    Keep it coming please! Also, you skipped synchronization values explaining . Could you please elaborate ? im a little confused for what those settings (slow, default, common, or off) do. I know in theory they are tailored for specific framerates, but I don´t really understand them, please elaborate

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i will make a video on synchronization :)
      common = for 60fps games, eg CoD of BF
      slow = for 30fps games, eg Destiny
      default = the original xim4 feeling
      off = the xim sends the inputs as fast as possible, this doesnt necessarily give the best results.
      i would recommend you to use common or default.

    I was using 16k-20k (Lancehead and Basilisk V2) for a while and I noticed there were moments where tracking, recoil management, and snapping to targets were harder to do. I would go too fast and while shooting I would move off target when I did not mean to. Btw I don't use aim assist so those bad movements are mainly from the movements I would have to make to move right. I'll keep you all posted if there is a significant change.
    Edit: I dropped to 4500 DPI and it has improved my aim tremendously. It feels just right and it doesn't knock my aim off from small movements like with 16k-20k.

      Ado Ten yes

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Definitely try it, however you basically have the perfect setup for high dpi so the only difference in your case would be the aim assist behavior. 12000 dpi will reduce the aim assist while 4000 dpi would slightly increase it. Since RB6 doesnt have any aim assist though you should theoretically have the very same accuracy with 12000 dpi than with 4000 dpi. The mouse movement behavior will slightly change though between the two dpi values, 12000 will feel more granular while 4000 will be a little bit snappier. I play RB6 with 3200 dpi for example although my mouse also offers up to 12000 dpi.

      @@XIMCentral Thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate how you're dedicated to this, even though you're asked the same questions all over again ! Thanks mate.
      I tried 4k dpi for a few days, tried different sync settings, and eventually did go back to 12k default sync as it felt more playable to me. But as I watched your other videos I did a big discovery : I was playing with a too high sensitivity that I thought was good for my playing style but that actually I couldn't handle. I lowered everything and it's night and day !
      For everyone who's struggling finding the good settings : set the dpi the highest depending on your mouse pad type, then lower your sensitivity to the point you'll do a 360° going all the way across the pad (watch the sensitivity tutorial). First give it a shot for a few hours and you'll see !

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      no this is not possible, but you can do something else. get a ruler and measure the distance you need to make a full 360° turn in your PC game. then launch your xim and adjust your xim sensitivity so you also do a 360° turn with the same distance :)
      i recommend to move the mouse very slowly so the result is accurate.

    for me, in fortnite, with a high end g900 mouse i feel the 500hz, 500 polling has the least amount of jitter at 4k dpi, steel mouse pad, interesting to try a plastic one though like the video says. there is a pretty big difference betwen a clean mouse pad and not as well as oils can build up from sweating. i clean mine twice a week. it helps. great informative video, man nice work!

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      if your mouse runs best with 500hz then this could indicate that it struggles to send a constant 1000hz signal, whenever you mouse drops lower than 1000hz it will cause jitter with the xim. here you have a website where you can test if your mouse runs steady 1000hz, move your mouse very fast in circles:
      zowie.benq.com/en-eu/support/mouse-rate-checker.html
      in general i would recommend you to use 500hz though, theres hardly any benefit from going with 1000hz instead :)

  • @jpnmasochist
    @jpnmasochist 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you want the best setup your going to have to calibrate the settings based off each piece of hardware per game. Screen resolution to dpi to fps, polling rate to USB port refresh rate, and ideal dpi settings for the mouse vs mouse pad/surface. Then finally in game settings vs xim sensitivity vs ballistic curve to acquire a comfortable high precision setup. Take your time and tune one thing at a time. My trick is to max a setting out, test aim to see its effects, then reduce it to usable settings to learn what each setting does to your input. There is no cut and paste setting that covers everyone's equipment variety. So learning what works and doesn't is up to each user. The xim requires attention in settings and in return will grant you fantastic aim.

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that would be ideal, that way you have a config setup that is fully meets your needs the best.

      Hey, those are really sub-optimal settings. Your xim is not a pc and requires a lot of dpi, 3000 dpi is the minimum you want to use to avoid micro-stutter. Increase your dpi and reduce your xim sensitivity, then its a really good config setup.

