You can just feel the “we’ve been waiting to get back on stage for over a year” energy, here! This may be the best one of these I’ve ever seen (and I’ve watched pretty much all of them in the past month haha). Incredible work, class of ‘22.
@@spiderdance4745 I believe it’s a performance/orientation thing for the incoming freshman. They sing about various things on campus, introduce themselves and their teachers, and I think they invite then to a welcome party or something LOL
here’s the list of the songs/musicals: “Revolting Children” - Matilda “It Sucks to be Me” - AVENUE Q “America” - West Side Story “Tradition” - Fiddler on the Roof “Belle” - Beauty and the Beast “Brand New Day” - The WIZ “Voulez Vous” - Mamma Mia “What is a Legacy” - Hamilton “I Know Things Now” - Into the Woods “You Can’t Stop the Beat” - Hairspray “Sunday” - Sunday in the Park with George “Four Years of Blue” - Original Song
the Hamilton section has me in tears. literally crying. You can feel the energy and passion through the screen, I can only imagine how the freshman felt watching this live.
These senior entrances always make me emotional, but this is the first time I've really felt that sort of pure friendship where you just sit around, playing the guitar and having one of those solemn jam sessions after a long day... I don't think I've seen them actually play instruments before, but it was a really nice touch... you could really feel the love class of 22 has for each other and what they do... GOOD LORD I'm emotional
I think this is the best one I’ve seen so far, don’t get me wrong I love all of them, but this one is just different. You can feel the energy through the screen, you can see how excited everyone is to finally be back. Loved this, it had me in tears.
Class of 2022 has produced a polished, beautifully entertaining performance that captured the pure, extravagant, classic essence of musical theatre that got me to love it in the first place :') Bravo. What a talented bunch.
No idea who the Michael that they are singing about is, but he must have done something right to deserve that GORGEOUS cronchy harmony in the "Sunday" section. and the PLACEMENT my god
Michae McElroy is the Department and that is his arrangement of Sunday they were singing. His own harmonies! He’s an incredible Broadway Vet and led the Broadway Inspirational Voices choir for many years and they sang his own arrangements of Broadway songs.
@@gradescape i didn't know it was his arrangement! that makes it so much more beautiful and touching. this 2022 class has such a mesmerising combination of heart, talent, technical ability and commitment. it's really astonishing
I love how uplifting and supportive of the freshmen this was. This might be my favorite senior entrance so far - never thought I'd say this. :') and that original song!!! *chef's kiss*
Never even been to the state of Michigan but I'll be damned if I don't wait around for these every year. These young artists are next level and this performance is exceptional. Thank you to MT theatre for giving us this joy every year!
so as a senior in college in a different school, this whole thing hit me hard, especially that amazing original song! great vibes all throughout and it definitely hits harder this year now that i'm actually a senior.
every time i watch this i just wonder how michael mcelroy was feeling, seeing these seniors using his arrangement of sunday, singing his name in incredible harmony, lined up in a ‘M’ to welcome him back with such open-hearted reverence as their department chair. what an amazing tribute and MOMENT 🥺🥺
I have an acquaintance (a bit of a stretch… I don’t think he knows who I am) in this class at UofM. I remember when he got into the program, everyone in our community was so proud of him. It’s so weird to see him as a senior now, and I know he’s just going to thrive after he gets out there!
the hairspray part made me cry so much cause I'm in ninth grade in highschool in Costa Rica and going to umich is literally my dream lol. I've been saying I wanna go there for over a year now and I think about it everyday 😭😭😭 senior entrances always make me cry cause I see people living and experiencing what I wish to
This year. Wow. So much to be proud of. The best cohesive production. The best orchestra. The best composing and arranging. The best video production. The best choreography. The best staging. The best working together as a team. Need I go on and on? Overall, the best of all the years from this top-notch school. You guys really knocked it out of the park. Congrats to all. 👏👏👏👏👏👏😇
Did I study MT? No. Did I ever even apply to UofM or even schools in the US? No. Am I weirdly so proud of you all? Heck yes. Congrats on getting this close to the end of your degree and best of luck on your careers and journeys from here!
