I would like to see a recognized authority in menopause, such as the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) or a preventive medicine organization, or ACOG, for example, to compile a document with all the facts (and references) on how proper menopause care is vital in keeping women healthy in post menopause. Women should be able to take this documentation to their providers to help them get the proper care. This would be empowering for women and would save them valuable time! It is also potentially much more effective in getting the right care than women referring to “a doctor on TH-cam”, for example, which probably will get them an eye roll from the provider. Those with the proper knowledge would do well in helping to empower women getting care ASAP. As is pointed out in this video - time is of the essence.
Your suggestion is excellent. If only it were that simple. Fear has interfered with everything that is logical in the world of menopause, for doctors and patients alike.
@@MenopauseTaylor Yes, I understand the fear element infiltrating everything having to do with HRT for menopause, due to the (willful) misinterpretation and misrepresentation of findings of the WHI. But it is so much later now, and I think young, open-minded physicians trained today could be given objective training in menopause and it’s treatment, and be taught objectively about the WHI and all the data we have to date. I was encouraged to hear that Heather Hirsch in Boston has been active in this area. She’s the lead physician and menopause specialist at the menopause clinic at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and has been a faculty member at Harvard medical school educating interested residents about menopause, HRT, the WHI…. It sounded like that training was voluntary, not mandatory, but I think it’s at least a start. My point being that I think it is possible that we can teach young, unbiased medical students the facts without the fear. Why should we be held back “forever” by those who give in to fear and prefer to stay ignorant of all the facts? Those with the knowledge and power need to work on establishing quality menopause education for physicians who are planning to treat women. Period! It upsets me that, as you say, with the knowledge you give us, we most likely know “90 percent” more than the doctor across from us. I don’t want that! It scares me. I don’t want an incompetent doctor! I was very excited to hear that Louise Newson’s free online menopause training for healthcare providers in the UK got over 10,000 sign ups within the first 2 months! This means they’re not afraid, doesn’t it? How were they able to leave the fear behind? It looks like it’s possible! So let’s leave those who are afraid behind and focus on the “brave” ones who are interested in helping women live their best lives post menopause. End of my rant. 😁
I’m 13 years procrastinator because I didn’t have this lovely lady to teach me. I really enjoy organic tempeh, chickpeas, and those wonderful foods from Earth. I don’t even know if I’m doing g the right thing, but so far menopause hasn’t been a big deal for me.
After watching a video of yours last year, at the age 54 I had a DEXA scan. To my shock I already had osteopenia. That is with me taking estrogen for a year and a half prior.

Thank you so much for your videos. I’m from Sweden and when it comes to HRT we are not as advanced as you are. It is for exempel hard to get bioidentical progesterone for menopause (it is mostly used for IVF). I just starten HRT, I’m 50 and I’m glad I listened to you and others like you. Now I have to tell my sister to stop procrastinating. She is 55 and is suffering due to menopause.