      Hey, as seen in this video you should first drop your dpi to 3000-4000 dpi as cloth pads such as the qck+ dont work very well with more dpi. As for your polling rate there is a test that you can do to find out if the mouse runs better on 1000hz or 500hz, here you can find the test: th-cam.com/video/SPWwpB9jFa0/w-d-xo.html

      on friday i wanted to upload a fortnite video, the aim assist video should be out this this sunday if i get it done in time.
      until the polling/hz tutorial video is out here you have a short guide:
      1) plug your mouse to the pc set your mouse to 1000hz
      2) run this website: zowie.benq.com/en-eu/support/mouse-rate-checker.html
      3) now click into the website so it tells you your current mouse polling/hz
      4) move the mouse very very fast in circles and check the polling/hz counter
      5) if your mouse can perform steady 1000hz then the xim apex 1000hz mode is the best polling rate for you
      6) if your mouse drops to eg 990hz sometimes (or lower) then do the following:
      6a) keep your mouse at 1000hz and set your xim apex to 500hz with 0 smoothing
      6b) keep both, your mouse and your xim at 1000hz and add a smoothing of 3-7 to reduce the mouse jitter
      in these two cases, personally i would recommend to go with 6a) as it gives the better "pure" aim for better pc accuracy, 6b) will give you more aim assist if you prefer that (which is also fine tbh)

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, go with 3000-4000 dpi as that usually gives the best aim assist behavior. XY Ratio changes the sensitivity of your axes, you can make the X axis more sensitive than the Y axis or the other way round. Smoothing is explained here: th-cam.com/video/4bxH0cxQg4I/w-d-xo.html

    is the higher than 4000 dpi still relevant with the new steady aim feature and so on? or is something like 6000 dpi better with the new steady aim and other new features to help break in and out of the aim assist. ? another question. in the end, lower dpi works better with aim assist right?

      Yes lower dpi works better with the aim assist which is why 3000-4000 dpi is still ideal, even with the new xim settings such as steady aim :).

    I don't know what dpi is my mouse i just put the highest dpi and turn up sensitivity to max on both XIM APEX and the game and it is perfectly responsive. Feels better then gaming on PC. In games like Battlefield this feels very OP. Last mission storyline on Battlefield 4 i just run in to all enemies and head shot everyone within 10 seconds. That felt OP as with pad there is no way i kill enemies so fast.. They would shred me in to pieces... So far i tested it with XBox One X.. I also have XBox 360 slim waiting to be tested.. Both great gaming consoles and I have so many games i simply ditched after an hour of playing only because there was no Aim support nor Autoaim, and pad controls were extremely jumpy.. My mouse feels great when DPI is highest, game sensitivity highest, and XIM APEX sensitivity is 90. It aims like a beats! Eagles would be jealous. Aiming just got on to a whole new level.

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you go above 10-15 smoothing it will start to reduce your accuracy, its best to stay in a range of 0-10 :)
      if this range doesnt reduce your mouse jitter completely then you should consider to either play with 500hz instead of 1000hz, or use the xim sync feature common.

  • @EriksWorld14

    So what DPI would you recommend then? Start maybe at 4k and go from there - lowering it in increments?

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you try both, 3000 dpi and then 4000 dpi you will see that the mouse performance is identical, the only thing that will change is the aim assist behaviour. 3000 dpi will have more than 4000 dpi. So id just try both and stick with the one you like more, if you prefer a mixture between the two aim assist behaviours then go with 3500.
      So overall test 3000, 3500 and 4000. Testing more doesnt make that much sense anymore :).

    • @EriksWorld14
      @EriksWorld14 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see.
      A little background:
      - Mouse: Logitech G603 (w/ new hero sensor)
      - Mousepad: Corsair MM300
      - Keyboard: Corsair Wireless K63
      - 500Hz polling rate (both mouse and xim) --> per your recommendations and tests
      - Firmware: 20180501 **[Beta]
      - Software: 20180528 **[Beta]
      - Console: Xbox one
      I did a lot of experimenting recently switching back in forth between 4K DPI (12 Xim Sens) and 12K DPI (4 Xim sens). I switched between the two profiles (and corresponding Xim profiles) periodically with just a click from my mouse and keyboard hotkey. I used overwatch for my crude tests.
      (12K DPI & 4 Xim Sens)
      --> I found that the 12K DPI felt more 'natural'
      --> More responsive and connected in comparison to 4K
      This is what I am used to so I am a little fond of it.
      (4K DPI & 12 Xim Sens)
      --> felt more "soft" ; as if there was a dampening effect on some of my movements such that it made them feel less responsive but more 'fluid' (ie less jerky)
      --> not as connected as 12K
      --> definitely different feeling;
      --> I did not notice any improvement on aim assist. to be fair, i've never really had a problem with aim assist sticking
      I am conflicted with whether to stick to 4K DPI, and I am wondering if my experiences are normal/expected or if there is possibly something else occurring that is causing me to dislike 4K DPI. The decision to go back to 12K DPI would be a lot easier if your argument for a lower DPI wasn't so compelling. (e.g. the fact that 12K DPI works best with nearly perfect surfaces and is easily distorted by detritus). I WANT to like 4K DPI and am hoping that there is something wrong with my setup that is causing me to prefer a higher DPI.
      Sorry for the rant, I thoroughly enjoy your videos and your production quality is awesome!

