It's also shown that asymptomatic carriers are somewhat common. These are probably the reason they got overrun, not because they couldn't mow some zombies down.

Probably the helicopter pilot got infected because one of his passengers are carrier of the virus. It was stated in the L4D comics that the virus mutates rapidly and sometimes is airborne and sometimes is not. This was prove on the L4D comic where the helicopter pilot that evac bill, Louis, Francis and Zoe turn into a zombie.
He wasn't military he was piloting a normal helicopter also he was just evacuating like ragtag groups of survivors to an unknown spot maybe to a safe house
To be honest, CEDA did a shitty job at controlling public panic. Not even their hired private security agents could handle the crowds. The military on the other hand seemed to be doing pretty well, much better than CEDA anyway. Their outposts were overrun but still, they did pretty decent at controlling the outbreak
I think Ceda and the military are morally divided seeing one side wants to save people, the other wants to take the safest route and just kill people in the area. I can understand why because the virus is so unpredictable seeing it goes through protection( If it was just zombies I think it wouldn't be a problem).

I read a book series called “day by day”, and there’s a part where the main character comes across information that says the US Army and Air Force as a whole suffered 70% losses while the Marine Corps and Navy evacuated to the sea once control of the mainland was lost to the dead, so they didn’t take nearly as many losses

In the original Payday: The Heist, there was a mission called "No Mercy" where you would go to Mercy hospital and draw blood from someone infected with the green flu and try to sell it to the military when they start firing missiles at the building to eliminate the infection and the payday gang but fail to eliminate either when both escaped.
Multiple factors people forget -Soldiers only carry 270-300 rounds of ammunition. -What do you do when the bodies pile up, your fuel runs out, etc? Logistics will start falling apart -If the virus is airborne, what do you do when your soldiers start turning? (Not applicable in all scenarios -The military is trained for bodyshots, and expect people to drop after 1-2, and for those people to use cover, etc. In this situation, they’re relentless and can get shot and not react. -Aircraft won’t solve everything, they’re stationed around the world, and you have to get fuel, ordinance, etc. Not everything is instantious -Soldiers are going to be reluctant to follow orders to shoot their own citizens, at least initially. -Civilians are going to flee to the military, and now they have to worry about who is infected, who’s already turned, and who isn’t infected. -Is that a drunken hobo shambling down the street or is that someone about to kill me? -People aren’t going to want to shoot friends, family, etc. Heres a radio transcript from a zombie game, and it makes a good point. about the aircraft part, i agree it won’t solve anything however they can definitely help out, they can probably be used to keep hordes and special infected at bay by using aircraft like Apache helicopters or AC130s, they can also use the airforce to destroy crossing areas for potential zombies like bridges and tunnels, not to mention they can also provide fire support for nearby soldiers or evacuation helicopters, either way yes they won’t solve anything but they will definitely help and also i feel like realistically if a zombie apocalypse did happen irl the UN would come to help
Just the sheer numbers of infected makes them a fearsome foe. Airborne on top of that and it's kinda hard to keep people organized. Most soldiers are kids fresh out of school, how are they gonna handle thousands of bodies and friends turning
@@bluscout1857 Firstly, I think you vastly overestimate both the numbers and effectiveness of the AC-130. It was a purpose built aircraft for Vietnam that didn't really have much utility outside of that theater, and as such, didn't see much use after the Vietnam war was over. Helicopters don't typically carry bombs, with most attack helicopters not even being able to mount them, and rockets are pretty ineffective against infantry, on account of their relatively small explosive payload. Really, the only reason rockets have ever been used against infantry is as a psychological weapon. If you've ever heard a Katyusha firing, you know what I'm talking about. There are tons of accounts of inexperienced German soldiers being scared shitless by them, but the experienced guys actually were more relaxed than when they were under gun artillery fire, since they knew how ineffective they actually were. Regarding destroying bridges and the like, that's what combat engineers are for. Much quicker to deploy and the only reason a team of combat engineers would consume fuel is if one of them drinks from the wrong jerry can
I would like to play a zombie game where you start as a Military officer, and have a unit or platoon of Soldiers under your command in a small town, army or NG, and you lose contact with command and from there have to either protect your troops, protect the townsfolk, or just leave with the unit, and you choose how to handle thigns in the early days, either being hardcore, tyrranical, working with or conscripting people, Police, or other groups, raiding or building up and clearing towns ETC as you go around and either try to just survive, or build an army, to either be a warlord, try to reestablish a civillian government, or try find others around the country. Because you are government andm ilitary you can get access to tanks, apcs, helis, and serious hardware but unless you either have workers or have facilities, or both, you'll lose access to more advanced things early on, and forces you to really plan their deployment. Like do you try take over the small town to supply yourself, and as that happens it's chaos because infection is going on, so do you start kicking in doors and getting civvies together as militia? Will that cause resentment, panic, and chaos? IS it worth it? IF you're an army do you make a new civillian government to serve or go junta until emergency is over? Do you abandon post or stick around and do your duty? How do you handle survivor camps? Do you force them to give you their guns and supplies? Do you conscript them? What if they refuse, do you kill them all? What is the line you draw in the sand to get shit done?
Something like this sounds to good to ever be made, zombie games will always be uneven it's sad but if obsidian ever makes a zombie game I'm 100% sure it'll have one thing missing but at least we would be able to have multiple paths to take
This is something that I have been wishing for years ago but well, no design nor engine will probably be able to handle all of those mechanics. Give or take 3 - 10 years and there'll be something like it.
The real reason why the Military struggled was because most of their troops weren't carriers. As we see them in gameplay in large hordes of common infected. A lot of them were not immune, and some were killed before they could turn, or were carries and were killed in action due to being overwhelmed. The virus can also be airborne, so while they kill any hordes and survive/not attacked to become infected manually, the virus will infected them upon the air they breath, so they'll randomly turn in front of their troops attacking their own allies, and any random horde nearby by appear, or they'll all kill each other and eventually turn like the rest. They also have to worry about reloading after spraying their entire magazine, switching to their side-arm, eventually having no choice to reload, which may get them killed while attempting. Their main worry is: Immunity, Ammunition, Space, Population, Armory, Infection rate, Shelter, Backup, Airborne virus, Special infected, Raiders, Riots, Hordes, Evacuation, Checkpoints, Bases, Radio contact, etc.
I like to think the reason you see almost zero infected military uniforms in Left 4 Dead 2 (I said almost because of that one infected paratrooper in Swamp Fever) is because the military finally got their shit together and learned from their past mistakes. All this military equipment that was left behind was because they were forced to leave it as they make organized retreats against the hordes of infected.