Too late for my mother, but you are saving my life. Thank you Barbie! Btw, if your lipids are suddenly bad and you are perimenopausal that's a sign of thyroid issues. That's how I knew I had to see the endocrinologist.
I got a hysterectomy 12 years ago. I was a vegetarian and have changed my diet to vegan because My lipids have been declining since 2014. I have dry skin, collagen loss, vaginal dryness and I am now just asking about estrogen replacement. I am so glad I found you. I just hope it’s not too to start taking. I didn’t want to take estrogen replacement because of the negative talk surrounding this topic. I have changed my mind.
This should be on all news outlets! We women need estrogen! Why aren’t more doctors teaching their patients about this? I am forever grateful I found you when my menopause started and immediately demanded estrogen. I will use it for life! It has helped me so much. Hello Dr. Taylor, I understand and appreciate you teaching us on the importance of estrogen replacement for our health... I've also watched your videos on vitamins, foods and supplements that help us through our menopause journey. My question to you is...What if some of us can't take HRT because of previous cancer or family history of stroke, or like myself, because of massive headaches I had a CT scan of my brain and it turns out I have a blood clot in my brain. Thank God it was discovered on time. Does that mean we just have to live with the fear of waiting for one or all of these diseases to happen to us? I would love for you to make a video on what precautions we need to follow to help those of us who can't take HRT. Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not trying to be difficult but I just feel that there isn't enough advice out there for women like me... Also, I was on HRT when the blood clot was discovered. The doctors can't pinpoint what might have caused the clot but they did say that there is a possibility that HRT may have caused the blood clot.
This is precisely the kind of thing that warrants a consultation. I will tailor everything specifically to YOU and help you assess your options. You can schedule at MenopauseTaylor.ME, and I do them all online.
Excellent & concise graph with all three diseases! Is it possible to offer us a graph which compares the risks for women vs men, same age, for the three diseases?
Men do not get these diseases as a result of estrogen deficiency, or even as a result of testosterone deficiency. They never lose all their testosterone. So, their risks for these diseases are due to other risk factors.
Such a great video!👏👏👏🎉 Tks for all this education and your desire to teach us, dr. Taylor 🙏 I certainly will share this vídeo to my brazilian girl friends who speak English as I always do!
Hi Dr Taylor. I just discovered your video and I have to say Thank you so much for your video and education on menopause. I am so behind the curve and worried about where I am on HRT timeline. I have been concerned about weight gain taking HRT. As a young woman I gained crazy amounts of weight on birth control. I had some many problems with my periods and other factors, it was speculated I may have PCOS mind you that was over 40 years. My doctor prescribed patches but I’ve been worried about the dosage amount and not sure how to approach the subject without seeming like I am questioning their professional opinion. Can HRT cause weight gain? Since starting menopause I have gradually gained about 30 pounds and can’t seem to lose it no matter what I try. It is like you said, the things that used to work for my body no longer has the same results. 😔.. Your passion and care for woman and our health is a blessing. I can speak for myself but the only thing I have ever been taught is menopause is just something that happens to a woman when she ages and there isn’t anything that can be done about it.. you definitely help us to know there are options. What you are doing with helping educate woman about menopause and our bodies is impacting how we chose to live and is making a difference for those of us who don’t even know where to start on this subject. 🥰❤️
Thank you so much for your tutorials. You have taught me so much! Any chance you can talk at some point about lichen sclerosus? I’m learning that this is a chronic skin condition that generally occurs in postmenopausal women.
I will cover this in the unit on vaginal symptoms many, many, many moons from now. If you want me to address YOUR lichen sclerosis, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME.
I wish I could blame procrastination for the years gone by without HRT. Doctors refused to prescribe it for me over the years because I didn't have severe postmenopausal systems. I finally have a doctor who prescribed the lower dose a year ago for "vaginal dryness." Of course, my insurance doesn't want to pay for it because they want me to use the localized estradiol creams and rings, and other drugs for bone density, which I do not want to take after reviewing what they do and do not do. I'll take my chances with estrogen. When I started watching your videos, I was stunned to realize how much HRT would have helped me if I could have started taking it 13 years ago. Vaginal dryness is the least of my concerns but merely a side benefit! I'd be happy to at least stop further bone loss and brain shrinkage with HRT going forward, so I'm happy to learn that positive news. Now the only outstanding question is whether my heart can handle the higher HRT dose. I assume to find out I need to see a cardiologist about tests that can determine the health of my heart. Thank you for dedicating your time to educating women about the three big diseases and HRT. It may be too late for me, but it's not too late for my three daughters, and you can believe I am passing this information on to them so they will be prepared to act when the time comes for them.

I’m taking the required dose of estradiol for preventing the 3 major issues you’ve covered. My question thou, is there max dose of estrogen a woman can take? And I have hypothyroidism, can HRT make your thyroid need more levothyroxine or less? Thank you so very much!💕

