I don't even go to U Mich but watching the senior entrance has been a yearly tradition of mine since 2017. I found this page and discovered MT during a tough time in life and this was a ray of hope. I'm glad that despite all circumstances, we can all get together and celebrate MT 21's hard work. Go Blue!
I was talking to my friend today about how the previous one's music was stuck in my head and how I was scared that they weren't going to be able to make one this year. I'm so excited!!!!
Dear MT21, even though I do not know you and have nothing to do with the SMTD at Michigan, this video has compelled me to write you something, for it has moved me. I discovered the other senior entrances a few days ago, and greatly enjoyed them. Having studied theatre myself (theatre making and education) in the Netherlands, and also still parttime studying musical theatre there, it fills me with feelings of nostalgia. Even though I do not get most of your inside jokes, they remind me of our own theatre department's inside jokes and it's always nice to revisit those memories of my college years. But your senior entrance is, of course, something else completely. It is amazing to see what you have accomplished in spite of everything that's going on. The singing, sound-mix and lip-sync is on point, the choreography and filmography is amazing, and what touches me most is your fighting spirit. Even though it's a lip-synced performance, because you had no choice, it still gets the message across. And what a message it is! You chose to not only focus on funny musical theatre jokes or your own heart-warming journeys (luckily, you also had plenty of that going on), but used your senior entrance to try and make the world a better place. And even though I do not know any of you, I have faith that you are a lovely bunch of people that are not only amazing artists, but will also do some good in the world. Keep being amazing, and err...go Blue! (Am I saying that right?) P.S.: I laughed very hard at the 'Zoom University' part, man, that one hit home, so relatable! Love from the Netherlands, Chris

Great job to everyone involved in this. I didn't go to this school, I'm 38, and I live in Germany so I have no idea how this was suggested to me - but it brought back incredible memories of when I used to do MT when I was younger, so glad that it did. I imagine this pandemic must have been rough on your plans - but glad to see you were all able to put something like this together while keeping socially distanced. Incredible job.

So one of these ended up in my suggestions thanks to the algorithm. I've watched about 4-5 now. They've all been great but this one is the first one that brought me to tears multiple times. This was PHENOMENAL. You all did an amazing job. And to think that you planned, practiced, and pulled this off in the middle of the flustercluck that was 2021 makes it even more incredible. I cannot WAIT to see what this group will go on to do in the future! This was an amazing production and you are ALL incredibly talented performers. Sincerely, a 38 year old former theater kid who just laughed and cried through this whole thing and *loved* ever freaking second of it.
It's my first year of college and I am so excited I get to go to umich but due to covid I have to spend it online at home. I'm not an MT major, but this made me feel a little less alone here. Thank you
That moment when I genuinely wish I went to this university, and that I feel connected to this school despite being in NZ. Well done guys! Great performance and storytelling!
Ok but before we do let’s rank the last few years. For me: 1.) 2018. They LOVE eachother, you can feel it! So much talent. And the writing- creativity and perfection like professional Broadway book-stuff! Everyone’s a Little Bit Ratchet?! The La La Land moment! That finale? When their ‘incredible line’ becomes an ‘M’? * Chef’s kiss* Perfect 11/10 made me cry rewatch at least once a week for feels. 2.) 2020. Let’s talk about that Hadestown moment WOAH, with the dark and phones and Xan Berube’s soprano “My phone’s on 3% and it started raining” holy shit, I would listen to this section on repeat over the cast album. Also so much joy, and black excellence and celebration of LGBTQ+. Incredible comic timing all round and wow that choreo STOP IT 3.) 2019. Would 100% have benefited from subtitles to get its full effect. What a crazy amazing collection of voices?! A++ for sass and chaotic energy. 4.) 2017. Less polished, less emotional but would also have slapped more with subtitles cos audio was sketchy at points. However, soo many hilariously funny moments. Still lolling @ “Music Theory? Probs won’t need it.” Most importantly- holy sh** that rendition of ‘Seventeen’ made the hairs on my neck stand up, listen to it on repeat (and loving seeing Simon Longnight and Nkeki Obi-Melekwe geeking out over it in the audience in the most adorable way)
I'm 25 in the UK have already done uni and this hit me hard, the random people and things they thank throughout, I don't know them but there were people like that at my uni, the 7/11 guy you thanked was adorable because when I was in uni there was a sandwich shop that we would all go to every day for lunch, literally the best freaking sandwiches and that sandwich lady saw alot of us at our best and our worst and she would talk to all of us, and help us out if we were low on cash that day or would give us extra filling and toppings for free. Unsung heroes man
truly beautiful!! When all the odds are stacked against you...what do you do?! RISE ABOVE like the true leaders and best. This was honestly the best senior entrance I've seen. Such incredible creativity in this video...the filming, choreography, lyrics, jokes. YESSS MT21, congrats to all involved!

