Got my pre-order in Heres what this system does Upscales to 4k, allows a de-blur option to get rid of the anti aliasing n64 games have. Lets you eliminate frame rate issues by letting you run games at the intended target frame rate because most n64 games did not run at the intended frame rates they are supposed to. Every n64 cartridge works, you can hook up original n64 controllers to it, has built in wifi for firmware updates, lets you use hybrid and pvm display options, if you want to and it supports VRR. I game on a 32 inch QD OLED and don't want to bother getting a CRT, this is for people who want a modern N64 and still own cartridges.
@kamikazilucas The analogue 3d upscales to 4k, i own the Super NT and the Mega SG from analogue, they go up to 1080p. The analogue 3D has a ton of features, there's a de-blur option to remove the anti-aliasing, you can run games at higher frame rates, so when you play four player goldeneye, the frame rate doesn't go down into the single digits. It has PVM, Hybrid and standard scanline options and I can tell you the Hybrid scanlines are really good and analogue does a good job at them, if you want to use them. This an Nintendo 64 for people who want to play from the catridge while also getting over the technical issues the n64 has.
Recently purchased a mint condition Nintendo 64, works just fine. It came with the power pack, AV cables, jumper pak, and no controller. It was a bundle cheap without the controller
If you still have old cartridges then it's worth it for you. If you didn't hold on to cartridges and gave all that old tech away, a windows computer is your best option. I'm emulating with a old TV.
...but why would you make a console that looks like the original and plays the original media, but not even include a separate output that does the original display resolution so you can play on a CRT?
The 3D if I remember correctly, is built on their newer fpga hardware so I got a gut feeling that they will bring back their Genesis and snes consoles with the newest fpga hardware and implement 4k just like the 3D. Sooner or later they are going to run out of consoles to recreate so what better way to take peoples money with a refreshed version of a previous releases, but then again I don't know if 4K can really improve 2d console games. Just a thought. 🤔
@@onetwo6039 and this is my question with all of this 4K talk, obviously the graphics can only be as good as they were when the games were made, so really are these systems just making the games playable on a 4K tv, isn’t it just an output resolution? The whole point of the Pocket is to produce a portable FPGA Gameboy player. FPGA is not just software emulation, the difference between them should not be understated. All of Analogue's catalog is FPGA, which is superior to software emulation.
The difference should absolutely not be understated. I still think it'll never be more than a niche hobby within the world of retro gaming. The vast majority are fine with emulation and have little interest in paying outrageous prices for cartridges that are decades old. But don't listen to this grumpy old man who can't afford to collect these wonderful games 😄
Hardware emulation via FPGA is not inherently superior to software emulation. They are simply different approaches with their own positives and negatives.
This is just me but I wish they came out with a dedicated hand held version that played N64 carts. I know there’s ones everyone can buy off eBay or AliExpress that are hack jobs of an old N64 motherboard but I want something dedicated and purpose built.
I admit there are a quite a few compatability issues wit N64 emulation. Even so, I think I'd prefer to emulate considering the performance issues this console has.

I've heard that this new Analogue console is 4k. The idea of playing an n64 game in 4k resolution is stupid. Old games never look good in high definitions. They were made with crt's and early led tv's in mind.
speak for yourself, I emulate most of my n64 library at 5x original resolution and they look and play great, more stable frame rates and less input latency. the Analogue 3D isn't emulation so it is an even nicer way to play the games at higher resolutions.