Unless they had a new order to retreat once the first infection is spotted, due to the amount of risks, and sacrifices the soldiers did. I think as you said decided to take jack shit anymore and judt went to each checkpoint further away to the most "secure outpost" that would fire down a siege.

They couldn't risk who was who. The saferooms are also most likely carriers were escorted to the buildings, and shot dead secretely, as people imply on the walls to kill the carriers, implying the carriers will just spread further chaos, as it is known the U.S. Military took the carriers else where, away from un-infected people.
Fucking-A, that's an actually well thought up comment. I got so frustrated reading a guy saying "Well the military wouldn't have been overrun" and when presented with arguments he'd say shit like "yeah, I'm aware." without even putting any thought into actually replying with a counterargument. I think the infection being air-borne and highly infectious and mutagenic already tips the scale in favor of the infected so early on. The south in L4D2 generally fared a lot better than Pennsylvania (and probably the rest of the Northeast too), you actually see successful CEDA evacuations (Dead Center and Whispering Oaks) and there are hints that the towns you see in Swamp Fever and Hard Rain that held their ground and the remaining survivors had the same idea of going to New Orleans. The fact that there are more graffitis in L4D1 than in 2, probably meant that more people spent more time in safe houses and were sitting ducks instead of trying to move. Also something curious is that the military base from the Sacrifice comic had no idea of special infected, and it appears it was cut off before the game even began. Meanwhile in the Vannah in L4D2 you see that CEDA had a conference room where they knew of the special infected, had captured a boomer and even knew the conversion rates of most special infected, but didn't know about the witch for some reason. Makes me wonder if the CEDA and military efforts in the north of the east coast were abandoned in favor of trying to hold the south and that's why New Orleans held out as much as it did.

