It's fun watching and hearing Grant in the background of Micah's videos and vice versa. Makes the videos feel like it's just a couple buddies out there playing dream courses and living their best lives.
You handled yourself so well out there today. Even your couple mistakes where you’d normally get down you sort of laughed at it. This course is so tough you have to laugh. I mean you guys can’t hold anything it’s so quick and they are literally mowing it around you speeding it up. This was a great video.
Loved the vid. Felt like an authentic round of golf. Trying to soak in the beautiful course while having fun yet wanting to shoot low. Hole 14 was relatable.
7:15: The 4th green used to be surrounded by ice plant. In those days (1980s-maybe 90s) no one could even drive near the green. Tour players (average drive: 250 yards) would still have a 50-100 yard wedge that had to be hit nearly perfectly to avoid the ice plant. I think they have removed all the ice plant from all the Monterey courses, it was just too difficult. Good times!
@@blakecramer1738 I'm guessing your golf game is about as good as your English skills. "No he's not" has no grammatical relevance as a response to the comment in question...
Hi Micah i clicked on this video because the picture is 18th at Sahalee Looks Awesome Very tough course and maybe the Hardest course I ever played was a few days after PGA Championship Wicked tight with deep deep rough played 10 strokes harder than usual some beasts lie awaiting you in the PNW
Played it in '22 for the first time and enjoyed it very much. Drove it great, hit my irons poorly, and putted well. Shot 76, but we played a hybrid of the back tees and the Golds. No wind that day, either. I drove it really well. It was obvious that if I hadn't, it would have been a much harder day.
I agree with Micah, Spyglass is one of the hardest golf course. I am now 5.5 index, but I was about 1.5 at that time when I played there. I was just astonished by the view at first upto 5 holes, then just remember seeing trees and trees..... this is definitely one of the hardest golf course I played.
This is course near by for me. Better than pebble and I stand by that. The greens are the hardest part. Them close little putts require all the attention to detail bang on and full through.
The video clarity was excellent. It showed the true beauty of the venue. Very good golf for a course rated as high as you will possibly see. Also nice seeing you and Garrett have made contact.
The look from Micah at 10:32 is the same look we give our buddy when he’s been in the tree the whole hole and says “put me down for a par” walking off the green 😂😂
Something about watching Micah has clicked with me lately. I was on the fence when he split from good good but now I am really enjoying the content. Keep it coming.
Love the vid and scores will be low once short game is like George. Played this year with my father and it was a blast. Shot a 75 from the tips but it was a grind. As you can see the course there is all about how good the misses are and your score can add up quick
Birdie on 16, respect! I used to play Spyglass Hill on PGA Tour 96, a PC DOS game and the 16th was the hardest hole by a long way, driver about 275 and then 2 or 3 iron to the green. Birdies were extremely rare. I always wanted to play there in real life but with those greens, I'm not so sure!
Played Spyglass twice about 35 years ago. Once from the tips. Shot 92 and didn't feel that i played that poorly. I remember hitting 3 wood on 16, while Tig hit wedge. It's a different world these days.Try persimmon and balatas there sometime.
Love the videos! I saw the switch to the TR red too. Love how it works for you. I know you aren't using it in this video. I went to graphite shafts before and I had to adjust the swing weight because of how much it changed. But great for playing. Wish I could play the axiom over my LA shafts though.
Been saying for so long this needs to be a US open course! Everyone loves a US open where the winner finishes over par this course with some grown out rough would do it for sure.
I have played there maybe15 times over the last 40 years and have been in the exact same spots you were in. Those greens are brutal. My best score was the first time i played it when i was 20. Shot 42 on front then my dad got us a caddy for the back and shot 36 with a double. Next time you play you will know some course secrets
When I played it 35 years ago, Spyglass was easier than Pebble Beach. But when you played it, it seemed much drier which made the greens and around the greens almost unmanageable. Still, it was fun seeing the course again.
