    the fixation concept is very interesting.
    the array of issues that might arise from fixations is huge and vast beyond imagination.
    personally, I don't think he was spot on regarding his psychosexual fixations, but was touching important issues.

    Electra complex was not Freud's but Jung. Freud did not accept this idea of Jung and later Jung also abandoned this concept from his theory.

    • @LearnMyTest
      @LearnMyTest  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The issue is that what Freud considered "research" was case studies that were not generalizable and made assumptions without adequate testing. So I guess you could say there was research, but not very good research (or currently accepted research)in the field.

      Dominik Rodriguez there’s a lot of merits to his theories. Especially in regard to defence mechanisms. Also the phallic stage supports the common idea that we are generally much closer to our opposite sex parent.

    The confusion is. Was he saying that also a son can desire her mother sexually?

    • @derrickvaldez2165
      @derrickvaldez2165 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the son's fantasy/mind, yes

    • @MsChantae
      @MsChantae 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      tbh, I think it's more of the son's enthrallment with the mother than actually sexualizing the mother at such a young age, especially if the child has no concept of sex from ages 4-6. The son probably thinks that he loves or is in love with the mother more than the father and that's where the competition sets in.

      It's just a thoery. Most of psychology is just theorized, oversimplified concepts. The human psyche is very complicated, but although the field of psychology is built on a foundation of sand, these concepts can most times be quite useful in understanding the majority of psychological issues people face. So don't take it too seriously, but recognise that it has some uses.
