I drive a flatbed and make 10-15 stops a day, and roll dozens of straps during that time. I always thought a cordless drill would work great, but couldn't figure out how to attach it. I never guessed it would be so simple!

I feel the same way. When I use a step deck straps are low to the ground. Easy to set a Allen key in the drill and wind up. Sames as a covered wagon. I've seen adapters you can buy but an Allen key is like 10cents.

Use a Dewalt drill cordless. A ton of torque power and can wind up straps that are stiff!

Still using it. I do 20 loads every 2 weeks and have to roll those suckers up. My wrists are perfect. Another driver has carpal tunnel and I told him to stop working dumb. Let tools do the work and not your wrists. This job will wear and tear your body.

Cool, I didn't want to spend the money on the store model of the winder. found a discarded mudflap restainer, re-bent the wire into speed handle shape.
It is always cool to have all your stuff packed up before they get finished getting the freight off the deck.

+Andy M using a dewilt drill now the same Allen key. Use to have wrist problems and this cured it. I suggest all those who do this for a lifetime do this as repeating certain positions can cause havok on your joints and nerves. I started feeling pain in my wrist was I was turning the wench. Cleared up after using this for a couple weeks.

Will people steal your straps off the ratchet? Shouldn't you roll up your straps a stoe the away in a tool box for safe keeping?
    Thx 4 the vid

I love the idea for winding it up. But my problem is getting them to release. I wish it worked that easily to release.

Heading up to Pittsburgh. Just beat Washington rush hour.... Anyway this is great because you can hold the strap with 1 hand and the drill with the other to feed it straight.

I upgraded to dwilt drill and still doing this with same Allen key in this video. Saves the wrists from carpol tunnel from constantly twisting hand joint.

I wouldn’t want to be walking on the other side of the trailer when all that metal on the end of the strap comes flying over!

I now use dewlt 2 speed drill. Load bar I use has s curve in it to keep bar close to body so I don't have to bend over too much preventing injury

I made a better one. Some time ago. Use a hook from a anchor for a bounce house cut down to size and add on a drill works perfect. V shape works way better