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, your experience is exactly what you should have found out by testing, due to the higher scanning resolution of 12k dpi the mouse movements will feel slightly more direct. This comes from the micro-jitter that your cloth surface is causing, a minor mouse moevment will result the sensor in registering in several mouse inputs while with low dpi it will just scan one movement. If you move your mouse very slowly, say you want to make pixel-perfect micro adjustments you might notice the micro-jitter.
      The intensity of the jitter will overall depend on the quality of the cloth pad, if the surface is very flat with small fibres then you will notice less jitter than on a surface with a lower density of larger fibres.
      Now about the question what you should go with, id recommend you to stick with what feels better for you. Right now it sounds like your muscle memory got used to 12k dpi, so id stick with that for now. If you ever take a break from this specific game, OR you start a new one, then this is a good time to re-evaluate 3000 dpi as your brain will then experience an "undistorted" comparison between 12k and 3k dpi (since you are not used to the mouse behaviour in this game with either of the two).

    • @EriksWorld14
      @EriksWorld14 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for that lengthy and comprehensive reply! You are absolutely right about why it feels like 12K seems more direct, but considering I've only had the Xim for less than a month, I think it would benefit me to go ahead and make the transition over to 4K DPI as my mouse movements aren't refined and they shouldn't take precedent over the long term experience with my Xim. As always, you are a source of enlightenment and I am happy to have found your page. Thank you again! (:

      nein das liegt u.a. an der verbauten CPU deiner maus, die kann nicht die geforderte Leistung für 1000hz erbringen. das ist relativ normal und findest du bei fast allen namhaften mausherstellern. der preis einer maus würde deutlich ansteigen wenn nur makellose CPUs verbaut werden. sollte deine maus keine konstanten 1000hz liefern können dann stell sie auf 500hz (und das xim auch), die meisten PC profis spielen übrigens aus genau dem grund auch auf 500hz.

    Most people on TH-cam recommend max dpi like 12000 to 16000.Are they wrong or is it personal preference.i have to set my mouse up on a friend's computer before I take it home to use so would be handy to know

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They re actually wrong, from a mathematical point of view theres no gain in going above 3000-4000 dpi. So you can expcet the same tracking precision with 3000 dpi than with 16000. However a lot of mousepads arent made for 16000 dpi so its usually best to run 3000-4000 for a better tracking on the mousepad.

    Very late comment but I've use the xim3 for so long usually playing mw3. Sometimes, controller users gets better aim then me. Should I upgrade to Xim Apex for better, smooth , accurte aim? Also, what settings on mouse and Xim should I use for best PC like experience?

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The difference between a xim apex and a xim3 is quite noticeable, its more precise, only 1 millisecond delay and offers much more adjustment knobs. However this will not necessarily improve your aim by a large margin, one thing that most likely increases your accuracy a lot more is to find your personal best mouse sensitivity that works best for your dexterity. Most people tend to play with sensitivities that are too fast or too slow, see this tutorial on how to find your own best sensitivity with a xim. (can be done 1:1 with a xim3 too). • @worthybeast3598
      @worthybeast3598 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for replying . One more question. I watched your video on how to increase/decrease aim assist. Aim assist
      really help me out with accuracy. You said all these things increases it: 3-7 smoothing- 3k-4k dpi, common sync, 125-250 hz, and and an aim assist ballistic curve. With all these combined, how strong will the aim assist be?

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Only add the curve at the curve at the very end if the aim assist isnt strong enough yet, the reason is that the curve changes your mouse behaviour much more than any other setting and therefore will also decrease your overall accuracy (in return you have more aim assist). So definitely go like 250hz, sync common, smoothing 3-7 and 3000-4000 dpi first. If your mouse movements are too mushy then remove a bit of the smoothing or go with 500hz instead :).