Interesting - we played it and Pebble as juniors in the 70's and Pebble seemed easier. This is before Pebble became such a famous course to the public. Back then it was $25 to play for an NCGA member and the course was always practically empty because it had a rep as a hard course. But it was much faster back then meaning you got incredible roll off your drives, which you did not at the glass. The glass was super slow especially the interior holes and thus played very long from the tips. Seemed to fit it’s 76 or so rating back then. Short game was key for us as kids.
I’ve played this course with my dad before and yeah it’s a very difficult course I normally shoot low 80’s and at spyglass I think I should mid to high 90’s it’s a pretty tough course
mad respect for counting both of those putts on 1. I feel like even Grant and obviously definitely Garrett would have just given themselves that second one or excused it as they didn't actually try. You really are a class golfer and a great sportsman
Liked and subscribed. Ray Floyd to Fred Couples decades ago after a round together. Freddie I noticed that you went for all of the par fours and that you pared all four and shot 4 under. Why not lay up more often to your favorite distance and make 3 birdies? He won the Masters the next year, birdies on all par 5's on Sunday.
I caddied for my brother here during the US Am and with USGA conditions this course seemed impossible. I fully understand the shaking over any putt because these greens are actual glass.
I’ve played this course at least a 100 times and think my worse round was 3 over. I don’t know what you guys are struggling with lol. I’m kidding playing here makes you rethink every life moment that has brought you to golfing there. You swear you’ll never play there again. But like a tattoo after a few days you forget all the pain only remember the beauty and can’t wait to come back for more.
@@NivekS-1224 it’s a course that can be so tough that you can’t get mad and almost start rooting for great shots that turned out bad. I was very lucky father moved to Monterey so my whole teenage years all these courses were my home. Every course is just beautiful.
Micah, it is a tough course, was fortuante to play there 2 years ago, played 3 of the courses. i shot the lowest at this course... only by one stroke though
shot -4 under on the front nine there my first time (in the NCGA Jr. Championship)......literally the most magical moment of my life. I didn't preview the back nine and shot a humbling 46 for a total 78 LOL
I know this course. To have a 6 iron into the 1st and 117 yds into the 16th is just incredible. This boy must hit it silly distances. Spyglass is a course you get wiser on the more you play it. Benign conditions you can score very well. It's not that difficult per se - only when the elements and gusty winds roll in it humbles you
I’ve only played it once. I believe it’s the hardest course I’ve ever played. But the Bloody Mary’s the cart lady made were probably the best beverage I’ve ever had.
Having played both several times, I agree that Spyglass is much tougher than Pebble. Now, if you really want to play a hard course, fly to Scotland and play Carnoustie. IMHO, it is a full 10 shots harder than Spyglass.
If i could score 40 again i would love it. Was working on an 80 one day and screwed it with 11 on hole 18 par 5. Watert wice. That's golf though. One day.
Let’s go tig!
You tied him Grant. He had bogey hole 8 😅
It's fun watching and hearing Grant in the background of Micah's videos and vice versa. Makes the videos feel like it's just a couple buddies out there playing dream courses and living their best lives.
Thank you so much for not playing a left handed scramble with one club with mulligans on the green. Appreciate the pure golf.
What a crisp video, love the blue water and pristine green contrast. Green speed looks absolutely insane, tough course, way to battle Tig!

Spyglass is not remotely difficult
@@markcutler5220lmao who tf do you think you are💀

Great game Micah. You pushed thru it and it worked out.

Great to see Micah cruising through the choppy waters of spyglass hill and keeping the mental game strong.

DANG! Thanks for sharing a round where I played years ago. Nice to see again. Keep rocking Micah.
I always appreciate seeing these types of top tier courses being played. The comments on 14 were hilarious and relatable as well.
Mr Morris, for your first time ever playing this course I must say bravo sir. God bless you and your friends in this video

I would consider that round a huge win. Tough course, crazy greens, wind, and you hung tough throughout.
78 from the tips at Spyglass is really good.

like how you carried yourself in this video on a tough course in tough conditions.
Those greens are crazy hard. Watching you Micah strugling on them was not nice 😂. Great vid as always 🎉
