Yes, thank you. I am trying to review these as they were released without referencing later, more thorough releases. So eventually, when I get to the 2000s, I’ll review that complete show. Thanks though….
IMO the whole Bolin arm thing seems trumped up by the other band members when denigrating this release; some of the stuff I've read suggests that Bolin healthy or otherwise wasn't too interested in the pre-Mark IV material to begin with, not sure the injured arm has as big an impact on his performance as one might be led to believe (by the way, there is live footage of this concert & he doesn't appear to be too out of sorts); his solo on Burn--which I really enjoy--is similar to other concerts from that era; as far as material that could have been swapped for the old stuff, they would play Drifter, Dealer, Gettin' Tighter, This Time Around/Ode To G, Love Child & Lady Luck on this tour.
Check out the Long Beach Arena 1976 show. It was released in 1995 as ”On The Wings of Russian Foxbat” it also has been released as the King Biscuit Show release. Far better show!
I totally agree with Hughes. It was a money grab from the management. It’s pretty ugly when you release an off night featuring a musician who has recently passed. You release an album where that musician is below par and then you dedicate the album to him! Highly cynical.
hey the full show was released on cd on 2001as this time around live in tokyo75 and includes 6 extra cuts from come taste the band