Do note regarding facemasks: it doesn't necessarily indicate that it's airborne, but facemasks provide protection to prevent bodily fluids from getting into your mouth. Effectively a splashguard for your mouth and nose.
I have a theory that the Marines were mostly the ones doing operations in the south (L4D2). That's why the humvees are a different color variant from the regular army ones you see in L4D (could possibly be Marines pulled from oversea operations to help contain the infection). You can also clearly see all the Marine equipment being used throughout the L4D2 campaign like the CH-53 Sea Stallion (used both in Dead Center and The Parish), both of which are commonly known to be used within the Marines. It makes sense too, the South is near waters which the Marines usually operate in.

In the comic it seemed that from conversations between the soldiers and the survivors, that the military seemed to originally have disregarded CEDA's information regarding the special infected.
I’d like if left for dead 3 would make a campaign or DLC where you play as a military personnel and have to defend and rescue civilians and be able to do multiplayer with evac copters that can be accessible for players or humvees also choose either an air mission or has he says you have to evac on a timing carpet bombing and escape before it’s to late but.also make it so we can see other parts of the world like Uk Iceland or France- a prequel to the game, something similar to the 4th survivor on RE2, showing how your squad got wiped out with you being the last man standing

That's never explained. But, it's clear the military survived, they go into a containment state at that point where the ground forces lose control of mainland areas. It's at that point a priority to engage in containing North America, so I safely assume the US pulled out of the mainland and made sure the US was quarantined.

The problem in movies and games is that there are too much infected. In the walking dead when Rick came the first time too Atlant, there was a shit ton of infected zombies. Frank Darabont, one of the producers from the walking dead. He planed to do a whole episode on the fall of Atlanta from the military perspective(something like 28 weeks later when the outbreak happend). He had a scenario that would follow a unit of soldiers that were droped in the city just when the military started to get over-run by the infected. It would mostly focus on one soldier. The camera would act similary like in saving private ryan. When Rick came inside the tank in Atlanta. He found a zombie and that zombie was suposed to be the one that Frank Darabont wanted to do in the first episode of season 2 of the walking dead. But sadly he got firerd just before season 2.

The amazing part of this channel, is the fact we learn a looot from L4D with searching "only" what is in each cammpaign, and when we get to a video like that showing information all around the game we didn't notice it just makes sense. I’ve been wondering what happened to the Payday gang after No Mercy. They met Bill in Mercy Hospital presumedly going for a knee surgery then Bill had to fight his way out to escape from tons of infected in the hospital.
I can see a wall stretching from Arizona to Canada in the west, like the wall of China except for its America's wall to stop the infected. Think the ending scene from the resident evil movies that had the white house with heavy defenses and walls, except it's a massive wall stretching for miles with multiple sections in case of a breach and fitted with artillery, heavy air support, and long-range weapons. Also shouldn't the Navy be bombarding the coastal cities? We dont see that, nor do we see the government, or the remnents of the army launching nukes at the lost cites.

Seoul Station is a Prequel but there's no connection to the *TTB* only the prequel explains how the outbreak started in various places. But the sequel probably takes place in Busan where Doc's,Soldiers and the Goverment are working on a cure, to buy some time to figure out to reverse the spread. Well mercy hospital has X-rays of the spitters neck possibly insinuating that the mutations started before zombification, or more likely were of its corpse. Also the church guy says “has it really been an hour? I must be immune….. no, no I.. That’s because this the same procedure for most epidemics or pandemics, it’s happened hundreds of times before in real life all over the world and is just the normal progression. The only difference with Covid is that it’s heavily covered by the media and decently widespread. But the 2009 pandemic went pretty much the same, I mean 1.4 billion people got infected but now of days people barely even remember it

Probably the helicopter pilot got infected because one of his passengers are carrier of the virus.
It was stated in the L4D comics that the virus mutates rapidly and sometimes is airborne and sometimes is not.
This was prove on the L4D comic where the helicopter pilot that evac bill, Louis, Francis and Zoe turn into a zombie.