WOW I've been watching these for so long and this was so special. The VOCAL. QUALITY. AND. TONE. like DAMN. and the harmonies in Sunday gave me CHILLS and made me tear up. and I LOVED the original song. and the POC feature was awesome
I am a 15 year old teenager from Canada who’s never even heard of this university or it’s musical theatre program but this video brought tears to my eyes. The talent, creativity and overall really positive energy that this video brought is insane.❤️
Never heard of the UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN? What. ... you been living under a rock? It's one of the absolute BEST universities in the United States of America!! 👍🤗🏈👍
5:17 WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE DIVERSITY/MINORITY SHOUT OUT! I love it! I'd kill to be a part of this entire experience..you really have to hand it to the faculty for cultivating such sheer talent! 🌟
Senior year is always a fantastic event ....this group just left a memorable experience for all who sees it!!! Far by the very BEST Senior Entrance I have seen ....BRAVO!!!
I'm 72, which means I've been a theater kid for 60 years. (Those two numbers astonish me as I key them.) You're all wonderful. Enjoy every minute--even the awful ones--of your brave, tender, joyful, terrible, passionate lives. My heart goes with you.
Okayyyyy but why was I just thinking earlier today, "I wonder if the class of 2022 is gonna have a video this year" only to see this was posted???? Also why does this SERIOUSLY have me reconsidering going back to school when I JUST graduated from grad school in May in a pretty unrelated field??? 😭😭❤❤
i have had a year to reflect, rewatch, digest... and nothing will convince me that this senior entrance will EVER be topped. the cameraderie and sheer love for eachother, singing chops, incredible choreo and insanely talented dancers, clever writing and storyelling, highlighting their diversity and unique skillsets... the beautiful little touches, like including the hamilton 'bullet' choreo as a sneeze for the covid section and using michael mcelroy's own stunning arrangement of 'sunday' to welcome him as the new chair, playing their own instruments and that ORIGINAL SONG?! they really helped us understand the disrupted, strange educational experience from all of the interruption that covid-19 and quarantine brought for them, but also the resilience, commitment and emotional maturity that brought them through it and produced all of this. we should put it in a time capsule to show future generations fr. HAIL, CLASS OF 2022! go blue
This is my favorite class yet. SOOO GOOD!!! The harmonies were so on point and the highlight on diversity within the major was very well-done. So excited for next years!
Love this! If there had been more diversity in the industry ten years ago I may have felt comfortable enough to pursue musical theater. Big kudos to all you beautiful people making Broadway and theatre more inclusive and wonderful.
Every year I watch these videos and by the end of them I AM SOBBING! I'm not a MT student anywhere. I'm a teacher in England, but God I love musical theatre!
I’m in England too, not a teacher and not even any good at singing but absolutely LOVED that! I’ve never seen or even heard of one of these senior entrances before but wow they are so amazing! It makes me wish we’d had something like this over here when I was at school. I love their positivity, it comes across so strongly and the talent is just beyond anything! I’m so coming back each year to look for this, how fantastic!
There are no words!!!!!!!!!! Simply wow!!!!!!!! Couldn't stop tearing up!!!!!!!! The talent is breathtaking!!!!!! Congratulations wonderful students!!!! May you rise to the very top of Broadway or wherever you want to go!!! Go Blue!!!
Never heard of this. First time seeing. Why am I crying? Also, I'm like happy that these people are going out in the world and hopefully bring this joy of life with them
Fabulous! Love the choreography and LOVE that the lighting and video editing. This is really dynamic! Congratulations MT22. I'll always LOVE MT2020 (may be a bit biased there) but you guys did an AMAZING JOB. AND The expanded band too. Leveling up!!
"Junior glow up's just beyond the other side! Glow up, glow up, glow up! Grow up." As a high school junior, I wasn't expecting that line to be so terrifying.
Ok so I’m in Singapore and I don’t know why this was recommended to me. But, as a musical theatre fan, I’m glad it was. My jaw dropped at the level of talent. I can’t believe you guys are students. I was in London and listened in on a class of MT students there. They pale compared to you. But I’m also an ex Producer who spots special talent. I promise you, the guy who played the violin at the end, he will make it big. Ps who is he???

Wow. I’ve been watching these since my freshman year of high school and I’d always get so excited to see them and look up to these amazing performers. I’m a senior (hs)now, the last song had me in tears. I’m so excited for next year, and I’m so beyond terrified too. I will be transferring, but god, do I want to be a wolverine someday.
Oh, my gosh! A star is born! I never heard of this, but it is amazing! That is a whole LOTTA talent on that stage. They must put on some spectacular plays!
