Had the joy of going around castle Combe race track with Adam in this car. Iv driven and been in some cars in my life but that is one il never forget. Pulls lovely, sound amazing under load, I couldn’t stop smiling lol No Recording will ever do this car justice it’s really that nice.
Had a look at one of these a few years ago. Belonged to my Dad's mate, bought it when he sold his farm. His was the wrong colour BRG but with the lovely 5.7 chevy v8. Those Dax reps are the nuts
Great video! Seen your Cobra a couple of times... Always looks amazing. Had a good chat with you about it last July at a GVJ meet. Cobra is a dream car of mine since I saw it in the 1976 Gumball Rally movie!
My first car at 18 was a Austin Healey 3000 mk2. Learned to drive in it. Drove around England, Wales and the Highlands of Scotland and used it to go to work. This was 1979
I remember seeing this a couple of years back at a hot rod show at Beaulieu looked and sounded amazing I've still got the video of you leaving Adam your engine made my son jump 😆 great car great video 👍
regarding the colours on the badge falling off you can use enamel model shop paint little brush and paint it in i had same problem with some type r badges
Nice motor there. But why is the front end light at 80+ mph? I had a Cobra replica with Ford 302 and it always felt pretty solid. Even one night when I took it to the max on the motorway. 4700 rpm was the max I saw in 5th (Borg-Warner T5 box) and with the gearing and tyre size etc, that worked out to 147 mph. With the drag about the same as a shoebox no more revs could be developed, like pushing against a solid wall of air at such a speed. Felt good and stable but things sure move by rather quickly! With your 350 Chev you should be able to see the fabled 160 mph or close to that which some Cobras could achieve.
This was an old video filmed in the summer, and I got that speed wrong. It's more likely over 100 (after having put it on a runway), that the steering gets light. Original Cobras got light at speeds too (same body shape), which is why the Daytona Coupe exits.
@@AdamC3046 I wonder is it not the tyres? I ran Goodyear Eagle GT tyres 225/70x15 on the front, 255/70 x 15 rears, and found that the car behaved best with pressures as low as 1 Bar - 14.8 lbs! At first I worried about such a low pressure but with a relatively large footprint and light weight (1020 kg) it worked out fine over the 10 years and around 60k kms I had the car.
@@stewartw.9151 Nah, it's the car. I've had these and Toyo Proxes T1S on the car and it does it. Cobra reps are known for it for the same reason as original Cobras were. You must've had a well set up one.
Finally! A RHD Cobra replica. Are they still making these? How do you go for compliance and registration of a kit car in the U.K. (including the Caterham)? Things like new kit/replica cars needing to meet new car safety and compliance regulations (safety standards, ESC/ABS, noise levels and pollutant emission controls, etc) are hurdles to overcome down here in OZ/NZ. Although Fraser do have a very successful Lotus 7/Caterham replica business in NZ, so there must be a way.
What an incredibly beautiful car Adam. You're a lucky guy. I used to work in Witham, Essex right beside a company that made replica Cobras and D (i think? The racing type with a bubble behind the drivers head) Jags. It was great as i used to see and hear V8s and straight 6s being started and tested down the nearby A12. The Cobras were far and away my favourites, they sound like thunder when floored and the howl they used to make being thrashed along the A12 (at very, very illegal speeds by the sounds being emanated!) was truly glorious to the ears! These were very high end replicas from what i remember (i believe they were sold for £100+grand and that was in 1991!) Does anyone know what company this was? I can't for the life of me remember the companies name? Again, you're a very lucky guy and if i ever get a lottery win i'll definitely be buying my own Cobra replica.
I actually have an "Arse" with a "Crack" in it & it works pretty well. If you Laquer the s#it out of your badges before you put them on they will last much longer. Send your hubs to an engineering shop tell them what you need & they will do the job for you, I used "Blackpool Road & Rally" but that was quite a bit back, excellent job, excellent price, & that "Extra Inch" will make all the difference.
Good to see this car. My mate has one here in Australia except it does indeed have a 427 Ford motor in it. The rear fender issue you speak of isnt caused by the manufacturer, its caused by the tiny wheels. You need some big fat rubber on the rear to fill those fenders in. Thats how we do it in Australia anyway.
Love the Dax cobra,I would love a superformance cobra,But it has to be a 427ci.I have seen a few Dax ones driving around. The Daytona cobra looks cool as well
Hi Adam, a very interesting video. A couple of points, the steering wheel is/should be a Moto Lita. A SBC shouldn't really be running that cool and may explain some of your fuel economy (if you were actually really concerned about it ;-) and running issues? And lastly, I think you need to have your front end geometry looked at, it should still feel really planted all the way up to 140+ and be totally fit for the track? Still, a very good looking car :-)
Yeh the wheel is a Moto Lita. I think it's more likely the gauge reads low, the car runs fine. The front end doesn't get horrendously light, I just notice it at speeds over a certain figure. Original Cobras did too due to their body shape, hence the introduction of the Daytona Coupe.
Great tour! You did what I could only wish..including the duct tape! Point is, you made the car your own in time and it looks and sounds great! Would love to get to a meet and see you and one of your cars. Oh, and my initials are A.C too! Keep bringing us those cool clips mate! #everyonelovesawhitechaser #bringbackneons
Fantastic looking and sounding car bud 👍👍 Could you not trim those rear overhangs a bit? That would really do my nut in, I'd have to physically avoid looking at it 🤣 It is only grp shouldn't be too hard to buzz back 🤷♂️
Jaguar Chassis? I think you mean front and rear subframes? The chassis is Dax's own. A brief history, John Tojeiro's lasting legacy was in producing a design in the 1950's which AC Cars developed into the AC Ace. From the Ace, Carroll Shelby in turn developed the AC Cobra, marrying a thunderous American V8 engine with the lightweight British chassis. The British company, Dax then started making Cobra replicas in 1968 but in 1975 John Tojeiro, became a director of the company and the car was renamed the Dax Tojeiro. So in a weird way your car is not a replica ;).
I often wonder, when talking Cobras and replicas and kits with people, if they understand how the original cars were built. It seems they have a vague idea that it _must_ be different...somehow.
Great to see the Cobra out again, it looks fantastic

Those front quick lifts should help pedestrians keep focussed on getting out of the road too. Bonus!
God, I love this car! It’s my dream car!
Looks super cool! I'm a huge fan of the Lancia Stratos and I love the Lister Bell STR replica kit
Easily the coolest sun visors I have ever seen.

hi Adam love your content keep up the good work
Get spacers where you bolt them on to the hub and then bolt the wheels onto the spacer?
Nope, can't do that due to the nature of the hub & wheels

If the front suspension is adjustable and sitting slightly high it may cause the steering issues at speed.