    • @worthybeast3598
      @worthybeast3598 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok. Do you know the best aim assist settings for xim3? I appreciate the help

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The formular is the very same, the difference though is that xim3 is locked to 125hz and you cannot change the sync. So overall similar but less knobs to increase the aim assist, most notably the dpi, smoothing, ballistic curve and analogstick movement. The xim3 has two other things though: With boost you can reduce the aim assist, with acceleration you can slightly increase the aim assist without the need of a ballistic curve.

      all three can cause jitter, so you need to find the optimal settings for these. 3000-4000 is optimal for dpi, for polling i did a specific tutorial video that will allow you to find the best polling (its different for every mouse so i cannot say what works best for you), for synchronize you should use either default or common.

      Yes absolutly, you basically ignored every important apsect for your XIM to opperate as it should. If you want the best possible mouse movements you MUST always set your ingame sensitivity to maximum, and in most games you even need to set further ingame adjustments that you can find here:
      community.xim.tech/index.php?topic=43775.0
      Your XIM has been optimized for one specific ingame setting, if you use anything else it wont work well.

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  ปีที่แล้ว

      Less DPI will do that, try 800-1600 DPI. Dont expect an incredibly big difference though, a well trained eye will still spot the difference between a stick and a mouse. Its more about the way you aim with your mouse than the settings you use.

      i would try to google how to to it, there are usually two ways:
      1) the mouse has dpi buttons with which you can change the dpi
      2) you can configure the dpi via the mouse driver that the mouse uses, in this case the mouse needs onboard memory so that the changes can be saved on the mouse and therefore carry over to the xim

      if you cannot find a way to change your mouse dpi, and your xim sensitivity is much higher than 100 with noticeable stutter, then how about you maybe consider a mouse like the g203. its one of the cheapest logitech mice but offers extremly good value for the money. it has onboard memory, 12000 dpi max and can be configured via the logitech gaming driver.

    In a game like Rainbow six siege there's no aim assist so using a high dpi wouldn't matter would it? .and why do some admins at xim forums always say using the highest dpi will always be better? Just trying to figure this out. .thanks for your videos. They're amazing

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any DPI above 3000-4000 doesnt make your mouse movements better but will for the most part only change your aim assist behaviour. The general saying "use maximum dpi" comes from a simplification, its easier for a customer to understand "use maximum dpi" than saying "hey, 3000 dpi minimum so make sure you check that your mouse has that". Even average desktop mice come close to 3000 dpi nowadays so with this sentence you can make sure the customer doesnt suffer from low DPI problems.

    • @Snowy0123
      @Snowy0123 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      XIMGameplay ok,thanks. Great explanation. .I'm going to load a new config and try everything from 3k to 6k dpi and off,default and common sync..that's where I get kind of confused because I don't know which sync to use and usually don't want the hassle of finding my sensitivity after I change synchronization. It's kind of like having too many television channels, you end up changing the channel looking for something better instead of watching television, ,if that makes sense. .

    • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, sync is made to match your ingames framerate. slow = 30fps games, common = 60fps and default is around 120fps. Since most games are 60fps sync common usually gives the best mouse movements. Outside of that sync also affects aim assist, slow and common give the most aim assist while default or even off reduce it. (see more in my aim assist video tutorial). I heard RB6 works great with default.

    • @Snowy0123
      @Snowy0123 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      XIMGameplay it works great with default and off..that's why I keep bouncing back and forth. • @XIMCentral
      @XIMCentral  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a hardpad then you can go max dpi, the only difference then will be that 3000 dpi will give more aim assist compared to 12000 dpi. As for the 30fps, sync slow is what you want to try as its made for 30fps games. Common is for 60fps but can result in a better mouse performance, so try that too.
      As for your polling rate, this changes between every mouse so you have to try if your specific one can run 1000hz or not. Here you have my polling rate tutorial that shows you 3 methods on how you can test if your mouse runs better with 1000hz or 500hz:

      That curve is really helpfull in games with a slow maximum turnspeed. If your game doesnt have a slow turnspeed then i wouldnt use the curve as its not really needed. But overall yes the curve will increase your mouse sensitivity so it sounds fine that you reduced your dpi from 12000 to 5000 (which basically reduces your mouse sensitivity keep the same mouse speed with the curve than without the curve).