I’m very curious about your thoughts on the new findings of high FSH levels in post menopausal woman and its pathology pathway to Alzheimer’s, obesity, and osteoporosis. If HRT reduces FSH, that’s another win for estrogen.
HRT will not change your FSH value. But it will prevent Alzheimer's, osteoporosis, and heart attack IF you start it before you begin developing those diseases AND IF you take an adequate dosage of pharmaceutical estrogen. I think you are connecting two things that you cannot connect. And, as a result, you have a lot of misconceptions. I cannot begin to correct them all here. And if you did not start with video #1 and watch them all in order, you will confuse yourself even more. I was reading about the study recently published in Nature by the Mount Sinai research team that found a connection between high FSH levels and increased Alzheimer’s risk in post menopausal woman.
@Maida Kreis Except the study said nothing about estrogen, just that their findings suggested post menopausal women FSH binds with FSHR increasing fat and perhaps neurodegenerative diseases.
Your education is so very valuable! I plan to schedule a consult with you after I see the Oncologist for a 7mm Stage 1b ER+ PR+ DCI Lumpectomy while on Divigel & Prometrium. My expensive tests show that I am not methylating which could be from the MTHFR gene I have. Can you advise me on my best options? If so, how long of an appointment should I request?
Suzette, I can't wait to meet you! You will be shortchanging yourself with a one-hour consultation. Schedule two. I'll cover everything you include in your questionnaire. And I look forward to meeting you and helping you.
Nothing is mandatory, BUT I will only address what you submit in the questionnaire that you fill in at the time of scheduling. So, whatever you want to discuss has to be included in the questionnaire. I will create a big document that incorporates the entire education AND tailors it all to you. And I will send you that document 4 days BEFORE the consultation for you to read. That enables you to use your consultation time productively.
I know that this is a big problem. But, this education will empower you to advocate for yourself and do whatever you have to do to ensure your peace of mind (even if you have to pay for it).
But if you lead a active and healthy lifestyle before and after menopause, doesn’t that safe guard you from a heart attack? Why do doctors always ask if any heart disease runs in the family?
The most protective thing against a heart attack in women is estrogen, period. Of course your lifestyle and genetics contribute, too. But, have you ever heard of a woman having a hear attack BEFORE menopause? It's practically unheard of ... all because of estrogen. I can tell you haven't watched all my videos in order because I gave you an entire unit on heart attack that consisted of 26 videos, from # 160 - 185.

“Estrogen Dominance” The whole theory of “estrogen dominance” was made up by Dr. John Lee of the Alternative community in order to get women to blame estrogen for all their gynecologic problems. His goal was to sell progesterone, which he touted as the “safe and beneficial” hormone. Well, his marketing worked. But it’s a complete fallacy. You can’t use progesterone instead of estrogen any more than you could wear a baby’s clothes instead of yours. You are “estrogen dominant” because you are female (Mama Bear) and estrogen is YOUR hormone. You are estrogen dominant for half of every menstrual cycle you ever have. And you are estrogen dominant during peri-menopause. But at post-menopause, you are estrogen deficient. And estrogen deficiency is what causes all the problems both short and long term once you reach post-menopause. Peri-menopause is, by definition, loss of your progesterone. Post-menopause is, by definition, loss of your estrogen. So you lose your progesterone before you lose your estrogen. While that does essentially constitute "estrogen dominance," it's really more accurately labelled "estrogen excess."
So should we start estrogen before menopause. I'm 48 and still have regular cycles. Not sure when to start. Also I am taking progesterone and it's been a lifesaver with Perimenopause sleep issues and anxiety!

Dearest Barbie, 18 months ago when I was 60 my OBGYN prescribed HRT cream (Estrogen, progesterone, Testosterone) at my request. At age 50 I had one last period. So, I've been in menopause technically since 51. I asked my doctor about 10-year window, and he said the bioidentical compounded cream is ok. It's taking the pill that can put me at risk. I am a little confused about the window of opportunity you mention in your book and videos. I am hairline from Osteoporosis which is probably because I waited so long to go with HRT! Until I bought your book and followed your videos. I was just 10 years late finding you. Please reply. Am I still putting me at risk by using HRT after 10 years of post menopause?
The bio identical compounded cream is made of 80 percent estriol and 20 percent estradiol. Estriol is a week estrogen so it will not cause dislodging of arterial plaque. So your doctor is probably correct about the cream. Estriol is ineffective at preventing post menopausal disease. You are missing an understanding of what prevents heart attack, osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s. If you watch ALL the videos in order you will gain understanding and will be able to make the best choice for yourself. I’m guessing that you are in the UK were the scam hormone clinics are plentiful.
You definitely need a consultation with me, my dear. You have some misunderstandings. In a consultation, I will correct them all, tailor everything specifically to YOU, and help you meet all your goals. You can schedule at MenopauseTaylor.ME, and I do them all via video.
I am the same- 10 years post. The problem is that physicians won’t prescribe Bioidentical hormones. They will give vaginal creams only. The clinics that will help charge unbelievable rate! 😭 With a consultation, do you pair women with a helpful physician in their area.
So just to be sure that I have understood correctly.... Brain shrinkage is a "sure thing" for all women who hit post menopause and do not want to take estrogen replacement at all, correct?
The key is to understand that one fo the 2 fuels for your brain is estrogen. the other is food (and your brain utilizes 25% of al the calories you consume). If your brain does not have estrogen, it is running on fumes. That "forgetfulness" or "brain fog" that you hav at menopause is your brain's way of telling you that it is running on fumes. Whether or not it ends up at Alzheimer's is what you cannot know until it's too late.

