In this fly tying tutorial Cheech ties the Glitter Minnow!
Yes yes we know... This is very similar to a sparkle minnow, and it also has a lot of similar parts that the Kreelex has, but we really wanted to see what happens when you combine them. This fly swims great and you can tie them in many different colors! Hareline's Shimmerbou is a really cool flash option that will swim much better than normal krystal flash, and it comes in many different colors. This is best tied in about a size 2 to 6 and you can vary the weight by adding more lead, or even tungsten beads to the shank of the hook.
Also, it's 12/5/2023 as I'm writing this and I'm predicting about 37 comments referencing the similarities to a sparkle minnow...

what's the story with the slotted cone bead? any reason not to use just a good ol' regular cone?

Slotted cones/beads make it easier to slip over barbs and around narrow hook bends.
