Couldn't help thinking about this song by Michael Murphey when you were talking to or about the fish. "Because he called the forest brother Because he called the earth his mother They drove him out into the rain And some people even said That the boy from the country was insane Because he spoke with fish in the creek He tried to tell us that the animals could speak And who knows, maybe they do Hey, how do you know they don't Just because they've never spoken to you" John Denver also sang it very well. Congrats on some awesome trout fishing....and talking. Great video!
You make the best fishing videos I've seen. You have a nack for putting us right there in the stream, where we'd all love to be. Beautiful country, beautiful fish, great videos. I'm hitting the river this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration!
I really enjoy your vids. I'd love you to do a tutorial on streamer fishing, particularly the type of leaders you use with different types of flies ( and lines ). I'd been fishing dries and dry droppers for years and years and really want to give it a go but it seems like a different world.
It is. You can use a floating line and a regular 6-7 wt rod like he does in his videos. That works good for smaller slower water. And some people like that for big rivers also but I personally fish a sinking line in bigger/deeper water. And you can fish weighted and un weighted streamers with the float line. But once again I personally like the sinking line. Then just start playing with it takes a little doing to really learn but you just want to make that minnow look real and like it’s moving from fast water to cover or slower water. Then when the train hits the hook will be set so hold on! I TH-cam’s how to set up a streamer rod when I got started. Fist day streamer fishing the whole day I netted 12 browns and 2 lake trout.
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I thought it was great! I have a magnetic retractable sling deal for my net and it’s helped me a ton. Last thing you want is to lose a fish because your net isn’t cooperating… 👍
Do you think one day we could get a vid on how you do your research and process for choosing new rivers? Obviously not asking you to tell me where you’re fishing, but I’m always looking for new streams and rivers that are off the beaten path but have a hard time researching them.
That looked like a solid couple of days of streamer fishing! Really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing. Now time for me to get out there and chase some!
Respect, you seem to really appreciate those fish and your fisherie , just by the way you handle them and get them back into the river. Hope for the future. Great fun .
I just got back from my first trip in Pisgah. Fished the Davidson and the south fork of the Mills. Completely struck out. But I still enjoy your videos. Thanks for the content.
Love your videos! You guys are awesome!!!!! Little suggestion though would be to buy 300 or 400 nets and attach the net you're going to use to your body somehow.
Quick tip, measure your pinky tip to your thumb tip spread out all the way and measure, that will always give you a base size to go off Helps when you want quick release👍😉
You did a great job side arming him. I would advise walking him into the slack water, simply by walking to shore. Best chance of him not getting away, and also a safe spot to land and photograph. The swift current works against you. Just finesse them towards the shore.
You use streamers to target and pick out the BIG fish. Fishing streamers tends to pick out the 16" + fish consistently since they become piscivorous (other fish as main food source - what you are imitating with streamers. You can fish streamers in ALL conditions and at ALL times but the best conditions are during cloudy/rainy/overcast days and especially good if these days are coupled with brown/high/dirty water and dusk/dawn and night time. Why you ask? It is the best chance that a big predatory brown has to nail baitfish etc since the visibility is low and they can ambush them. Low light + cloudy water - well the prey can't seem them coming.
dope vid brother! I got some low water levels up here with rain coming in tomorrow afternoon.....think I might just have to send streamers for the day!
Bruh, you always make a good vid. Always enjoy watching you. Come on Down to Boone and fish some of our waters here in the High Country. One thing I think would be cool would be to do some details about the streamers that you are using....maybe you do and I have missed it??!! Love what you are doing !!
can you come back to Arkansas..Little Red river Heber springs...great stream..large browns ..record fish caught there.. I was there when Rip Collins caught it..such a treat
Amazing video man, I’ve read wanted to start throwing streamers ever since I saw some of your older streamer vids. Do you run sink tip or floating line for your streamers?
Could you sometime do a tips video on streamers? When to use certain streamers? When to fish with them? Different ways to fish them? I love streamer fishing, I have gotten multiple big bows on them, but never a big wild brown. Also, have you ever tried night fishing with streamers? I really want to try it
I know you love fly fishing but a little advice if you wanna take it. Pectoral fin side you are holding awesome just please do not try to bring tail up at all. That is not natural position and you can separate tendons from bones and cartilage. And also try to get a rubber net, that one makes a lot of micro wounds that are great for bacteria, fungus attacks. Great videos as usual, advice is not ill intended.
I've never heard the thing about the tail! But I'll definitely pay more attention in the future. Also the net is rubber coated, It's just black. I haven't used a non-rubber coated net in probably 5+ years. But thanks for watching!
Do you have suggestions on what to use for your fly line and leader? The line you have looks so much more free flowing than what I have. It looks like you're able to cast much further because of it
can we just take a moment to appreciate the amazing shot of the splash at 18:35
Production value 10 of 10.

Looks like a lamprey scar on that third one. All beauties through, well done!
That last one was especially impressive. I am going to go with 21 1/4 or 21 1/8. A dream fish for just about anyone, including me.

I tried the new 3D lures that looked exactly like a tiny rainbow trout and caught browns like you wouldn't beleive
By what company?

You do what I do. Most of the time I am by myself. Got to talk to someone, or thing.

Biggest trout I ever caught was a big brown 7 pounds on a yellow muddler minnow I tied myself.
Amazing footage. What rod (length, weight) were you using? Looking at getting a heftier rod for river streamers and still water
Awesome job 👏
Haha I passed you in the road it was a great day
Hello, what is the streamer you were using? Are you just using regular fly line with long leader? thanks......
how happy and l here in New York grabbing bluegill cigars😎😎😎☻

I was using 12 pound floro for most of the video. Towards the end I have some 3x on though

Straight up floating for this type of fishing

Do you have suggestions on what to use for your fly line and leader? The line you have looks so much more free flowing than what I have. It looks like you're able to cast much further because of it
I use weight forward line it casts further when you make that forward cast. If I have the room I can cast that line 40+ yards