I almost never comment on videos but oh my GOD. I watch all of these and have seen what feels like a ton over the years, but this was by FAR my favorite. The lyrics, the message, choreo, your VOICES. Y’all are amazing
My daughter said she might like in to studying MT in America particularly Michigan (we are from England) and I thought what a bizarre choice... this just popped up on my feed and NOW I get it. Well done guys that was amazing!
After watching this again...and again... still in awe each time. I will keep returning to this video for inspiration.
Umich MT'21 rules the world it's official
Have an awesome Freshman year!!!!
i watch this to work out at the gym and go 4 miles easy- the motivation and inspiration is unparalleled. CHILLS
good job kids. fingers crossed broadway will be back when you guys get here.
I'm here crying as if I know anyone on that video, it really helped seeing seniors be uplifting, from one senior(high school) to another, thank you for making the future sound promising instead of bleak.
Holy shirt this is INCREDIBLE. This video is a literal masterpiece!! Everyone in it is soooo talented!!! And the nicknames are the best I’ve seen
I am neither a musical theatre major, nor do I attend UMichigan, but I freaking love these videos. This one is truly amazing. Kuddos guys
Hey MT21, I have zero connection to Michigan, but this randomly popped into my feed and I am so glad I watched. You all are amazing! I hope you have a wonderful senior year!
they literally never miss
I am so proud to be one of class 2020 of the University of Michigan. Thank you!
I'm a High School Theatre Arts teacher in NC, went to Tisch in NYC; class of 21 you made me CRY - going to share this with my students - I hope they'll find their place in a great Theatre Arts program too💜🎭🌈
So one of these ended up in my suggestions thanks to the algorithm.
Standing socially distanced ovation. Can't wait until stages can open their doors to your talent.
Y’all have got to be kidding me!!! Even during a global pandemic, the tradition of watching this every year hasn’t faded away!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I look forward to these every year and I’m SO GLAD it was still able to happen this year despite the craziness ❤️
This is really powerful. Congrats to MT21 for putting this together despite all of the challenges this year. It's a brilliant piece of work. 💛
Ok but before we do let’s rank the last few years. For me:
Incredible comic timing all round and wow that choreo STOP IT
Probs won’t need it.” Most importantly- holy sh** that rendition of ‘Seventeen’ made the hairs on my neck stand up, listen to it on repeat (and loving seeing Simon Longnight and Nkeki Obi-Melekwe geeking out over it in the audience in the most adorable way)
And the freshmans from 2018 are the seniors in this video. The feels.
@@Jao.m4 this just hit me
I'm 25 in the UK have already done uni and this hit me hard, the random people and things they thank throughout, I don't know them but there were people like that at my uni, the 7/11 guy you thanked was adorable because when I was in uni there was a sandwich shop that we would all go to every day for lunch, literally the best freaking sandwiches and that sandwich lady saw alot of us at our best and our worst and she would talk to all of us, and help us out if we were low on cash that day or would give us extra filling and toppings for free. Unsung heroes man
What an extraordinary group of talented performers. Clearly a pandemic is not going to stop them. Bravo & Brava!
I’ve seen this at least 12 times and I keep coming back. Absolutely amazing job from everyone! Go blue 💙💛
Special Tony award please?
Duuuuuude I was SO concerned that we weren’t gonna get one this year! But how are they gonna hand over their plates?!
And their faculty gifts!
truly beautiful!! When all the odds are stacked against you...what do you do?! RISE ABOVE like the true leaders and best. This was honestly the best senior entrance I've seen. Such incredible creativity in this video...the filming, choreography, lyrics, jokes. YESSS MT21, congrats to all involved!
I swear, every time I watch this it just gets better and better 😍 I’ve never wanted to move to the US and study MT more than I do right now! Amazing work, guys! Sitting here with goosebumps 🥰 I also loved this video as we were able to clearly see your incredible talents in dancing, singing, acting and in comedy but unlike other year you weren’t restricted for space and we could hear the amazing lyrics! Kicking goals, seniors!
Congrats to the production and creative team!! The techs really shined in how much work you can see in this
As chemistry students in our sophomore year, my friends and I have now officially named 3:10 - 3:30 the anthem of our 3rd semester!
WOOWWWWW Y’ALL REALLY KILLED THAT SHIT HUH?? I got a couple favorite MT entrances but where you all could have said meh this sucks it’s not in person and not put in effort you turned it around and made this entrance YOURS. I had chills the WHOLE WAY THROUGH!! From the editing to acting to LYRICS?? WOWOWOWOW You had me crying
- a spartan bfa sm major😭💚
I wasn't ready to cry so hard. Thank you so much for this ❤
As soon as I heard that intro I knew this was gonna be a good video
the way i look forward to these every year
Hope their faculty is as colorful as this class one day ✨
i am a 2021 musical theatre senior at Young Harris College and this made me cryyyyyy
