Porgy Fishing on the Blackhawk II | Niantic, CT | At The Rail Ep. 3

- Porgies are a staple of the party boat fleet due their abundance, scrappiness on the end of the line, and their tasty, pork-chop-shaped fillets.
Long Island Sound is the epicenter of the Northeast's porgy fishery, and that's where Anthony DeiCicchi heads to set sail on the Blackhawk II out of Niantic, Connecticut. Mixed in with the scup are sea bass, fluke, and even a few triggerfish.

Kudos to OTW Media for a piece that captures the essence of party boat fishing for porgies....fun, comradere and lots of action!
Glad you like it!
Thank you! We had a blast!
The thing I really like about this series so far is that the captains and crew seem to genuinely enjoy what they’re doing. I remember going on party boats in Jersey as a kid and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those crew members had gotten out of jail that morning. It’s great to see people actually try to make sure people are enjoying themselves
We're lucky to fish with some really great captains and crew. This boat was very fun to fish on. Thanks for the comment!
Fished off the Blackhawk, My Joy and the HellCat. Never a dull moment
best boat in the CT area. have had many a great trip and load of big fish

Best boat old sunbeam fleet
Great memories on blackhawk. I remember at 13 catching bluefish and stripers and won the pool for both most fish and biggest!!!! Was amazing experience captain and crew are absolutely wonderful.
I love this party boat series you guys do. Great stuff! You've inspired me to make a trip to the NE and get on some of this fishing and we even have our own boat but this just looks like a ton of fun.
Wow what a wonderful episode! Great work guys. Really nice size porgies Anthony 💪🏻🙏🏻🤙🏻
Thanks Thomas!
Had a great trip on the Blackhawk II a few years ago. BSB and Porgies made for a great fish fry afterwards.
Just love this series!
Me. Too
I still party boat fish til this day. Started when I was a little kid in cape May nj. I’m now a local in cape May and still love it
Was on vacation from Washington state a few years ago and fished on the Blackhawk. What a blast, caught togs and bluefish. Getting to talk fishing with captain Greg was a highlight.
Definitely a great boat, captain & crew!
Niceee some quality porgies, I caught a 17 incher last month!
That's a big one!
I had a great time fishing on the blackhawk my first time won't be my last I came from norfolk va .
That's awesome. Great captain, crew, and boat.
Lindo video brother
Do a party boat bluefish or tuna trip
I’m sure the tuna episode will be coming in mid September or October
Nice video Cheech!
Thanks Matt!
@onthewatermedia
Should try Lucky Lady in Clinton CT
When i was about 14,i caught a gigantic would-be pool winning porgy...but then some guy sauntered over and weighed in his completely average size trigger 🙄...still salty about it
honestly Ct high taxes suck but it's geological location is too perfect to leave especially if you are a fisherman.
Aside from nature, CT is a POS.
I have caught scup as far north as Gloucester ma
On most all trips, I end up taking scup from other people who don't want to keep them. Does CT require you to leave the skin on filets like RI does? It only applies to scup and seabass.
Not sure about ct but nj does for the porgy not the seabass though
I remember the last time I went on this boat some goober hooked another guy on the opposite side of the boat and then the diamond jig flew by my head at 90 miles another hr
@ Anthony D is there a rating on the convention tsunami rod? The link is not working. Thanks in advance. Great video, fishing, and table fare
That's the "Old Salty" from Belmar.........
What were those large jigs with maylar in the plano Edge at 10:34?
Tsunami Fluke Mania Mylar Jigs
8oz in 30ft in glass flat conditions #overkill I use 60g (2.1oZ) in 80ft!
Not on ahead boat to many tangles with other people.
Anybody know what make and model the spinning rod is?
Tsunami Trophy Series TSSPJ-S601MH - Great stick! Paired with a Tsunami Evict 3000
I'm mad you using that much claim for porgies.
I wanna go on a squid trip?.
Me too!
There is no need to take the extra step to bleed the fish. They are just as tasty without doing that.
no they're not. bleeding is essential to maintaining the utmost quality
That might be the craziest thing I’ve ever heard
@@mattbobsong680 Much better bled out
Look at fillets sold in a fish market. They aren't covered in blood for a reason.
