I knew about Tommy as he was 3 years older than me and he and his brothers went to school with my high school girlfriend at the time. I was just learning electric guitar and he was one of my heroes from back in the day. I saw him play when he was in his prime and healthy. Great guitarist.
I remember going to The Draught House at 88th and Washington in Thornton Colorado, where Tommy Bolin and Energy played in the 70s. I also saw him backing up Chuck Berry at a concert in Denver.
While working with Siouxland Jams in Sioux City, I was so thrilled doing Tommy Bolin Festivals. I also lived in the house the Bolins grew up in, with Johnie (who had told me I was like a brother to him). I won't say "R.I.O Johnnie" because I know him and Tommy are jammin' again with the rest of his family right along side then. As for Tommy's music...it's ALL good. My favorite albums are Bang & Private eyes. One note I would like to mention, that wasn't mentioned in this video is that Tommy also audition with Fleetwood Mac before Buckingham & Nicks were brought on board.
Wow thanks Mike for sharing ❤ How lucky you are to have known Tommy and his family personally. How cool would it have been if Tommy played with Fleetwood Mac! Thanks again I appreciate you 🥰

Big Blackmore fan..... But when Tommy replaced Ritchie I was first skeptical.....after buying and listening to Come Taste The Band I was totally sold on Tommy! One of the most underrated guitarist, singer, songwriters of our time.😢