PLEASE, PLEASE, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I will make sure you know exactly what will and will not accomplish your goals. I do them all via video.
Oh my! You definitely haven't watched my videos in order. Your question reveals a misunderstanding of the very basis of the difference between PERI-menopause and POST-menopause. PLEASE schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME if you want a shortcut to the entire eduction AND to have it all tailored specifically to YOU. I do them all via video. There is no way I can give you what you need in a comment box.
I see the need for estrogen. But can we also reduce our cholesterol with fasting or diet. Will that help at all? Mine has always been normal. I just turned 51 and found out all of a sudden it's 260! So annoying. I eat healthy.
This warrants a consultation. All of this makes perfect sense. But, if you're not getting this education by starting with video #1 and watching them all in order, you will sabotage your menopause education and your ability to manage it successfully. A consultation is a shortcut to getting it all tailored specifically to YOU. I do them all online.
It all depends on the woman and the circumstances, my dear. I can assess this for YOU in a consultation, which you can schedule at MenopauseTaylor.ME. You probably have a lot more options than you expect. I would love to help you discover them.
Always listen to your BODY, not to labs. For your body, it's all really simple: If your body has enough estrogen: (1) You should have zero symptoms of estrogen deficiency. (2) You should not lose any bone. (3) Your lipid studies should be stable from year to year. So, you can treat your body or you can treat the lab. By definition, "menopause" is when your estrogen disappears. So the "normal" lab value is 0. If that's the case, which lab and which human gets to decide what the "right" lab value should be?

Wow! This is phenomenal. Thank you so much for helping me help women. You are a true menopause ambassador.
Wow, that's awesome!
My point being that I think it is possible that we can teach young, unbiased medical students the facts without the fear. Why should we be held back “forever” by those who give in to fear and prefer to stay ignorant of all the facts? After watching a video of yours last year, at the age 54 I had a DEXA scan. To my shock I already had osteopenia. That is with me taking estrogen for a year and a half prior.
So what did your doctor recommend? Higher dose of estrogen or something else? Now I want a DEXA scan. 😔

I have dry skin, collagen loss, vaginal dryness and I am now just asking about estrogen replacement. I am so glad I found you. I just hope it’s not too to start taking.

And, I am, too! I love making a positive difference in your life.
Loved this video and I am looking forward to the next 🌻💛💚 Thank you beautiful, intelligent, generous Dr Barbie Taylor 🙏⭐🙏

Definitely schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I can help you so much.

If you want a shortcut AND want me to tailor everything specifically to YOU, just schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I do them al via video.
I was reading about the study recently published in Nature by the Mount Sinai research team that found a connection between high FSH levels and increased Alzheimer’s risk in post menopausal woman.
@@maidakreis8093 But the study did not include HRT, and your comment did.
@Maida Kreis Except the study said nothing about estrogen, just that their findings suggested post menopausal women FSH binds with FSHR increasing fat and perhaps neurodegenerative diseases.

Can you explain this estrogen dominance during peri menopause. That this balancing act.
“Estrogen Dominance”
The whole theory of “estrogen dominance” was made up by Dr.
How men's body ages then?
Not equally to women’s 😐
Men never lose all their testosterone. But women do lose all their estrogen. That's why we have menopause and they do not.
😀😀😀 Thank you
You're so welcome, my dear.

@@bonniek7228 I school you in precisely how to go about getting what you want without burning your bridges.
It's been a few years, but weight training in menopause when you are on HRT...will it build bone mass?
Sadly it doesn’t sound like it.
NO!!!! Estrogen prevents bone loss. It does not replace bone.
If you've already lost bone, all the exercise in the world can't replace it.
PLEASE, PLEASE, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I will make sure you know exactly what will and will not accomplish your goals. I do them all via video.

😥😥😥😭
You talk a lot about estrogen deficiency but what about when estrogen is too high like 195 at post menopause
Always listen to your BODY, not to labs.
For your body, it's all really simple: If your body has enough estrogen:
(1) You should have zero symptoms of estrogen deficiency.
