I purchased the parts to build a 48 spoke wheelset from Teel Bikes. I've built over a dozen 26" and 29" MTB wheelsets with 28 and 32 spokes but never a 20" with 48 spokes. This video was a great resource and helped a lot. Thanks.
Helped a TON! Watched a bunch of vids, and this one was the most relatable for me. I've done 2 so far watching your vid. It's actually fun. Like a puzzle of sorts. And it also opens up of buying wheelsets for parts. Thanks again
We didn’t have TH-cam when I laced my first 48-spoke wheel. Best thing back then was to simply copy the lacing pattern of your other wheel. As long as the hubs were the same brand/flange style and the spokes were the same length, it was cake. 👍
Brilliant video, I’m just building some wheels on some home-made hubs for a soapbox car, following along to your video. Thanks for posting it, you’ve de-mystified the whole business for me. And contrary to what you said, your video was clear and easy to understand, you’re a better teacher than you give yourself credit for!
Rich the video was fantastic. I had to watch it a couple of times to understand what you were talking about but it was sufficient enough I was able to lace up my 48 hole unicycle wheel. And that's coming from the person who had trouble figuring out how to get a tire off a wheel at one time.
Need to place all spokes in the holes before completing a side. No room to maneuver otherwise, to put them through the holes. Other than that, this helped 👍🏻
Well done and RELATABLE, even for a fossilized old fart like myself. Now I can use the hubs I want on 48-hole rims for my recumbent trike. THANK YOU for sharing.
I have x3 48 spoke wheels here looking at,,,,,,,A 4x, a 3x and a 2x pattern. My 4x has the same space spoke holes as yours on the first inside to outside spoke =13 holes.......My 3x has 9 holes.....And my 2x has 5 holes... Just thought it might be of use to someone!
I tried your system it seems to work good so far but I'm running into your original reference spoke only goes over 2 spokes and doesn't proceed under any spoke That 1 spoke is not consistent with the rest of the pattern unless I'm missing something or if that's just how they land Also when you started your count For your reference spoke I didn't hear Nor could I see where you started counting for the 14th hole were you near the valve stem? But I just edited it and I don't have a window on mine I moved one spoke over and the rim is consistent all the way best video on this subject I've seen thanks man I thumbs it up too
I have an 20” old 48 spoke pro class rim I cut all then spokes off my rear rim how do I figure out how long of spokes I need? I believe they are 14 gauge

Just stumbled across this video. Any help on figuring out what size spokes you need?

This is a 4X Weave, I'm having an odd problem pattern. 2 short 2 long and repeats, I will have to try a 3X Weave, will update when resolved.
thx m8 so helpfull
Hi.. whats the length of the spoke in millimeters (mm) ? Thanks
Mine are all 178mm. Front and rear.
So is this considered a “4 cross” pattern? Trying to lace my alex triples 48. But I think I did 3x because I have too much spoke.
This is a three cross 48 spoke right? Because that is what I'm trying to do.
No its a 4X
can it be rims 48 and hub 36?
جميل
what brand that rim?
Thats how i know how to do it