To be honest, CEDA did a shitty job at controlling public panic. Not even their hired private security agents could handle the crowds. The military on the other hand seemed to be doing pretty well, much better than CEDA anyway. Their outposts were overrun but still, they did pretty decent at controlling the outbreak
I think Ceda and the military are morally divided seeing one side wants to save people, the other wants to take the safest route and just kill people in the area. I can understand why because the virus is so unpredictable seeing it goes through protection( If it was just zombies I think it wouldn't be a problem).

I read a book series called “day by day”, and there’s a part where the main character comes across information that says the US Army and Air Force as a whole suffered 70% losses while the Marine Corps and Navy evacuated to the sea once control of the mainland was lost to the dead, so they didn’t take nearly as many losses

Multiple factors people forget
-Soldiers only carry 270-300 rounds of ammunition.
-What do you do when the bodies pile up, your fuel runs out, etc? Logistics will start falling apart
-If the virus is airborne, what do you do when your soldiers start turning? (Not applicable in all scenarios
-The military is trained for bodyshots, and expect people to drop after 1-2, and for those people to use cover, etc. In this situation, they’re relentless and can get shot and not react.
-Aircraft won’t solve everything, they’re stationed around the world, and you have to get fuel, ordinance, etc. Not everything is instantious
-Soldiers are going to be reluctant to follow orders to shoot their own citizens, at least initially.
-Civilians are going to flee to the military, and now they have to worry about who is infected, who’s already turned, and who isn’t infected.
-Is that a drunken hobo shambling down the street or is that someone about to kill me?
-People aren’t going to want to shoot friends, family, etc.

It was an evacuation to reorganize and plan to strike back. The US Military would likely have to do it just to have everything ready, evacuations of civilians and then pull out the military, hold the line, and once they have a grip on it, Start taking out the infected.

about the aircraft part, i agree it won’t solve anything however they can definitely help out, they can probably be used to keep hordes and special infected at bay by using aircraft like Apache helicopters or AC130s, they can also use the airforce to destroy crossing areas for potential zombies like bridges and tunnels, not to mention they can also provide fire support for nearby soldiers or evacuation helicopters, either way yes they won’t solve anything but they will definitely help

@@bluscout1857 Firstly, I think you vastly overestimate both the numbers and effectiveness of the AC-130. It was a purpose built aircraft for Vietnam that didn't really have much utility outside of that theater, and as such, didn't see much use after the Vietnam war was over. Helicopters don't typically carry bombs, with most attack helicopters not even being able to mount them, and rockets are pretty ineffective against infantry, on account of their relatively small explosive payload. Really, the only reason rockets have ever been used against infantry is as a psychological weapon. If you've ever heard a Katyusha firing, you know what I'm talking about. There are tons of accounts of inexperienced German soldiers being scared shitless by them, but the experienced guys actually were more relaxed than when they were under gun artillery fire, since they knew how ineffective they actually were. Regarding destroying bridges and the like, that's what combat engineers are for. Much quicker to deploy and the only reason a team of combat engineers would consume fuel is if one of them drinks from the wrong jerry can
I would like to play a zombie game where you start as a Military
officer, and have a unit or platoon of Soldiers under your command in a
small town, army or NG, and you lose contact with command and from there
have to either protect your troops, protect the townsfolk, or just
leave with the unit, and you choose how to handle thigns in the early
days, either being hardcore, tyrranical, working with or conscripting
people, Police, or other groups, raiding or building up and clearing
towns ETC as you go around and either try to just survive, or build an
army, to either be a warlord, try to reestablish a civillian government,
or try find others around the country. Because you are government
andm ilitary you can get access to tanks, apcs, helis, and serious
hardware but unless you either have workers or have facilities, or both,
you'll lose access to more advanced things early on, and forces you to
really plan their deployment. Like do you try take over the small town
to supply yourself, and as that happens it's chaos because infection is
going on, so do you start kicking in doors and getting civvies together
as militia? Will that cause resentment, panic, and chaos? IS it worth
it? IF you're an army do you make a new civillian government to serve
or go junta until emergency is over? Do you abandon post or stick
around and do your duty? How do you handle survivor camps? Do you
force them to give you their guns and supplies? Do you conscript them?
What if they refuse, do you kill them all? What is the line you draw
in the sand to get shit done?

