informative. Thank you.

Thankyou !! ❤
how couse sway bar links kit
That's the exact sound I've got in my car. No play in anything. I'm gonna check the stupid bar tomorrow
What would cause the truck to feel like it's swaying a little. It was just aligned and a parts were checked.. seemed good.

Thanks so much for info
Props to the driver for putting their safety and the safety of everybody else at risk to get that video
No need to dramatize. Road traffic was not endangered by that broken bushing. There are vehicles that don't even have a Sway Bar.
5:31 thank u

My car is currently doing this at 35k miles. Is it dangerous to drive even around?
You failed to mention the cv axle.
Great !
The clucking could also be bad sway bar bushings and are bad sway bar end links
how do you fix rust on a car?
I feel terrible for the people that drive in the rust belt or where they salt the roads. 😢
Look at those Rusts .
2 bolts missing to the right control arm over your head
I just watched another video. It said not to lube the bar. I see this and it says to lube it.