The real reason why the Military struggled was because most of their troops weren't carriers. As we see them in gameplay in large hordes of common infected. A lot of them were not immune, and some were killed before they could turn, or were carries and were killed in action due to being overwhelmed. The virus can also be airborne, so while they kill any hordes and survive/not attacked to become infected manually, the virus will infected them upon the air they breath, so they'll randomly turn in front of their troops attacking their own allies, and any random horde nearby by appear, or they'll all kill each other and eventually turn like the rest. They also have to worry about reloading after spraying their entire magazine, switching to their side-arm, eventually having no choice to reload, which may get them killed while attempting.
Their main worry is:
Immunity,
Ammunition,
Space,
Population,
Armory,
Infection rate,
Shelter,
Backup,
Airborne virus,
Special infected,
Raiders,
Riots,
Hordes,
Evacuation,
Checkpoints,
Bases,
Radio contact,
etc.
I like to think the reason you see almost zero infected military uniforms in Left 4 Dead 2 (I said almost because of that one infected paratrooper in Swamp Fever) is because the military finally got their shit together and learned from their past mistakes. All this military equipment that was left behind was because they were forced to leave it as they make organized retreats against the hordes of infected.

Unless they had a new order to retreat once the first infection is spotted, due to the amount of risks, and sacrifices the soldiers did. I think as you said decided to take jack shit anymore and judt went to each checkpoint further away to the most "secure outpost" that would fire down a siege.
@@unclelarry8842 It also explains why the Parish had a lot of un-infected corpses as the citizens began to panic and riot against/flee from the incoming infected forcing the U.S. Personnel to go into a desperate need of action, forcing them to shoot everything like in 28 weeks later scene. They couldn't risk who was who. The saferooms are also most likely carriers were escorted to the buildings, and shot dead secretely, as people imply on the walls to kill the carriers, implying the carriers will just spread further chaos, as it is known the U.S. Military took the carriers else where, away from un-infected people.
Fucking-A, that's an actually well thought up comment. I got so frustrated reading a guy saying "Well the military wouldn't have been overrun" and when presented with arguments he'd say shit like "yeah, I'm aware." without even putting any thought into actually replying with a counterargument. I think the infection being air-borne and highly infectious and mutagenic already tips the scale in favor of the infected so early on. The south in L4D2 generally fared a lot better than Pennsylvania (and probably the rest of the Northeast too), you actually see successful CEDA evacuations (Dead Center and Whispering Oaks) and there are hints that the towns you see in Swamp Fever and Hard Rain that held their ground and the remaining survivors had the same idea of going to New Orleans. The fact that there are more graffitis in L4D1 than in 2, probably meant that more people spent more time in safe houses and were sitting ducks instead of trying to move.
Also something curious is that the military base from the Sacrifice comic had no idea of special infected, and it appears it was cut off before the game even began. Meanwhile in the Vannah in L4D2 you see that CEDA had a conference room where they knew of the special infected, had captured a boomer and even knew the conversion rates of most special infected, but didn't know about the witch for some reason. Makes me wonder if the CEDA and military efforts in the north of the east coast were abandoned in favor of trying to hold the south and that's why New Orleans held out as much as it did.

I have a theory that the Marines were mostly the ones doing operations in the south (L4D2). That's why the humvees are a different color variant from the regular army ones you see in L4D (could possibly be Marines pulled from oversea operations to help contain the infection).
You can also clearly see all the Marine equipment being used throughout the L4D2 campaign like the CH-53 Sea Stallion (used both in Dead Center and The Parish), both of which are commonly known to be used within the Marines.
It makes sense too, the South is near waters which the Marines usually operate in.
F/A-18E are used by the Navy, not the marines.

I’d like if left for dead 3 would make a campaign or DLC where you play as a military personnel and have to defend and rescue civilians and be able to do multiplayer with evac copters that can be accessible for players or humvees also choose either an air mission or has he says you have to evac on a timing carpet bombing and escape before it’s to late but.also make it so we can see other parts of the world like Uk Iceland or France- a prequel to the game, something similar to the 4th survivor on RE2, showing how your squad got wiped out with you being the last man standing

I can’t believe valve hasn’t done more with this awesome game or sold rights to someone who could. It’s got so much potential to continue to be a big hit. Not like cod or gears of war big but a step behind that. It’s mind boggling.
Sadly the only L4D update in recently years in terms of lore was in Dead By daylight for Bill. As someone who grew up playing these games, it really made me upset
very late but - selling the rights to others would be a big mistake, a huge reason for l4d2 being so amazing is their attention to detail, gaben is the guy that delayed half life a good few years to try and make a working moss system - if l4d was made by others, it'd likely end up as back 4 blood, if not worse
tho yeah, the game is finished and it doesnt seems like they intend to make any sequels anytime soon, but who knows, maybe someday

That's never explained. But, it's clear the military survived, they go into a containment state at that point where the ground forces lose control of mainland areas. It's at that point a priority to engage in containing North America, so I safely assume the US pulled out of the mainland and made sure the US was quarantined.

The problem in movies and games is that there are too much infected. In the walking dead when Rick came the first time too Atlant, there was a shit ton of infected zombies. Frank Darabont, one of the producers from the walking dead. He planed to do a whole episode on the fall of Atlanta from the military perspective(something like 28 weeks later when the outbreak happend). He had a scenario that would follow a unit of soldiers that were droped in the city just when the military started to get over-run by the infected. It would mostly focus on one soldier. The camera would act similary like in saving private ryan. When Rick came inside the tank in Atlanta. He found a zombie and that zombie was suposed to be the one that Frank Darabont wanted to do in the first episode of season 2 of the walking dead. But sadly he got firerd just before season 2.
Doctor Hugo Strange still wouldn’t matter since walkers are relatively are easy to kill, so even if their are a lot of them a drone strike would easily kill a huge hunk of walkers

The amazing part of this channel, is the fact we learn a looot from L4D with searching "only" what is in each cammpaign, and when we get to a video like that showing information all around the game we didn't notice it just makes sense. Wow Such Gaming is amazing, I am really glad I found this channel!

I can see a wall stretching from Arizona to Canada in the west, like the wall of China except for its America's wall to stop the infected. Think the ending scene from the resident evil movies that had the white house with heavy defenses and walls, except it's a massive wall stretching for miles with multiple sections in case of a breach and fitted with artillery, heavy air support, and long-range weapons.
Also shouldn't the Navy be bombarding the coastal cities? We dont see that, nor do we see the government, or the remnents of the army launching nukes at the lost cites.
Well to be fair, the entire East coast fell, and most of their navy that's available would be on the West, making it unfeasible for them to bring their navy to blow the infected to kingdom come.
I don't know about nukes though, radioactive fallout with a highly mutative virus sounds very nasty.

Seoul Station is a Prequel but there's no connection to the *TTB* only the prequel explains how the outbreak started in various places. But the sequel probably takes place in Busan where Doc's,Soldiers and the Goverment are working on a cure, to buy some time to figure out to reverse the spread. Well mercy hospital has X-rays of the spitters neck possibly insinuating that the mutations started before zombification, or more likely were of its corpse. Also the church guy says “has it really been an hour? I must be immune….. no, no I.. I have to be immune” so does that imply zombification is different for every individual or that specials take longer to mutate?

The only difference with Covid is that it’s heavily covered by the media and decently widespread. But the 2009 pandemic went pretty much the same, I mean 1.4 billion people got infected but now of days people barely even remember it
